प्रमेहं शमयेद्धुत्वा मधुनेक्षुरसेन वा । मधुत्रितयहोमेन नयेच्छान्तिं मसूरिकाम्
By offering honey or sugarcane juice in the fire, diabetes is pacified; by performing homa with the three kinds of honey, smallpox is brought to peace.
कपिलासर्पिषा हुत्वा नयेच्छान्तिं मसूरिकाम् । उदुम्बरवटाश्वत्थैर्गोगजाश्वामयं हरेत्
By offering clarified butter made from the milk of a brown cow, smallpox is pacified; with the wood of fig, banyan, and sacred fig, diseases of cows, elephants, and horses are removed.
पिपीलिमधुवल्मीके गृहे जाते शतं शतम् । शमीसमिद्भिरन्नेन सर्पिषा जुहुयाद् द्विजः
When ants or termites appear in the house, a hundred offerings should be made; a twice-born should offer food and clarified butter with samidhs of shami tree.
तदुत्थं शान्तिमायाति शेषैस्तत्र बलिं हरेत् । अभ्रस्तनितभूकम्पालक्ष्यादौ वनवेतसः
The disturbance arising from them is pacified; with the remaining offerings, one should make a bali there; for signs like thunder and earthquake, use the wood of vetasa.
सप्ताहं जुहुयादेवं राष्ट्रे राज्यं सुखी भवेत् । यां दिशं शतजप्तेन लोष्ठेनाभिप्रताडयेत्
For seven days, one should offer thus, and the kingdom will be happy; in the direction where a hundred recitations are made, strike with a clod of earth.
ततोऽग्निमारुतारिभ्यो भयं तस्य विनश्यति । मनसैव जपेदेनां बद्धो मुच्येत बन्धनात्
Then, fear from fire, wind, and enemies is destroyed; by reciting mentally, one who is bound is freed from bondage.
भूतरोगविषादिभ्यः स्पृशञ्जप्त्वा विमोचयेत् । भूतादिभ्यो विमुच्येत जलं पीत्वाभिमन्त्रितम्
By touching and reciting, one is freed from afflictions caused by spirits, disease, and poison; by drinking water that has been consecrated, one is freed from spirits and the like.
अभिमन्त्र्य शतं भस्म न्यसेद्भूतादिशान्तये । शिरसा धारयेद्भस्म मन्त्रयित्वा तदित्यृचा
After consecrating a hundred portions of ash, place them for the pacification of spirits and the like; one should wear the ash on the head, having recited the mantra and the ṛc.
सर्वव्याधिविनिर्मुक्तः सुखी जीवेच्छतं समाः । अशक्तः कारयेच्छान्तिं विप्रं दत्त्वा तु दक्षिणाम्
Freed from all diseases, one lives happily for a hundred years; if unable, one should have the rite of peace performed by a Brahmin, giving him a fee.
अथ पुष्टिं श्रियं लक्ष्मीं पुष्पैर्हुत्वाप्नुयाद् द्विजः । श्रीकामो जुहुयात्पद्मै रक्तैः श्रियमवाप्नुयात्
Then, by offering flowers into the fire, a twice-born gains nourishment, prosperity, and Lakshmi; desiring wealth, he should offer red lotuses and obtains riches.
हुत्वा श्रियमवाप्नोति जातीपुष्पैर्नवैः शुभैः । शालितण्डुलहोमेन श्रियमाप्नोति पुष्कलाम्
By offering auspicious fresh jasmine flowers, one attains wealth; by offering rice and barley in the fire, one obtains abundant prosperity.
समिद्भिर्बिल्ववृक्षस्य हुत्वा श्रियमवाप्नुयात् । बिल्वस्य शकलैर्हुत्वा पत्रैः पुष्पैः फलैरपि
By offering kindling from the bilva tree, one attains wealth; by offering pieces of bilva wood, leaves, flowers, or fruits, the same result is gained.
श्रियमाप्नोति परमां मूलस्य शकलैरपि । समिद्भिर्बिल्ववृक्षस्य पायसेन च सर्पिषा
By offering even pieces of the bilva root, one attains supreme wealth; by offering bilva kindling, milk-rice, and clarified butter, the same is achieved.
शतं शतं च सप्ताहं हुत्वा श्रियमवाप्नुयात् । लाजैस्त्रिमधुरोपेतैर्होमे कन्यामवाप्नुयात्
By offering a hundred and a hundred for seven days, one attains wealth; by offering parched rice mixed with the three sweet things in the fire, one obtains a daughter.
अनेन विधिना कन्या वरमाप्नोति वाञ्छितम् । रक्तोत्पलशतं हुत्वा सप्ताहं हेम चाप्नुयात्
By this method, a maiden obtains the desired husband; by offering a hundred red lotuses for seven days, one gains gold.
सूर्यबिम्बे जलं हुत्वा जलस्थं हेम चाप्नुयात् । अन्नं हुत्वाप्नुयादन्नं व्रीहीन्व्रीहिपतिर्भवेत्
By offering water to the sun's disk, one obtains gold found in water; by offering food, one gains food, and by offering rice, one becomes lord of rice.
करीषचूर्णैर्वत्सस्य हुत्वा पशुमवाप्नुयात् । प्रियङ्गुपायसाज्यैश्च भवेद्धोमादिभिः प्रजा
By offering powdered cow dung of a calf, one obtains cattle; by offerings with priyaṅgu, milk-rice, and clarified butter, one gains offspring.
निवेद्य भास्करायान्नं पायसं होमपूर्वकम् । भोजयेत्तदृतुस्नातां पुत्रं परमवाप्नुयात्
Presenting food and milk-rice to the Sun with a fire offering, and feeding a woman who has bathed after her period, one obtains an excellent son.
सप्ररोहाभिरार्द्राभिरायुर्हुत्वा समाप्नुयात् । समिद्भिः क्षीरवृक्षस्य हुत्वायुषमवाप्नुयात्
By offering moist sprouting twigs, one attains long life; by offering kindling from the milk-bearing tree, one obtains longevity.
सप्ररोहाभिरार्द्राभी रक्ताभिर्मधुरत्रयैः । व्रीहीणां च शतं हुत्वा हेम चायुरवाप्नुयात्
By offering moist sprouting red twigs with the three sweet things, and by offering a hundred rice grains, one obtains gold and long life.
सुवर्णकुड्मलं हुत्वा शतमायुरवाप्नुयात् । दूर्वाभिः पयसा वापि मधुना सर्पिषापि वा
By offering a hundred golden buds, one attains a hundred years of life; with dūrvā grass, milk, honey, or clarified butter, the same is achieved.
शतं शतं च सप्ताहमपमृत्युं व्यपोहति । शमीसमिद्भिरन्नेन पयसा वा च सर्पिषा
By offering a hundred and a hundred for seven days, one removes untimely death; with śamī kindling, food, milk, or clarified butter, the same result is gained.
शतं शतं च सप्ताहमपमृत्युं व्यपोहति । न्यग्रोधसमिधो हुत्वा पायसं होमयेत्ततः
By offering a hundred and a hundred for seven days, one removes untimely death; by offering nyagrodha kindling, one should then offer milk-rice.
शतं शतं च सप्ताहमपमृत्युं व्यपोहति । क्षीराहारो जपेन्मृत्योः सप्ताहाद्विजयी भवेत्
By offering a hundred and a hundred for seven days, one removes untimely death; subsisting on milk and reciting, one becomes victorious over death in seven days.
अनश्नन्वाग्यतो जप्त्वा त्रिरात्रं मुच्यते यमात् । निमज्ज्याप्सु जपेदेवं सद्यो मृत्योर्विमुच्यते
By fasting and observing silence, reciting for three nights, one is freed from Yama; by immersing in water and reciting thus, one is instantly freed from death.
जपेद् बिल्वं समाश्रित्य मासं राज्यमवाप्नुयात् । बिल्वं हुत्वाप्नुयाद्राज्यं समूलफलपल्लवम्
Reciting while dwelling near a bilva tree for a month, one attains sovereignty; by offering bilva with root, fruit, and sprout, one obtains a kingdom.
हुत्वा पद्मशतं मासं राज्यमाप्नोत्यकण्टकम् । यवागूं ग्राममाप्नोति हुत्वा शालिसमन्वितम्
By offering a hundred lotuses for a month, one attains a kingdom free from obstacles; by offering barley gruel, one attains a village, and by offering rice gruel, one attains a village with rice.
अश्वत्थसमिधो हुत्वा युद्धादौ जयमाप्नुयात् । अर्कस्य समिधो हुत्वा सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत्
By offering fuel from the sacred fig tree, one attains victory at the outset of battle; by offering fuel from the arka tree, one becomes victorious everywhere.
संयुक्तैः पयसा पत्रैः पुष्पैर्वा वेतसस्य च । पायसेन शतं हुत्वा सप्ताहं वृष्टिमाप्नुयात्
By offering with milk, leaves, or flowers of the vetasa plant, and by offering a hundred with rice pudding, one attains rain for seven days.
नाभिदघ्ने जले जप्त्वा सप्ताहं वृष्टिमाप्नुयात् । जले भस्मशतं हुत्वा महावृष्टिं निवारयेत्
By reciting in water up to the navel, one attains rain for seven days; by offering a hundred portions of ash in water, one averts heavy rainfall.
