Whatever is considered without marks is rare and should not be thought about; the twenty-eight marks of Hara should not be considered like those of Bhāratī, O king of birds.
Therefore, Hara is always of wrathful form, and this is true because of the absence of those marks; thus, O king of birds, there is nothing extra in Rudra's genital or belly.

If there is a slight excess in the belly, or shortness in the feet or ears, or excess at the crown—except in the wife and in Shiva, O Brahmin—
In Lakshmana, five faults are present, except for excess in the head or ankles; with excess at the navel, there are eight faults in the one who carries burdens.
With excess in the calf, there are always eight faults remembered in Shachi; likewise, O Lord of Birds, faults are to be inferred in the same way.
One should always know, O Indra among birds, that those with difficult marks, as described by the knowers of truth, are: having a large belly, hanging navel, short stature, and fierce fangs.
Eyes deep like a dark well, hanging ears, lips, and nose; hanging ankles, crooked feet, deformed nails, and dark teeth.

One resembling a burnt mountain, with a red back, is called Kali; hairless flesh, hairless head, and red cheeks.
Paleness on the forehead always, on the left shoulder and hand, O bird; fierce gaze, gaze from the feet, and a hoarse voice.
Excessive eating and drinking, breasts like dried fruit; new hair on the thighs, and likewise on the back and head.
On the forehead, three long marks, and two if equal are described; a fish in the shape of a serpent is said to be on the genital.
A fish resembling a sandal is said to be at the tip of the tongue; a fish in the shape of the genital is praised at the anus.

Thus, difficult marks exist in many forms in the Kali age; there are also many auspicious marks in me, O Lord of Birds.
The thirty-two marks of Vishnu are as stated in relation to Brahma and others; with intention and in the womb, this was spoken by Brahma to you, O Lord.
There is no contradiction, O best one, between what was spoken by Brahma and by me; the Vyasa I have described is the one with a conch-shaped neck.
Red lips and red palate, as I have stated, are united; therefore, there is truly no contradiction, as is understood by knowledge.
Those women, such as Lakshmana and others, are endowed with twenty-seven distinctive marks.
On the yoni, eyes, hands, breasts, and abdomen as well—compared to Bharati, there are five fewer marks present.
There are no marks like those of Rudra, nor any others, O King of Birds; Varuni is endowed with twenty-six marks, but is deficient by six.
On the ear, abdomen, nostrils, hair, ankle, and yoni, there is a slight excess; Indra is endowed with twenty-five marks, O King of Birds, and is always deficient by seven marks.
