Because Kusha was created by the sage Valmiki, therefore the lord, the delight of Janaki, is called Kusha.
Indradyumna, Purendra, Gadhi, Vali, Arjuna, Vikukshi, and Kusha—these seven are all declared to be Indras.
Pradyumna, the son of Krishna, is indeed called Kama; because of his exceedingly radiant form, he bears the name Pradyumna.
Bharata, the brother of Rama, became Kama on earth; because he followed Rama's command, he is named Bharata.
Kama, identified with the discus, is remembered as Sudarshana; the son of Krishna, Samba, son of Jambavati, is verily Brahma.
He should be known as an incarnation of Kama—there is no doubt about this; Skanda, the son of Rudra, is also declared to be Kama.
Because he always destroys enemies, he is remembered as Skanda; and Sanatkumara, the son of Brahma and lord of the birds, should be known as an incarnation of Kama—there is no need for further inquiry.
Sudarshana, the supreme one, Pradyumna, Samba, Sanatkumara, and also Samba—these six are forms of Kama.
Then, Indra and Kama, both having ten incarnations among Uma and others; among them, O Garuda, Kama is remembered as inferior to Indra.
Prana is indeed ahamkara, known as the sense of ego; know that Garutmada is a portion, and among Kama and Indra, he is the tenth and lowest.
Next, I shall explain what follows; listen attentively, O Vindra. By hearing this, one attains liberation and is freed from great sin.
Aniruddha, the son of Kama, is also declared to be another form of Hari; he indeed became the younger brother of Rama on earth to serve Hari.
He is renowned as Shatrughna because he destroys enemies; Aniruddha, the son of Krishna, was indeed born from Pradyumna.
He is pervaded by three forms, beginning with Sankarshana; thus, Aniruddha, the great-minded, is to be understood as having two forms.
Kama’s wife, known as Rati, is described as having two forms; Rugmavati, daughter of Rukma, is called the wife of Kama.
Because of her great radiance, she is remembered as Rugmavati; the daughter of Duryodhana, named Lakshana, is also known as Rati.
Lakshana, the wife of Samba, is so called because she possesses auspicious marks; on earth, she is known by the name Lakshana, though born of impure valor.
Thus, Rati, the wife of Kama, is to be known as having two forms; Svayambhuva, the son of Brahma, the first Manu, equal to the teacher, was born by the royal law of Vishnu to please Hari.
Brihaspati, the great-souled preceptor of the gods, had three incarnations, O king of birds; in the Rama incarnation, Brihaspati, possessed by the essence of the lotus-born, became known as Bharata.
After delivering the Vanaras through the divine deeds of Shri Rama, he was called Nara, to attain proximity to Lord Rama on earth.
In Krishna’s incarnation, Brihaspati, possessed by the essence of the lotus-born, became known as Drona; because he was born from a vessel, he was thus called Drona.
To relieve the burden of the earth and to serve Vishnu, Brihaspati, endowed with the essence of the wind, became known as Uddhava on earth.
Because Hari was supreme among them, he was rightly called Budhavan; he was always the wise and honored friend of Krishna in all the worlds.
Daksha, born from the right thumb, the wise son of Brahma, created a daughter and, pleasing Hari, became the lord of creatures on earth; Daksha is remembered as the progenitor of sons.
Know that Shachi, the wife of the king of the gods, had this incarnation; listen well, O king of birds: in the Rama incarnation, she was named Tara, the wife of Vali, also known as Shachi.
After Rama killed Vali, Tara joined with Sugriva; therefore, after leaving the world of serpents, where could Tara, sinful, go in the sky?
In Krishna’s incarnation, that same Tara became Vindrā on earth, the wife of Vijaya; she was also called Pishangadi, and her closeness was with Arjuna.
Having begotten a son named Babru in her, Arjuna, the great-souled, abandoned her; thus, both Vārā and Citrāngadā are in the form of Shachi—there is no doubt about this.
Pulomaja, the wife of Mantradyumna; Kashika, the wife of King Gadhi; Sumati, the wife of Vikukshi; and Kantimati, the wife of Kusha—these are their names.
Know that these seven, along with Shachi, are the lower ones—there is no doubt here; Shachi, Rati, Aniruddha, Manu, Daksha, and Brihaspati—these six are said to be equal to each other, but due to pride, they are considered the lowest among ten.
