गोकर्णं परमं तीर्थं तीर्थं माहिष्मती पुरी 81.
Gokarna, the supreme pilgrimage, and the holy city of Mahishmati.
कृते शौचे मुक्तिदं च शार्ङ्गधारी तदन्तिके 81.
In the Krita age, purity grants liberation, and Sharngadhara is nearby.
नन्दितीर्थं मुक्तिदं च कोटितीर्थफलप्रदम् 81.
Nanditirtha, which grants liberation and bestows the fruit of a crore of pilgrimages.

ब्रह्मध्यानं परं तीर्थं तीर्थमिन्द्रियनिग्रहः 81.
Meditation on Brahman is the supreme pilgrimage; self-control is a holy place.
ज्ञानह्रदे ध्यानजले रागद्वेषमलापहे 81.
In the lake of knowledge, in the water of meditation, the stains of passion and hatred are destroyed.
इदं तीर्थमिदं नेति ये नरा भेददर्शिनः 81.
Those men who see difference, saying, 'This is a sacred place, this is not,'—
सर्वं ब्रह्मेतियोऽवेति नातीर्थं तस्य किञ्चन 81.
Whoever knows that all is Brahman, for him there is no sacred place beyond that.
सर्वा नद्यः सर्वशैलाः तीर्थं देवादिसेवितम् 81.
All rivers, all mountains, and all holy places worshipped by gods and others—
सप्तगोदावरं तीर्थं तीर्थं कोणगिरिः परम् 81.

सह्याद्रौ देवदेवेश एकवीरः सुरेश्वरी 81.
On Mount Sahya, the Lord of gods, Ekavīra, and Sureśvarī reside.
स्नात्वा कनखले तीर्थे स भवेन्न पुनर्भवे सूत उवाच 81.
One who bathes at the holy place Kanakhala does not take birth again.
श्रुत्वाऽब्रवीद्धरेर्ब्रह्मा व्यासं दक्षादिसंयुतम् गयाख्यं प्राह सर्वेषामक्षयं ब्रह्मलोकदम् ॥ 81.
Having heard this, Brahmā spoke to Vyāsa, accompanied by Dakṣa and others: he declared Gayā to be imperishable and the giver of the world of Brahman to all.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे सर्वतीर्थ माहात्म्यं नामैकाशीतितमोऽध्यायः

Therefore, Viṣṇu, the wielder of the mace, stands at Gayā as the giver of liberation.
जनार्द्दनश्च कालेशस्तथान्यः प्रपितामहः 82.

गयातीर्थं परं ज्ञात्वा यागं चक्रे पितामहः 82.
Knowing Gayā to be the supreme holy place, the great-grandfather performed a sacrifice there.
महानदीं रसवहां सृष्ट्वा वाप्यादिकं तथा 82.
He created a great river carrying sacred waters, as well as ponds and the like.
पञ्चक्रोशं गया क्षेत्रं ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ प्रभुः 82.
The Lord gave the land of Gayā, measuring five krośas, to the Brāhmaṇas.
स्थिता विप्रास्तदा शप्ता गयायां ब्राह्मणास्ततः 82.
Then the Brahmins, having been cursed, remained at Gayā.
युष्माकं स्याद्वारिवहा नदी पाषाणपर्वतः 82.
For you, there shall be a river, a mountain of stone, and a stream.
लोकाः पुण्या गयायां हि श्राद्धिनो ब्रह्मलोकगाः 82.
Indeed, in Gayā, those who perform śrāddha attain worlds of merit, going to the world of Brahmā.
ब्रह्मज्ञानं गयाश्राद्धं गोगृहे मरणं तथा 82.
