O Lord of endless ears, named Su-candra, your stories have never been heard by my ears; I have heard many worldly tales, but I have seen you, O Lord, by what merit?
Seeing and not seeing the footstool of Hari again and again, my throat became choked; Rudra wept, his limbs trembling with fear: How can I again hear your stories?
O Lord, Vaikuṇṭha, named Suvāyu, whatever fragrance, flowers, and the like offered to you are never smeared on my arms, but are polluted by urine, excrement, and muddy water.
O Mukunda, by the water from the breasts, hair, armpits, and bodies of women, and by garments, fragrance, and the like not offered to you, by what merit, O Lord, have I seen you?
Touching and not touching the fragrance of Hari's discarded flowers again and again, my throat became choked; Rudra wept, his limbs trembling with fear: How can I always touch you again?
O Nṛsiṃha, Lord of the nose, my nose has never smelled the excellent fragrance of lotuses; thus, whatever fragrance, flowers, and the like not offered to you have been smelled again.
O Murāri, with beautiful nose and perfect teeth, by what merit, O Lord, have I seen your face? Smelling again and again the fragrance of Viṣṇu's discarded flowers, my throat became choked.
Rudra wept, his limbs trembling with fear: How can I smell your discarded offerings? O Murāri, my tongue, named tongue, is offered to you even through the sense of taste.
The remnants of food mixed with tulasī, especially sprinkled with water from the feet, whoever bathes daily before Murāri obtains the merit of ten million sacrifices.
Such remnants of your food have never been eaten, always radiant like the sun; whatever has not been offered to you, O Lord Viṣṇu, I have eaten many times, O Mukunda.
Food not offered at your lotus feet, by what merit, O Lord, have I seen it? Eating and not eating the food not offered to Hari, I have enjoyed your happiness, cherished by Rāma.
They say your head is the abode of heaven, adorned with a crown and curly locks; by the accumulation of merits earned over many births and by association with the virtuous, I have seen it.
Because of the accumulation of sins gathered over many births, one will lose sight of the Lord of gods. Thus, with deep devotion, Rudra wept upon seeing Hari, who is filled with all divine qualities.
O Universal Form, your lotus feet, cherished in the hearts of the lords of yogis, have been seen by me through your compassion, O Vāsudeva. How will I see them again? Thus Rudra wept.
O enemy of Mura, I have seen you, complete with conch, discus, and other emblems, pervading the three worlds. How will I, again and again, behold such a form of yours, O Lord of Lakṣmī? Thus he wept repeatedly.
Your broad chest, O all-pervading Lord, is filled with bliss, adorned with shining nails, beautiful hair, and fine body hair, full of virtues, and a splendid throat; it is gloriously decorated with the pure Kaustubha gem and Lakṣmī.
Your chest, O Lord, is soft with the touch of Śrī Tulasī, beautifully adorned with flowers, and worshipped by the moon. Such a chest I have seen by your merciful glance.
How will I see you again and again? Thus Rudra, with devotion, wept. Then, having attained the name Tūrṇa, Rudra became his son, known as Aurva.
Because he wept and wailed, he became known as Rudra and Aurva. Aurva, seeing those fit for liberation from the worlds, observed that they were utterly attached to sense objects.
Aurva, praising the lotus feet of Viṣṇu, remembering and forgetting, became choked with emotion. Those most sinful ones, taking on sinful forms, worship day by day the difficult sense objects with their wicked senses.
When will they, with a mind of renunciation, abandon these things? I do not know—thus he wept deeply. These fools strive with utmost care for sense objects, seeking gain.
For the sake of sense enjoyment, they abandon wealth and other possessions, being completely attached to sense objects. Deluded by your māyā, their intellect lost, O Universal Form, when will you release them?
Remembering and forgetting the māyā of Vāsudeva, Aurva wept, his limbs trembling with fear. Enduring great hardship in worldly life, they take to misery, abandoning their own true purpose.
Through great distress, they acquire wealth and possessions, yet all, being of most sinful conduct, abandon the hard-earned riches and goods like cattle, all in vain.
Even when a worthy recipient appears, they never give up anything, deluded by the māyā of Murāri. The wise say their lives are wasted—how have they been lost? Thus he wept deeply.
Their lives have thus gone to waste; seeing their youth and certainty, death, standing on their shoulders, laughs, O Kṛṣṇa, O Viṣṇu, but those with deluded minds do not know this.
My house should last a hundred years; my sons should live a hundred years as well. I too should live a hundred years in happiness, and my virtuous wife should remain with me.
I have cows, always full of good milk; my friends are truly joyful. I will give my son for a bride, and my daughter for marriage, as is proper.
I will give my daughter in marriage among the worthy, or wealth to the wealthy, always. The Lord Vāsudeva, seeing and not seeing these who are empty of true vision, always laughs.
I will not listen to stories; my fortune will not be lost. I will not always worship Hari; the loss of sons and others will not happen.
