सर्गादिकृद्धरिश्चैव पूज्यः स्वायम्भुवादिभिः 49.

Living on roots and fruits on the earth, self-study, and austerity.

He who practices austerity in the forest, worships the gods, and makes offerings.
तपसा कर्शितोऽत्यर्थं यस्तु ध्यानपरो भवेत् 49.
One who is greatly emaciated by austerity becomes devoted to meditation.
योगाभ्यासरतो नित्यमारुरुक्षुर्जितेन्द्रियः 49.
Constantly engaged in yoga practice, aspiring to ascend, having mastered the senses.
यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यान्नित्यतृप्तो महामुनिः 49.
He whose delight is only in the self, always content, the great sage.
भैक्ष्यं श्रुतं च मौनित्वं तपो ध्यानं विशेषतः 49.
Begging, learning, silence, austerity, and especially meditation.
ज्ञानसन्यासिनः केचिद्वेदसन्यासिनोऽपरे 49.
Some are renouncers of knowledge, others are renouncers of the Vedas.
योगी च त्रिविधो ज्ञेयो भौतिकः क्षत्त्र एवं च 49.
The yogi is known to be of three kinds: material, Kshatriya, and likewise.
