अर्द्धाधिकं माषकमुन्मितस्य समं च विंशत्रितयं शतानाम् अध्यर्द्धमुन्मान(प) कृतं शतं स्यान्मूल्यं गुणैस्तस्य समन्वितस्य ॥ 69.
If it exceeds by half a māṣa, its value is equal to twenty-three hundred; if it exceeds by one and a half māṣas, its value is one hundred, provided it possesses the proper qualities.
यदि षोडशभिर्भवेदनूनंधरणं तत्प्रवदन्ति दार्विकाख्यम् 69.
If its weight is less by sixteen, it is called by experts a 'dārvika.'
द्विगुणैर्दशभिर्भवेदनूनं धरणं तद्भवकं वदन्ति तज्ज्ञाः 69.
If its weight is less by twice ten, experts call it 'bhavaka.'
त्रिंशता धरणं पूर्णं शिक्यं तस्येति कीर्त्त्यते 69.
A full weight of thirty is called 'śikya,' so it is said.
चत्वारिंशद्र भवेत्तस्यास्त्रिंशन्मूल्यं लभेत् सा 69.
If it is forty, its value is thirty.
षष्टिर्निकरशीर्षं स्यात्तस्या मूल्यं चतुर्दश एकादश स्यान्नव च तयोर्मूल्यमनुक्रमात् ॥ 69.
Sixty is called 'nikaraśīrṣa'; its value is fourteen. Eleven and nine are their values, respectively, in order.
आदाय तत्सकलमेव ततोऽन्नभाण्डं जम्बीरजातरसयोजनया विपक्रम् 69.
Taking all of it, then the food vessel, cook it with the juice of jambīra fruit.
मृल्लिप्तमत्स्यपुटमध्यगतं तु कृत्वा पश्चात्पचेत्तनु ततश्च बिडालपुट्या 69.
Place it inside a clay-smeared fish vessel, and then cook it; afterwards, use a cat's excrement vessel.
शुद्धं ततो विमलवस्त्रनिघर्षणेन स्यान्मौक्तिकं विपुलसद्गुणकान्तियुक्तम् 69.
Then, by rubbing with a pure, spotless cloth, the pearl becomes clean, endowed with abundant excellent qualities and luster.
श्वेतकाचसमं तारं हेमांशशतयोजितम् 69.
Silver, when alloyed with a hundred parts of gold, becomes like white glass.
एवं हि सिंहले देशे कुर्वन्ति कुशला जनाः 69.
In this way, skilled people in the land of Siṃhala act.
उष्णे सलवणे स्नेहे निशां तद्वासयेज्जले 69.
At night, one should immerse it in warm, salty, oily water.
यत्तु नायाति वैवर्ण्यं विज्ञेयं तदकृत्रिमम् 69.
That which does not lose its color should be understood as genuine.
तेजोऽधिकं सुवृत्तं च मौक्तिकं गुणवत्स्मृतम् ॥ 69.
A pearl that is very lustrous and well-rounded is considered excellent.
प्रमाणवद्गौरवरश्मियुक्तं सितं सुवृत्तं समसूक्ष्मवेधम् 69.
That which is of proper size, weighty, radiant, white, well-rounded, and with uniform fine perforation—
एवं समस्तेन गुणोदयेन यन्मौक्तिकं योगमुपागतं स्यात् 69.
A pearl possessing all these qualities together is considered to have attained perfection.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे मुक्ताफलप्रमाणादिवर्णनं नाम मुक्ताफलपरीक्षा नामैकोनसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः

दिवाकरस्तस्य महामहिम्नो महासुरस्योत्तमरत्नबीजम् 70.
The sun, of great glory, is the supreme source of gems among the great gods.
जेत्त्रा सुराणां समरेष्वजस्रं वीर्य्यावलेपोद्धतमानसेन 70.
He, the constant conqueror of the gods in battles, with a mind uplifted by pride in his strength—
तत्सिंहलीचारुनितम्बबिम्बविक्षो भितागाधमहाह्रदायाम् 70.
Having seen the hips of the Siṃhalī woman, he, frightened, entered the depths of the great lake.
ततः प्रभृति सा गङ्गा तुल्यपुण्यफलोदया 70.
From that time onward, that river became equal to the Gaṅgā in the arising of meritorious results.
ततः प्रभृत्येव च शर्वरीषु कूलानि रत्नैर्निचितानि तस्याः 70.
And from then on, during the nights, its banks became filled with gems.
तस्यास्तटेपूज्ज्वचारुरागा भवन्ति तोयेषु च पद्मरागाः 70.
On its banks, beautiful rubies appear, and in its waters, there are padmarāga gems.
बन्धू कगुंजासकलेन्द्रगोपजवासमासृक्समवर्णशोभाः 70.
They shine with the colors of bandhūka, guñjā, indragopa, and javā flowers, and possess a uniform, splendid hue.
सिन्दुरपद्मोत्पलकुंकुमानां लाक्षारसस्यापि समानवर्णः 70.
Their color is like that of cinnabar, lotus, blue water lily, saffron, and also the resin of lac.
भानोश्च भासामनुवेधयोगामासाद्य रशमि प्रकरेण दूरम् 70.

प्रभावकाठिन्यगुरुत्वयोगैः प्रायः समानाः स्फटिकोद्भवानाम् 70.
In brilliance, hardness, and weight, they are generally similar to those produced from crystal.
कामं तु रागः कुरुविन्दजेषु स नैव यादृक् स्फटिकोद्भवेषु 70.
Indeed, the redness in kuruvinda stones is present, but not in the same way as in those arising from crystal.
