पष्ठ्यामुपोषितो देवं शुक्लपक्षे समाहितः 52.
Having observed a fast on the sixth day, with a concentrated mind, one worships the god during the bright fortnight.
एकादश्यां निराहारः समभ्यर्च्य जनार्दनम् 52.
On the eleventh day, remaining without food, one should duly worship Janardana.
तपो जपस्तीर्थसेवा देवब्राह्मणपूजनम् 52.
Austerity, recitation, service at sacred fords, and worship of gods and Brahmins—
यः सर्वपापयुक्तोऽपि पुण्यतीर्थेषु मानवः 52.
Even a man burdened with all sins, if he goes to holy places—
ब्रह्मघ्नं वा कृतघ्नं वा महापातकदूषितम् 52.
Whether he has slain a Brahmin, been ungrateful, or is tainted by great sins—
पतिव्रता तु या नारी भर्त्तुः शुश्रूषणोत्सुका 52.
But a woman who is devoted to her husband, eager to serve him—
तथा रामस्य सुभगा सीता त्रैलोक्यविश्रुता 52.
Just as Sita, renowned in the three worlds, was devoted to Rama—
फल्गुतीर्थादिषु स्नातः सर्वाचारफलं लभेत् 52.
One who bathes at Phalgu and other sacred fords attains the fruit of all righteous conduct.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे प्रायश्चित्तनिरूपणं नाम द्विपञ्चाशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Garuda Mahapurana, in the Purva Khanda, in the section called Achara, the fifty-second chapter named 'The Explanation of Atonement' is concluded.
एवं ब्रह्माब्रवीच्छ्रुत्वा हरेरष्टनिधींस्तथा 53.
Thus, having heard of the eight treasures of Hari, Brahma spoke as follows:
मुकुन्दकु(न) न्दौ नीलश्च शङ्खश्चैवापरो निधिः 53.
Mukunda, Kundha, Nila, and Shankha are also among the other treasures.
पद्मेन लक्षितश्चैव सात्त्विको जायते नरः 53.
Marked with a lotus, a person becomes sattvic in nature.
रुप्यादि कुर्य्याद्दद्यात्तु यतिदैवादियज्वनाम् 53.
One should make gifts of silver and the like to ascetics, deities, and sacrificers, as appropriate.
निधी पद्ममहापद्मौ सात्त्विकौ पुरुषौ स्मृतौ 53.
The treasures Padma and Mahapadma are remembered as sattvic persons.
दद्याच्छ्रुताय मैत्रीं च याति नित्यं च राजभिः 53.
One should give to the learned and maintain friendship, and always act with kings.
मकरः कच्छपश्चैव तामसौ तु निधी स्मृतौ 53.
Makara and Kachhapa are remembered as tamasic treasures.
निधानमुर्व्यां कुरुते निधिः सोप्येकपूरुषः 53.
He who establishes a treasure in the earth, that treasure is also considered as one person.
भुक्तभोगो गायनेभ्यो दद्याद्वेश्यादिकासु च 53.
Having enjoyed the pleasures, one should give to singers and also to courtesans and the like.
स्तुतः प्रीतो भवति वै बहुभार्य्या भवन्ति च 53.
When praised, he becomes pleased and indeed has many wives.
नीलेन चाङ्कितः सत्त्वतेजसा संयुतो भवेत् 53.
Marked with blue and endowed with sattvic brilliance, he becomes so.
त्रिपू(पौ) रुषो निधिश्चैव आम्रारामादि कारयेत् 53.
Tripu(pau), anger, and the treasure, as well as mango groves and others, should be established.
कदन्नभुक्परिजनो न च शोभनवस्त्रधृक् 53.
His attendants eat coarse food and do not wear fine garments.
मिश्रावलोकनान्मिश्रस्वभावफलदायिनः हरिर्भुवनकोशादि यथोवाच तथा वदे ॥ 53.
From mixed glances and mixed nature, fruits are given; Hari speaks of the world-treasures and so I say.
इति श्रीगारुडे महापुराणे पूर्वखण्डे प्रथमांशाख्ये आचारकाण्डे नवनिधिवर्णनं नाम त्रिपंचाशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the fifty-third chapter named 'Description of the Nine Treasures' in the section on conduct, in the first part of the glorious Garuda Mahapurana.
अग्नीध्रश्चाग्निबाहुश्च वपुष्मान्ध्युतिमांस्तथा 54.
Agnīdhra, Agnibāhu, Vapuṣmān, and Dyutimān as well.
ज्योतिष्मान्दशमो जातः पुत्रा ह्येते प्रियव्रतात् 54.
Jyotiṣmān was the tenth born; these sons were indeed from Priyavrata.
जातिस्मरा महाभागा नैराज्याय मनो दधुः 54.
Jātismara, greatly fortunate, devoted their minds to the kingdom of Nairājya.
योजनानां प्रमाणेन पञ्चाशत्कोटिराप्लुता 54.
With a measure of fifty crore yojanas, they were spread out.
जम्बूप्लक्षाह्वयौ द्वीपौ शाल्मलश्चापरो हर 54.
Jambū and Plakṣa are the names of two islands; Śālmalā is another, O Hara.
एते द्वीपाः समुद्रैस्तु सप्त सप्तभिरावृताः 54.
These islands are surrounded by seven oceans, each by seven.
