She alone, the Goddess, upholds the universe, and brings about its dissolution; take refuge in that Lady of the gods, who dispels the delusion of the world.
That Great Māyā, most worthy of worship, will accomplish your purpose; Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: Thus, hearing the most excellent words of the sage—
The king sought refuge in the Goddess, who grants all desires; fasting, self-controlled, with mind fixed, and fully concentrated.
He worshipped the clay image of the Goddess with devotion; at the end of the worship, he offered as oblation his own bodily blood.
Then, the Lady of the gods, the source of the universe, full of compassion, appeared before him, pleased, and spoke: 'Ask for a boon.'
That king requested from the great Goddess the destruction of his own delusion, supreme knowledge, and a kingdom free from obstacles.
The Goddess said: 'O King, a kingdom free from obstacles, knowledge that destroys delusion—these will be granted by me to you in this very life.'
And listen further, O ruler of the earth, to the deeds of your future birth: attaining the birth of Bhānu, you will become Sāvarṇi.
There, in that Manvantara, you will attain the position of Manu with great prowess, and by my boon you will obtain a large and prosperous lineage.
Thus, after granting the boon, the Goddess disappeared; and by her grace, he became the lord of the Manvantara.
Thus, O holy one, the birth and deeds of Sāvarṇi have been described to you; whoever reads or hears this attains the grace of the Goddess.

As they continually performed worship with devotion, a pure intellect arose within them, destroying all delusion.
Those sons of Manu became absorbed in single-minded contemplation of the goddess's feet; with their pure intellect, they perceived the entire world within themselves.
A vision appeared to them swiftly, wondrous in nature; thus, at the end of twelve years, the Lady of the Universe was revealed through their austerity.
