आग्नेये कन्यके नित्यं भक्त्या तु प्रयतः शुभे । गोविन्दाय नमस्कुर्याद्दक्षिणे विष्णवे तथा ॥ ३,२४.
In the southeast, O maiden, always bow with devotion and purity to Govinda; in the south, likewise bow to Vishnu.
मधुसूदनाय भोः कन्ये नमस्कुर्यात्तु नैरृतौ । पश्चिमे त्रिविक्रमाय वामनाय तथैव च ॥ ३,२४.
O maiden, bow to Madhusudana in the southwest; in the west, likewise bow to Trivikrama and Vamana.
विष्णवे श्रीधरायाथ नमस्कुर्याच्च भामिति । उत्तरे तु महाकन्ये हृषीकेशाय वै नमः ॥ ३,२४.
Bow to Vishnu and Shridhara, O radiant one; and in the north, O great maiden, bow to Hrishikesha.
तथा वै पद्मनाभाय नमस्कुर्यादतन्द्रितः । दामोदराय चैशान्ये नमस्कुर्याच्च भामिनि ॥ ३,२४.
Likewise, bow without fatigue to Padmanabha; and in the northeast, O radiant one, bow to Damodara.
चतुर्थावरणे पूर्वे महाकूर्माय वै नमः । वराहाय नमस्कुर्यादाग्नेये कन्यके शुभे ॥ ३,२४.
In the fourth enclosure, in the east, one should offer homage to the great Tortoise; in the southeast, O auspicious maiden, one should bow to Varaha.
दक्षिणे नारसिंहाय वामनाय नमोनमः । भार्गवाय नमस्कुर्यान्नैरृत्ये शुद्धचेतसा ॥ ३,२४.
In the south, repeated salutations to Narasimha and Vamana; in the southwest, with pure mind, one should bow to Bhargava.
पश्चिमे माधवायाथ तथा कृष्णाय वै नमः । बुद्धाय च नमस्कुर्याद्वायव्ये कन्यके शुभे ॥ ३,२४.
In the west, one should bow to Madhava and likewise to Krishna; in the northwest, O auspicious maiden, one should bow to Buddha.
उत्तरे ह्युल्करूपाय अनन्ताय नमोस्तु ते । ईशान्ये विश्वरूपाय नमस्कुर्यादतन्द्रितः ॥ ३,२४.
In the north, indeed, salutations to Ulkarupa and Ananta; in the northeast, one should bow without fatigue to Vishvarupa.
आग्नेये वारुणीं चैव गायत्रीं चैव नैरृते । वायव्ये भारतीं चैव ईशान्ये गिरिजां नमेत् ॥ ३,२४.
In the southeast, one should honor Varuni, and in the southwest, Gayatri; in the northwest, Bharati, and in the northeast, one should bow to Girija.
गिरिजां वामभागे तु सौपर्णै चैव संनमेत् । प्रागिन्द्राय नमस्कुर्यात्सायुधाय तथैव च ॥ ३,२४.
One should bow to Girija on the left side, and also to the Suparnas; in the east, one should bow to Indra, and likewise to him who bears weapons.
स परिग्रहाय श्रीविष्णोः पार्षदाय नमोनमः । आग्नेयेत्यग्नये तुभ्यं सायुधायेति पूर्ववत् ॥ ३,२४.
One should repeatedly bow to the attendant of Shri Vishnu, who is the recipient of offerings; 'To Agni in the southeast, to you, O bearer of weapons,' as before.
दक्षिणे तु यमायैव नैरृत्यां निरृतिं यजेत् । पश्चिमे वरुणायैव वायव्ये वायवे नमः ॥ ३,२४.
In the south, one should worship Yama; in the southwest, Nirriti; in the west, Varuna; and in the northwest, salutations to Vayu.
उत्तरे च कुबेराय ईशान्ये च शिवाय च । ईशानशक्रयोर्मध्ये ब्रह्मणे सायुधाय च ॥ ३,२४.
In the north, one should bow to Kubera, and in the northeast, to Shiva; between Ishana and Shakra, to Brahma, the bearer of weapons.
निरृत्यप्यतिमध्ये तु शेषाय च नमोनमः । एवं कृत्वा नमस्कारं प्रणमेच्च पुनः पुनः ॥ ३,२४.
In the very middle of Nirriti, one should repeatedly bow to Shesha; having performed such salutations, one should bow again and again.
इत्येतत्सर्वमाख्यातं विधिपूर्वं तु दर्शनम् । इतः परन्तु गन्तव्यं दर्शनार्थं रमापते ॥ ३,२४.
Thus, all this procedure has been explained in accordance with the injunction; now, one should proceed further for the audience of the Lord of Lakshmi.
एवमुक्त्वा तु सा देवी तैः सार्धं तु ययौ मुदा । यदुक्तः श्रीनिवासस्य दर्शनस्य विधिः खग । कस्यचिन्नैव वक्तव्यो गोप्यत्वाच्च कदाचन ॥ ३,२४.
Having spoken thus, the goddess joyfully went forth with them; O Khaga, the procedure for the audience of Srinivasa that has been described should never be told to anyone, for it must always be kept secret.
समागमो दुर्घट एव वीन्द्र सतां च सत्तत्त्वविबोधकानाम् । अनेकजन्मार्जितपुण्यसंचयादभूद्गुरोः संगम एव तस्य ॥ ३,२४.
The meeting of the truly good and those who realize the essence of truth is indeed difficult, O Indra among birds; only through the accumulation of merit over many births does one attain the company of such a teacher.
पयो विकारं च निजं जहाति शेषस्य शेषं नलिनस्य षङ्कजम् । भावं चलं पङ्कजनाभयोगात्सत्संगयोगादशुभानि न स्युः ॥ ३,२४.
Milk gives up its own nature and becomes curd; the remainder of the remainder of the lotus is born of doubt; by association with the good, unstable feelings are steadied, and from such company, inauspicious things do not arise.
श्रीगरुडमहापुराणम् २५ सा द्वारदेशे श्रीनिवासस्य देवी स्वामिपुष्करिणीं ददृशे कैश्च सार्धम् । स्वामिन्हरे श्रीनिवासेति सा तं ब्रह्मादीनां तारकं सम्प्रदध्यौ ॥ ३,२५.
At the entrance to the temple of Srinivasa, the goddess saw the sacred lake of the Lord, accompanied by others; there, she meditated upon Srinivasa, the deliverer of Brahma and the other gods.
देवैः सार्धं पालनार्थं च विष्णुरस्त्येव नित्यं पुष्करिण्यां जलेषु । अतः स्वामिपुष्करिणीति चाहुस्तत्र स्नानं कन्यकान्याश्च चक्रुः ॥ ३,२५.
For the sake of protection, Vishnu is always present with the gods in the waters of the sacred lake; therefore, it is called the Lord's Lake, and there the maidens performed their bathing.
शुचिर्भूत्वा श्रीनिवासं च देवास्तुप्तुं विविशुः शुद्धभक्त्या खगेन्द्र । यथोपदिष्टं गुरुणा तथैव चक्रे कन्याश्च सर्वं खगेन्द्र ॥ ३,२५.
Having purified themselves, the gods entered to worship Srinivasa with pure devotion, O king of birds; just as instructed by the teacher, so too did all the maidens, O king of birds.
तदा हरिं दर्शयामास तस्यै स्वकं रूपं सुप्रतीके सुपूर्णम् । सा कन्यका श्रीनिवासस्य रूपं ददर्श भक्त्या स्वमनोभिरामम् ॥ ३,२५.
Then Hari revealed to her his own form, beautiful and complete; that maiden beheld the form of Srinivasa, delightful to her mind, with devotion.
सुवर्णचित्रं वसनं वसानं सोष्णीषकं कञ्चुकं संदधानम् ॥ ३,२५.
Wearing garments adorned with gold designs, with a turban and a jacket upon his body.
मृगोत्थमदगन्धेन सुरभीकृतदिङ्मुखम् । पुण्डरीकविशालाक्षं कंबुग्रीवं महाभुजम् ॥ ३,२५.
His directions made fragrant by the scent of musk, his eyes wide as lotuses, with a neck like a conch and mighty arms.
हेमयज्ञोपवीताङ्गं साक्षात्कन्दर्पसन्निभम् । जगन्मोहनसैन्दर्यं कोमलाङ्गं मनोहरम् ॥ ३,२५.
His body adorned with a golden sacred thread, resembling Cupid himself, possessing beauty that enchants the universe, with soft limbs, delightful to behold.
दृष्ट्वा च कन्या मुमुदे रोमाञ्चितसुगात्रका ॥ ३,२५.
Seeing him, the maiden rejoiced, her beautiful body thrilled with goosebumps.
तद्दर्शनाह्लादपरिप्लुताशया प्रेम्णाथ रोमाश्रुकुलाकुलेक्षणा । ननर्त देवी पुरतस्तस्य विष्णोः सा ध्वस्तदोषा परमादरेण । आनन्द मां पाहि सुखं च दत्त्वा मुकुन्दा मां पाहि विमुक्तिदानात् ॥ ३,२५.
Flooded with joy at the sight of him, her heart overflowing with love, her eyes brimming with tears of ecstasy, the goddess danced before that Vishnu, freed from all faults, with utmost reverence: 'O Blissful One, protect me; grant me happiness, O Mukunda, protect me, O Giver of liberation.'
मां पाहि नित्यं ह्यरविन्दनेत्र प्रसन्नदृष्ट्या करुणासुधार्द्र । गोविन्द गोविन्द सुदुः खितां मां ज्ञानादिदानेन हि पाहि नित्यम् ॥ ३,२५.
Protect me always, O Lotus-eyed One, with your gracious gaze, moist with the nectar of compassion. Govinda, Govinda, protect me, who am greatly afflicted, always by granting knowledge and other gifts.
जनार्दन त्वं हि सुदुष्टसंगान्कामादिरूपान्सततं वर्जयित्वा । हरे हरे मां सततं पाहि दैत्यान्समाहृत्य प्रबलान्विघ्नरूपान् ॥ ३,२५.
O Janardana, you ever avoid wicked associations in the form of desires and the like; O Hari, O Hari, always protect me, removing powerful obstacles in the form of demons.
रमेश मां पाहि चतुर्मुखेश विश्वेश मां पाहि सरस्वतीश । रमेश मां पाहि निदानमूर्ते वृन्दारवृन्दैर्वन्दितपादपद्म ॥ ३,२५.
O Lord of Lakshmi, protect me; O Lord of the Four-faced, protect me; O Lord of the Universe, protect me; O Lord of Sarasvati, protect me; O Lord of Lakshmi, source of all, whose lotus feet are worshipped by hosts of gods, protect me.
