अस्मिन्स्नानं ये प्रकुर्वन्ति तीर्थे तेषां ज्ञानं परमं दृढं स्यात् । अत्र स्नाने मानुषाणां च तात बुद्धिर्न हि स्यात्कलिकाले विशेषात् ॥ ३,२४.
Those who bathe in this sacred place attain firm supreme knowledge. But, O dear one, in the Kali age, people do not gain such understanding from bathing here.
दत्त्वां वरं दैत्यवराय विष्णुरन्तर्दधे जलपूर्णे सुकुण्डे । अद्याप्यास्ते जलमध्ये नृसिंहः प्रह्लादोपि दैत्यकुमारकैः सह ॥ ३,२४.
Having granted a boon to the best of Daityas, Viṣṇu disappeared into the water-filled sacred pool. Even today, Narasiṃha remains in the water, along with Prahlāda and the sons of the Daityas.
तस्मिन् सुतीर्थे परितस्तत्रतत्र जयेति शब्दः श्रूयते चापराह्ने । इदं तीर्थं नारसिंहाभिधं च कन्येस्नानं ह्यत्र कार्यं मनुष्यैः ॥ ३,२४.
At that holy site, all around, the cry of 'Victory!' is heard in the afternoon. O maiden, this sacred place is called Nārasiṃha; here, humans should certainly bathe.
स्नानं कृत्वा तत्र तीर्थे च सम्यग्दीपं दत्त्वा द्विजवर्याय मुख्यम् । द्रष्टुं पुनः श्रीनिवासं प्रजग्मुर्गोविन्दगोविन्द इति ब्रुवन्तः ॥ ३,२४.
After bathing properly at that sacred place and offering a lamp to the foremost Brāhmaṇa, they again went to see Śrīnivāsa, chanting 'Govinda, Govinda!'
मुख्यप्राणाधिष्ठितं स्थानमाप्य अपाविशत्तत्र देवी ह्युवाच । जैगीषव्यः श्रीनिवासस्य विष्णोः कथं कार्यं दर्शनं तद्वदस्व ॥ ३,२४.
Having reached the place presided over by the chief life-force, the goddess entered there and spoke: 'O Jaigīṣavya, tell how one may have the vision of Śrīnivāsa, Viṣṇu.'
जैगीषव्यः प्राह संहृष्टचित्तो ब्रवीमि तन्त्रं शृणु कन्यके त्वम् । श्रुत्वा मत्तः कुरु सर्वं मयोक्तमाद्यं द्वारं श्रीनिवासस्य दृष्ट्वा ॥ ३,२४.
Jaigīṣavya, his heart delighted, said: 'I will tell you the method, O maiden, listen. Having heard from me, do everything as I say. First, behold the doorway of Śrīnivāsa.'
अपराधसहस्राणि क्रियन्तेऽहर्निशं मया । तानि सर्वाणि मे देव क्षमस्व पुरुषोत्तम ॥ ३,२४.
Thousands of offenses are committed by me day and night. O Supreme Person, forgive all of them, O Lord.
मानसान्वाचिकान्दोषान्कायि कानपि सर्वशः । वैष्णवद्वेषहेतून्मे भस्मसात्कुरु माधव ॥ ३,२४.
All the faults of mind, speech, and body, and all causes of enmity toward Vaiṣṇavas—reduce them to ashes, O Mādhava.
आद्यद्वारं श्रीनिवासस्य देवि सम्यक्स्मरेद्विजयं वै जयं च । दक्षाध्वरे श्रीनिवासस्य देवि चण्डं प्रचण्डं संस्मरेत्सम्यगेव ॥ ३,२४.
At the main entrance of Śrīnivāsa, O Goddess, one should properly remember Vijaya and Jaya; and at the Dakṣa sacrifice, one should also remember, with care, Caṇḍa and Pracaṇḍa of Śrīnivāsa.
पाश्चात्यभागे श्रीनिवासस्य देवि नन्दं सुनन्दं संस्मरेदेव भक्त्या । सव्यद्वारे श्रीनिवासस्य कन्ये स्मरेत्कुमुदाक्षं कुमुदन्तमेव ॥ ३,२४.
At the western side of Śrīnivāsa, O Goddess, one should devoutly remember Nanda and Sunanda; at the left entrance, O maiden, one should remember Kumudākṣa and Kumudanta.
यश्चैव देहं प्रविशेद्भक्तिपूर्वं कदा द्रक्ष्ये सादरेणैव देवि । प्रदक्षिणद्वादशकं च कृत्वा पदे पदे संस्मरेच्छ्रीनिवासम् ॥ ३,२४.
Whoever enters the temple with devotion, O Goddess, whenever he sees it with reverence, having performed twelve circumambulations, should remember Śrīnivāsa at every step.
श्रीस्वामितीर्थे सम्यगाचम्य नत्वा स्नात्वा नत्वा भूवराहं च देवि । अयुद्वारं प्रिवशेद्भक्तिपृर्वं गोविन्दगोविन्द इतिब्रुवन्वै ॥ ३,२४.
At the sacred Svāmitīrtha, after properly sipping water, bowing, bathing, and bowing to Bhūvarāha, O Goddess, one should enter the main entrance with devotion, uttering 'Govinda, Govinda.'
पश्चाद्धरेर्नमनं कार्यमेव साष्टाङ्गरूपं प्रविशेद्देवगेहम् । पुनर्विशेद्वारतः संस्थितः स पीठस्थदेवान्मानसा चिन्तयीत ॥ ३,२४.
Afterwards, one should offer prostration to Hari in the form with eight limbs, and enter the temple of the deity; then, standing at the entrance, one should mentally contemplate the deities seated on their thrones.
मध्ये पीठं श्रीनिवासं च देवी नारायणं प्रणमेत्पूर्णमेव । देवस्य सव्ये पीठभागाद्वहिश्च नमस्कार्यं गुरुदेवाय चैव ॥ ३,२४.
In the center, one should bow fully to Śrīnivāsa, O Goddess, to Nārāyaṇa; and outside the left side of the deity's seat, one should offer respects to the Guru and the deities.
पीठस्याग्राच्चाप्यधस्तात्प्रदेशे आग्नेयकोणे प्रणमेद्वै खगेन्द्र । नैरृत्यभागे व्यासदेवाय देवि नमस्कार्यो वैष्णवः सर्वदापि ॥ ३,२४.
In front and below the seat, in the southeast corner, one should bow, O king of birds; in the southwest part, O Goddess, one should always offer respects to Vyāsa and the Vaiṣṇava deities.
वायव्यकोणे भक्तिपूर्वं सुदुर्गां नमस्कुर्याद्भक्तिसंवर्धितात्मा । पीठस्योर्ध्वं ह्यग्निकोणेषु देवी धर्माधिभूताय नमो यमाय ॥ ३,२४.
In the northwest corner, with devotion, one should bow to Sudurgā, with a mind strengthened by devotion; above the seat, in the southeast corners, O Goddess, one should bow to Yama, lord of dharma.
पीठस्योर्ध्वं नैरृतस्योर्ध्वकोणे ज्ञानाधिपं प्रणमेद्वायुदेवम् । पीठस्योर्ध्वं वायुकोणे च सुभ्रूर्वैराग्यानामधिपं चैव रुद्रम् ॥ ३,२४.
Above the seat, in the upper southwest corner, one should bow to Vāyu, lord of knowledge; above the seat, in the northwest corner, one should bow to Rudra, lord of renunciation.
पीठस्योर्ध्वं त्वीशकोणे च देवि ऐश्वर्याणामधिपं चेन्द्रदेवम् । पीठस्य पूर्वे प्रणमेन्नैरृतिं च अर्याम्णानामधिपं चात्र देवि ॥ ३,२४.
Above the seat, in the northeast corner, O Goddess, one should bow to Indra, lord of sovereignty; at the eastern side of the seat, one should bow to Nirṛti and Aryaman, lord of ancestors, O Goddess.
देवस्य पीठस्य च दक्षिणे च दुर्गां नमेदुग्ररूपाभिधां च । पीठस्य कन्ये प्रणमेत्पश्चिमे वै आरोग्याणा मधिपं कामदेवम् ॥ ३,२४.
At the southern side of the deity's seat, one should bow to Durgā, known as Ugrarūpā; at the western side of the seat, one should bow to Kāmadeva, lord of health.
देवस्य पीठस्योत्तरे रुद्रदेवमनैश्वर्याणामधिपं संस्मरेच्च । पीठस्य मध्ये प्रणमेद्वै वराहं सदा कन्ये परमं पूरुषाख्यम् ॥ ३,२४.
At the northern side of the deity's seat, one should remember Rudra, lord of non-wealth; in the center of the seat, one should always bow to Varāha, and at the corner, to the Supreme Person.
तस्योपरिष्टाच्छक्तिसंज्ञां च लक्ष्मीमाधाररूपां प्रणमेच्चैव नित्यम् । तस्योपरिष्टाद्वायुकूर्मौ नमेच्च तस्योपरिष्टाच्छेषकूर्मौ नमेच्च ॥ ३,२४.
Above that, one should always bow to Lakṣmī, known as Śakti, in her form as the support; above that, one should bow to the Vāyu-tortoise, and above that, to the Śeṣa-tortoise.
तस्योपरिष्टादभिमानिनीं भुवो भूदेवतां प्रणमेच्चैव सुभ्रूः । तस्योपरिष्टाद्वरुणं संस्मरेच्च क्षीरोदधेरधिपं चैव देवम् ॥ ३,२४.
Above that, one should bow to Bhūdevī, the presiding goddess of the earth; above that, one should remember Varuṇa, the deity who is lord of the ocean of milk.
तस्योपरिष्टात्प्रणमेच्चैव लक्ष्मीं श्वेतद्वीपाख्यं कन्यके पूजयेच्च । तस्योपरिष्टात्प्रणमेच्चैव लक्ष्मीं महादिव्यां मण्डपसंज्ञकां च ॥ ३,२४.
Above that, one should bow to Lakṣmī, known as Śvetadvīpa, O maiden, and worship her; above that, one should bow to Lakṣmī, the great divine one, known as Maṇḍapa.
पीठस्य मध्ये यमसंज्ञां च लक्ष्मीं समर्चयेद्यममध्ये च देवीम् । यमस्य देवस्य च दक्षिणे च सूर्यं नमेद्दीपरूपं च भद्रे ॥ ३,२४.
In the center of the seat, one should worship Lakṣmī, known as Yama, and the goddess in the midst of Yama; to the south of Yama, one should bow to Sūrya, in the form of a lamp, O auspicious one.
यमस्य देवस्य च वामभागे श्रियं नमेद्दीपरूपां च देवीम् । यमस्य देवस्य तु चाग्रभागे हुताशनं दीपरूपं नमेच्च ॥ ३,२४.
To the left of Yama, one should bow to Śrī, in the form of a lamp, O Goddess; in front of Yama, one should bow to Hutāśana, the fire, in the form of a lamp.
देवस्याग्रे भूमिनाम्नीं नमेच्च तत्त्वाभिमानां संस्मरेच्चैव नित्यम् । पर्यङ्करूपं श्रीनिवासस्य विष्णोस्तमोभिमानां सन्नमेच्चैव दुर्गाम् ॥ ३,२४.
In front of the deity, one should bow to Bhūmi, the earth goddess, who presides over the elements, and always remember her; in the form of a couch, one should bow to Durgā, who presides over darkness, as Viṣṇu's Śrīnivāsa.
पूर्वादिगं पीठसोपानरूपमात्मानमेकं प्रणमेच्च देवि । दक्षस्थदिक्पीठसोपानरूपं ज्ञानात्मकं प्रणमेच्चैव कन्ये ॥ ३,२४.
O Devi, one should bow to the single form of the seat and step in the eastern direction as oneself; O maiden, one should also bow to the form of the seat and step in the southern direction, which is of the nature of knowledge.
पद्मस्य पूर्वस्थदले च देवि स्त्रीरूपाख्यं विमलाख्यामिमां च । ब्रह्मादिदेवान्प्रणमेच्च देवि आग्नेयकोणस्थदले शृणुत्वम् ॥ ३,२४.
O Devi, on the petal situated to the east of the lotus, bow to the one called the pure feminine form; and bow to Brahma and the other gods, O Devi, on the petal situated at the southeast corner—listen to this.
उत्कर्षनाम्नीं परमां च देवीं नमेद्रमां ब्रह्मवायू च शेषम् । दक्षस्थपद्मस्य दलाष्टके च नारायणाकारशेषादिकानाम् ॥ ३,२४.
Bow to the supreme goddess named Utkarsha, and to Indra, Brahma, and Vayu, and the rest; and on the eight petals to the south, bow to those in the forms of Narayana, Shesha, and others.
स्त्रीरूपेभ्यो नमनं कार्यमेव कन्ये मया पश्चिमस्थे दले च । गोपाख्यनारायणब्रह्मवायुविप्रादिकानां शेषरूद्रादिकानाम् ॥ ३,२४.
O maiden, one should indeed bow to the feminine forms, and on the petal situated to the west, bow to those known as Gopa, Narayana, Brahma, Vayu, Vipra, Shesha, Rudra, and others.
