कोटीश्वरं चाश्वमेधं दृष्ट्वा स्यादृणनाशनम् 83.
By seeing Koṭīśvara and the Aśvamedha, one’s debts are destroyed.
रामेश्वरं गदालोलं दृष्ट्वा स्वर्गमवाप्नुयात् 83.
By seeing Rāmeśvara, where the mace swings, one attains heaven.
मुण्डपृष्ठे महाचण्डीं दृष्ट्वा कामानवाप्नुयात् 83.
By seeing the great Caṇḍī on Muṇḍapṛṣṭha, one attains one’s desires.
गोमकं गोपतिं देवं पितॄणामनृणो भवेत् 83.
By seeing Gomaka, the lord of cows, the god, one becomes free of debts to the ancestors.
मार्कण्डेयेश्वरं दृष्ट्वा पितॄणामनृणो भवेत् 83.
By seeing Mārkaṇḍeyeśvara, one becomes free of debts to the ancestors.
एतेन किं न पर्य्याप्तं नॄणां सुकृतकारिणाम् 83.
Is this not sufficient for those who perform good deeds?
पृथिव्यां यानि तीर्थानि ये समुद्राः सरांसि च 83.
Whatever sacred fords, oceans, and lakes there are on earth—
पृथिव्यां च गया पुण्या गयायां च गयाशिरः 83.
On earth is the holy Gayā, and in Gayā is Gayāśira.
उदीचि कनकानद्यो नाभितीर्थं तु मध्यतः 83.
In the north, among the golden rivers, is Nābhitīrtha in the middle.
कूपे पिण्डादिकं कृत्वा पितॄणामनृणो भवेत् 83.
By performing offerings such as piṇḍa at a well, one becomes free of debts to the ancestors.
हंसतीर्थे नरः स्नात्वा सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते 83.
By bathing at the Haṃsa ford, a person is released from all sins.
ब्रह्मलोकं नयेच्छ्राद्धी पुरुषानेकविंशतिम् 83.
By performing śrāddha for twenty-one men, one leads them to the world of Brahmā.
श्राद्धी रामह्रदे ब्रह्मलोकं पितृकुलं नयेत् 83.
One who performs the śrāddha at Rāma Lake leads his ancestors' lineage to the world of Brahmā.
दक्षिणे मानसे श्राद्धी ब्रह्मलोकं पितॄन्नयेत् भीष्मतर्पणकृत्तस्य कूटे तारयते पितॄन् 83.
One who performs the śrāddha at the southern Mānasa Lake leads his ancestors to the world of Brahmā; at the Kūṭa where Bhīṣma is propitiated, he delivers his ancestors.
श्राद्धी च धेनुकारण्ये ब्रह्मलोकं पितॄन्नयेत् 83.
One who performs the śrāddha in the Dhenuka forest leads his ancestors to the world of Brahmā.
ऐन्द्रे वा नरतीर्थे च वासवे वैष्णवे तथा 83.
Whether at the Indra, Nara, Vāsava, or Vaiṣṇava tīrthas—
गायत्त्रे चैव सावित्रे तीर्थे सारस्वते तथा 83.
Or at the Gāyatra, Sāvitra, or Sārasvata tīrthas—
पितॄणां तु कुलं ब्रह्मलोकं नयति मानवः 83.
A person leads his ancestors' lineage to the world of Brahmā.
तर्पयित्वा पितॄन्देवान्न विशेद्योनिसङ्कटे 83.
Having satisfied the ancestors and the gods, one does not enter a difficult rebirth.
धर्मारण्ये मतङ्गस्य वाप्यां श्राद्धाद्दिवं व्रजेत् 83.
By performing śrāddha at the Dharmāraṇya of Mataṅga or at the pond, one attains heaven.
प्रमाणं देवताः सन्तु लोकपालाश्च साक्षिणः 83.
Let the gods and the guardians of the worlds be witnesses to this truth.
रामतीर्थे नराः स्नात्वा श्राद्धं कृत्वा प्रभासके 83.
Bathing at Rāma Tīrtha and performing śrāddha at Prabhāsa—
श्राद्धकृच्छ स्वपुष्टायां त्रिः सफ्तकुंलमुद्धरेत् 83.
One who performs śrāddha at his own flourishing place uplifts three times seven generations.
गयायां न हि तत्स्थानं यत्र तीर्थं न विद्यते 83.
In Gayā, there is no place where a tīrtha is not found.
अक्षयं फलमाप्नोति ब्रह्मलोकं नयेत्पितॄन् 83.
One obtains imperishable fruit and leads his ancestors to the world of Brahmā.
एष पिण्डे मया दत्तस्तव हस्ते जनार्दन ! 83.
This offering of the piṇḍa has been given by me into your hand, O Janārdana!
ब्रह्मलोकमवाप्नोति पितृभिः सह निश्चितम् 83.
He certainly attains the world of Brahmā together with his ancestors.
गयाशीर्षेऽक्षयवटे पितॄणां दत्तमक्षयम् 83.
At the head of Gayā, at the imperishable fig tree, what is given to the ancestors is imperishable.
दृष्ट्वैतानि पितॄंश्चार्यवंश्यान्विंशतिमुद्धरेत् 83.
Having seen these, one uplifts twenty generations of ancestors and noble lineage.
पूर्वो ब्रह्मसदो भागो नागाद्रिर्भरताश्रमः 83.
The eastern part is the seat of Brahmā, the mountain of serpents, and the hermitage of Bharata.
