तीक्ष्णाग्रं विमलमपेतसर्वदोषं धत्ते यः प्रयततनुः सदैव वज्रम् 68.
One who always wears a vajra with a sharp tip, spotless, and free from all defects, with devoted body,
व्यालवह्निविषव्याघ्रतस्कराम्बुभयानि च 68.
Serpents, fire, poison, tigers, thieves, water, and dangers,
यदि वज्रमपेतसर्वदोषं बिभृयात्तण्डुलविंशतिं गुरुत्वे 68.
If one bears a vajra free from all defects, weighing twenty grains of rice,
त्रिभागहीनार्द्धतदर्द्धशेषं त्रयोदशं त्रिंशदतोऽर्द्धभागाः 68.
If it is lacking by a third, half, or a quarter, thirteen or thirty, then half portions.
यत्तण्डुलैर्द्वादशभिः कृतस्य वज्रस्य मूल्यं प्रथमं प्रदिष्टम् 68.
The original price prescribed for a diamond is that of twelve grains of rice.
न चापि तण्डुलैरेव वज्राणां धारणक्रमः 68.
Yet, the method for wearing diamonds is not determined merely by grains of rice.
यत्तु सर्वगुणैर्युक्तं वज्रं तरति वारिणि 68.
A diamond endowed with all virtues surpasses even water.
अल्पेनापि हि दोषेण लक्ष्यालक्ष्येण द्वषितम् 68.
Even with a slight flaw, whether visible or not, it is considered defective.
प्रकटानेकदोषस्य स्वल्पस्य महतोऽपि वा 68.
Whether the flaw is obvious, numerous, small, or great, it is evident.
स्पष्टदोषमलङ्कारे वज्रं यद्यपि दृश्यते 68.
If a diamond displays a clear defect in its ornamentation, even then it is seen as such.
प्रथमं गुणसम्पदाभ्युपेतं प्रतिबद्धं समुपैति यच्च दोषम् 68.
A diamond that is at first endowed with all virtues may later acquire a defect when set.
नार्य्या वज्रमधार्य्यं गुणवदपि सुतप्रसूतिमिच्छन्त्या 68.
A woman desiring the birth of a good son should not wear a diamond, even if it is of high quality.
अयसा पुष्परागेण तथा गोमेदकेन च 68.
With iron, with red spinel, and with hessonite as well,
प्रतिरूपाणि कुर्वन्ति वज्रस्य कुशला जनाः 68.
Skilled people create imitations of diamonds.
क्षारोल्लेखनशाणाभिस्तेषां कार्य्यं परीक्षणम् 68.
Their examination should be done with crystal, corundum, and whetstones.
सर्वाणि विलिखेद्वज्रं तच्च तैर्न विलिख्यते 68.
A diamond will scratch all of them, but it is not scratched by them.
वज्रे तां वैपरीत्येन सूरयः परिचक्षते 68.
Experts describe the opposite in the case of a false diamond.
वज्रैर्वज्रं विलिखति नान्येन विलिख्यते वज्रम् 68.
A diamond is scratched only by another diamond, not by anything else.
