Krauncha and Kakudman—these are indeed mountains, and these are the rivers.
विधृतिः सप्तमी तासां स्मृताः पापप्रशान्तिदाः 56.
Vidhriti is remembered as the seventh among them, bestowing the cessation of sin.
उद्भिदो वेणुमांश्चैव द्वैरथो लम्बनो धृतिः 56.
Udbhida, Veṇumān, Dvairatha, Lambana, and Dhṛti.
विद्रुमो हेमशैलश्च द्युतिमान्पुष्पवांस्तथा 56.
Vidruma, Hemashaila, Dyutimat, and also Puṣpavān.
धूतपापा शिवा चैव पवित्रा सन्मतिस्तथा 56.
Dhūtapāpā, Śivā, Pavitrā, and likewise Sanmati.
क्रौञ्चद्वीपे द्युतिमतः पुत्राः सप्त महात्मनः 56.
On Krauncha-dvīpa are the seven sons of the great-souled Dyutimat.
मुनिश्च दुन्दुभिश्चैव सप्तैते तत्सुता हर 56.
Muni and Dundubhi—these seven are his sons, O Hara.
दिवावृत्पञ्चमश्चान्यो दुन्दुभिः पुण्डरीकवान् 56.
Another, the fifth, is Divāvṛt; Dundubhi is Puṇḍarīkavān.
ख्यातिश्च पुण्डरीका च सप्तैता वर्षनिम्नगाः 56.
Khyāti and Puṇḍarīkā—these seven are the rivers of the land.
जलद्श्च कुमारश्च सुकुमारोरुणी बकः 56.
Jalada, Kumāra, Sukumāra, Oruṇī, and Baka.
सुकुमारी कुमारी च नलिनी धेनुका च या 56.
Sukumārī, Kumārī, Nalinī, and Dhenukā.
शबलात्पुष्करेशाच्च महावीरश्च धातकिः 56.
From Śabalā and Puṣkareśa come Mahāvīra and Dhātaki.
योजनानां सहस्त्राणि ऊर्द्ध्वं पञ्चाशदुच्छ्रितः 56.
It rises upward to fifty thousand yojanas.
स्वादूदकेनोदधिना पुष्करः परिवेष्टितः 56.
Puṣkara is surrounded by an ocean of sweet water.
द्विगुणा काञ्चनी भूमिः सर्वजन्तुविवर्जिता तमसा पर्वतो व्याप्तस्तमोऽप्यण्डकटाहतः ॥ 56.
The golden land is twice as wide, devoid of all living beings; the mountain is covered by darkness, and that darkness is enclosed by the shell of the cosmic egg.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे भुवनकोशवर्णनं नाम षट्पञ्चाशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the fifty-sixth chapter, called 'Description of the Cosmic Regions,' in the Ācāra section of the first part of the glorious Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa.
सप्ततिस्तु सहस्त्राणि भूम्युच्छ्रायोऽपि कथ्यते 57.
The height of the earth is also said to be seventy thousand yojanas.

Atala, Vitala, Nitala, and Gabhastimat.

Black, white, red, yellow, gravel, mountain, and gold.
रौद्रे तु पुष्करद्वीपे नरकाः सन्ति ताञ्छृणु 57.
On the fierce Puṣkara-dvīpa are the hells—listen to them.
महाज्वालस्तप्तकुम्भो लवणोऽथि विमोहितः 57.
A great blazing, heated pot, filled with salt, bewildering the mind.
असिपत्रवनः कृष्णो नानाभक्षश्च दारुणः 57.
The black forest of sword-leaved trees, dreadful with various foods.
संदंशः कृष्णसूत्रश्च तमश्चावीचिरेव च 57.
The iron tongs, the black thread, and the darkness of Avīci hell.
पापिनस्तेषु पच्यन्ते विषशस्त्राग्निदायिनः 57.
Sinners are cooked there, those who give poison, weapons, and fire.
वारिवह्न्यनिलाकाशैर्वृतं भूतादिना च तत् 57.
It is surrounded by water, fire, wind, sky, and beings, and so forth.
अण्डं दशगुणं व्याप्तं नारायणः स्थितः ॥ 57.
The egg is ten times pervaded, and Nārāyaṇa abides therein.
इति गारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे भुवनकोशगतापातलनरकादिनिरूपणं नाम सप्तपञ्चाशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the Garuḍa Mahāpurāṇa, in the first section of the Pūrvakhaṇḍa, in the Ācārakāṇḍa, the fifty-seventh chapter named 'Description of the Bhuvanakośa, Pātāla, Naraka, and others.'
वक्ष्ये प्रमाणसंस्थाने सूर्य्यादीनां श्रृणुष्व मे 58.

The staff of the lord is likewise twice as long, O bull-bannered one.

Its axle is measured in yojanas, and the wheel is established there.
