सर्वशृङ्गारवेषाढ्या सुकुमाराङ्गवल्लरी । सौन्दर्यधारासर्वस्वा निर्व्याजकरुणामयी
She is adorned in every ornament of love, her limbs tender as young vines, the very embodiment of beauty's essence, and filled with unfeigned compassion.
निजसंलापमाधुर्यविनिर्भर्त्सितकच्छपी । कोटिकोटिरवीन्दूनां कान्तिं या बिभ्रती परा
The sweetness of her own speech puts the veena to shame, and she bears a radiance surpassing millions upon millions of suns and moons.
नानासखीभिर्दासीभिस्तथा देवाङ्गनादिभिः । सर्वाभिर्देवताभिस्तु समन्तात्परिवेष्टिता
She is surrounded on all sides by various companions, attendants, celestial maidens, and all the goddesses.
इच्छाशक्त्या ज्ञानशक्त्या क्रियाशक्त्या समन्विता । लज्जा तुष्टिस्तथा पुष्टिः कीर्तिः कान्तिः क्षमा दया
She is endowed with the powers of will, knowledge, and action; and is accompanied by Modesty, Contentment, Nourishment, Fame, Splendor, Forbearance, and Compassion.
बुद्धिर्मेधा स्मृतिर्लक्ष्मीर्मूर्तिमत्योऽङ्गनाः स्मृताः । जया च विजया चैवाप्यजिता चापराजिता
Intelligence, Wisdom, Memory, and Fortune are remembered as goddesses with form; also Victory, Triumph, the Unconquered, and the Invincible.
नित्या विलासिनी दोग्ध्री त्वघोरा मङ्गला नव । पीठशक्तय एतास्तु सेवन्ते यां पराम्बिकाम्
Eternal, playful, nourishing, fierce, auspicious, and ever-new—these powers of the seats serve the Supreme Mother.
यस्यास्तु पार्श्वभागे स्तो निधी तौ शङ्खपद्मकौ । नवरत्नवहा नद्यस्तथा वै काञ्चनस्रवाः
At her side are the two treasures, the conch and the lotus, as well as rivers bearing nine kinds of jewels and streams of gold.
सप्तधातुवहा नद्यो निधिभ्यां तु विनिर्गताः । सुधासिन्ध्वन्तगामिन्यस्ताः सर्वा नृपसत्तम
Rivers carrying the seven elements flow forth from those treasures, and all these streams, O best of kings, move toward the ocean of nectar.
सा देवी भुवनेशानी तद्वामाङ्के विराजते । सर्वेशत्वं महेशस्य यत्सङ्गादेव नान्यथा
That Goddess, the Sovereign of the worlds, shines upon his left side; the lordship of the Great Lord exists only through her union, not otherwise.
चिन्तामणिगृहस्यास्य प्रमाणं शृणु भूमिप । सहस्रयोजनायामं महान्तस्तत्प्रचक्षते
Hear, O king, the measure of this wish-fulfilling jewel palace: it is said to be a thousand yojanas in length, vast indeed.
तदुत्तरे महाशालाः पूर्वस्माद्द्विगुणाः स्मृताः । अन्तरिक्षगतं त्वेतन्निराधारं विराजते
To the north of it are great halls, said to be twice as large as the former; this palace, suspended in the sky, shines unsupported.
सङ्कोचश्च विकासश्च जायतेऽस्य निरन्तरम् । पटवत्कार्यवशतः प्रलये सर्जने तथा
It continually expands and contracts, like a cloth, according to necessity—at the time of dissolution and creation.
शालानां चैव सर्वेषां सर्वकान्तिपरावधि । चिन्तामणिगृहं प्रोक्तं यत्र देवी महोमयी
Of all the halls, the wish-fulfilling jewel palace is said to be the utmost limit of all splendor, where the great Goddess abides.
ये ये उपासकाः सन्ति प्रतिब्रह्माण्डवर्तिनः । देवेषु नागलोकेषु मनुष्येष्वितरेषु च
Whoever are the worshippers, dwelling in each universe—among gods, in the world of serpents, among humans, and others—
श्रीदेव्यास्ते च सर्वेऽपि व्रजन्त्यत्रैव भूमिप । देवीक्षेत्रे ये त्यजन्ति प्राणान्देव्यर्चने रताः
O King, all those who give up their lives here, in the sacred field of the Goddess, devoted to worshipping Her, they all go there.
ते सर्वे यान्ति तत्रैव यत्र देवी महोत्सवा । घृतकुल्या दुग्धकुल्या दधिकुल्या मधुस्रवाः
They all reach that very place where the great festival of the Goddess is held, where rivers of clarified butter, milk, curds, and flowing honey abound.
स्यन्दन्ति सरितः सर्वास्तथामृतवहाः पराः । द्राक्षारसवहाः काश्चिज्जम्बूरसवहाः पराः
All the rivers there flow with these, and also with the supreme nectar; some carry grape juice, others the juice of jambu fruits.
आम्रेक्षुरसवाहिन्यो नद्यस्तास्तु सहस्रशः । मनोरथफला वृक्षा वाप्यः कूपास्तथैव च
Thousands of rivers flow with mango juice; there are trees yielding the fruits of one's desires, and likewise ponds and wells.
यथेष्टपानफलदा न न्यूनं किञ्चिदस्ति हि । न रोगपलितं वापि जरा वापि कदाचन
There, whatever drink or fruit is wished for is obtained; nothing is ever lacking, nor is there disease, gray hair, or old age.
न चिन्ता न च मात्सर्यं कामक्रोधादिकं तथा । सर्वे युवानः सस्त्रीका सहस्रादित्यवर्चसः
There is no anxiety, no envy, nor any desire, anger, or the like; all are youthful, with their spouses, radiant as a thousand suns.
भजन्ति सततं देवीं तत्र श्रीभुवनेश्वरीम् । केचित्सलोकतापन्नाः केचित्सामीप्यतां गताः
There, all constantly worship the Goddess, Śrī Bhuvaneśvarī; some attain Her world, some attain nearness to Her.
सरूपतां गताः केचित्सार्ष्टितां च परे गताः । या यास्तु देवतास्तत्र प्रतिब्रह्माण्डवर्तिनाम्
Some attain likeness to Her, and others attain Her powers; and all the deities who dwell in each universe are present there.
समष्टयः स्थितास्तास्तु सेवन्ते जगदीश्वरीम् । सप्तकोटिमहामन्त्रा मूर्तिमन्त उपासते
All those who are collectively established there serve the Goddess, the Ruler of the Universe; the seven crore great mantras, embodied, worship Her.
महाविद्याश्च सकलाः साम्यावस्थात्मिकां शिवाम् । कारणब्रह्मरूपां तां मायाशबलविग्रहाम्
All the great Vidyās, equal in state, worship Her, who is auspicious, who is the form of the causal Brahman, whose body is tinged with Māyā.
इत्थं राजन् मया प्रोक्तं मणिद्वीपं महत्तरम् । न सूर्यचन्द्रौ नो विद्युत्कोटयोऽग्निस्तथैव च
Thus, O King, I have described to you the great jeweled island; neither sun nor moon, nor millions of lightning flashes or fires, equal its brilliance.
एतस्य भासा कोट्यंशकोट्यंशेनापि ते समाः । क्यचिद्विद्रुमसकाशं क्वचिन्मरकतच्छवि
Even a fraction of a fraction of its radiance is not matched by them; in some places it appears like coral, in others like emerald.
विद्युद्भानुसमच्छायं मध्यसूर्यसमं क्वचित् । विद्युत्कोटिमहाधारा सारकान्तिततं क्वचित्
In some places it shines like lightning or the midday sun; in others, streams of lightning pour forth, and its shores gleam with the luster of gems.
क्वचित्सिन्दूरनीलेन्द्रमाणिक्यसदृशच्छवि । हीरसारमहागर्भधगद्धगितदिक्तटम्
Elsewhere, it has the hue of vermilion, sapphire, or ruby; its directions are adorned with the brilliance of diamonds and other precious stones.
कान्त्या दावानलसमं तप्तकाञ्चनसन्निभम् । क्वचिच्चन्द्रोपलोद्गारं सूर्योद्गारं च कुत्रचित्
Its radiance is like blazing fire, resembling heated gold; in some places it emits moonstone or sunlight-like rays.
रत्नशृङ्गिसमायुक्तं रत्नप्राकारगोपुरम् । रत्नपत्रै रत्नफलैर्वक्षैश्च परिमण्डितम्
It is adorned with jewel-crested peaks, jewel-walled gateways, and decorated with jewel leaves, jewel fruits, and jewel buds.
