शृङ्गारसिन्धुलहरीं भक्तानुग्रहकातराम् । मल्लिकामालतीमालाकेशपाशविराजिताम्
She is a wave in the ocean of love, eager to bestow grace upon devotees, her hair beautifully decorated with garlands of jasmine and mālatī flowers.
सुकुमाराङ्गलतिकां रासमण्डलमध्यगाम् । वराभयकरां शान्तां शश्वत्सुस्थिरयौवनाम्
Her limbs are tender as young vines, she stands at the center of the rāsa circle, her hands grant boons and dispel fear, and her youth is eternally steady and serene.
रत्नसिंहासनासीनां गोपीमण्डलनायिकाम् । कृष्णप्राणाधिकां वेदबोधितां परमेश्वरीम्
Seated upon a jeweled throne, the leader of the circle of gopis, more dear to Krishna than life itself, revealed by the Vedas as the supreme goddess.
एवं ध्यात्वा ततो बाह्ये शालग्रामे घटेऽथवा । यन्त्रे वाष्टदले देवीं पूजयेत्तु विधानतः
Having meditated thus, then externally, in a Shalagrama stone, a pot, or a yantra with eight petals, one should worship the goddess according to the proper method.
आवाह्य देवीं तत्पश्चादासनादि प्रदीयताम् । मूलमन्त्रं समुच्चार्य चासनादीनि कल्पयेत्
After invoking the goddess, one should then offer a seat and other items; reciting the root mantra, arrange the seat and related articles.
पाद्यं तु पादयोर्दद्यान्मस्तकेऽर्घ्यं समीरितम् । मुखे त्वाचमनीयं स्यात्त्रिवारं मूलविद्यया
Offer water for her feet, arghya upon her head, and for her mouth, give water for sipping three times with the root mantra.
मधुपर्कं ततो दद्यादेकां गां च पयस्विनीम् । ततो नयेत्स्नानशालां तां च तत्रैव भावयेत्
Then offer madhuparka and a single milch cow; afterwards, lead her to the bathing chamber and contemplate her there.
अभ्यङ्गादिस्नानविधिं कल्पयित्वाथ वाससी । ततश्च चन्दनं दद्यान्नानालङ्कारपूर्वकम्
Having prepared the procedures for oil massage and bathing, then provide garments, and afterwards offer sandalwood along with various ornaments.
पुष्पमाला बहुविधास्तुलसीमञ्जरीयुताः । पारिजातप्रसूनानि शतपत्रादिकानि च
Garlands of many kinds, adorned with tulasi flower clusters, parijata blossoms, and lotus flowers, should be offered.
ततः कुर्यात्पवित्रं तत्परिवारार्चनं विभोः । अग्नीशासुरवायव्यमध्ये दिक्ष्वङ्गपूजनम्
Then one should purify the place, worship the goddess's attendants, and perform the worship of the limbs in the directions—fire, lord of ghosts, wind, and others.
कृत्वा पश्चादष्टदले दक्षिणावर्ततोऽग्रतः । मालावतीमग्रदले वह्निकोणे च माधवीम्
Afterwards, on the eight-petaled lotus, starting from the right and in front, worship Malavati on the foremost petal, Madhavi in the fire corner.
रत्नमालां दक्षिणे च नैर्ऋत्ये तु सुशीलकाम् । पश्चाद्दले शशिकलां पूजयेन्मतिमान्नरः
Ratnamala on the right, Sushilaka in the southwest, and on the rear petal, Shashikala; the wise man should worship them.
मारुते पारिजातां चाप्युत्तरे च परावतीम् । ईशानकोणे सम्पूज्या सुन्दरी प्रियकारिणी
In the wind direction, worship Parijata, and in the north, Paravati; in the Ishana corner, worship Sundari, the bringer of delight.
ब्राह्म्यादयस्तु तद्बाह्येऽप्याशापालांस्तु भूपुरे । वज्रादिकान्यायुधानि देवीमित्थं प्रपूजयेत्
Outside of that, Brahmi and others, as well as the guardians of the directions in the circle; the goddess should be worshipped with vajra and other weapons.
ततो देवीं सावरणां गन्धाद्यैरुपचारकैः । राजोपचारसहितैः पूजयेन्मतिमान्नरः
Then, the wise man should worship the goddess Savarna with fragrances and other offerings, along with royal honors.
ततः स्तुवीत देवेशीं स्तोत्रैर्नामसहस्रकैः । सहस्रसंख्यं च जपं नित्यं कुर्यात्प्रयत्नतः
Afterwards, praise the goddess of the gods with hymns and thousands of names; daily, with effort, recite a thousand repetitions.
य एवं पूजयेद्देवीं राधां रासेश्वरीं पराम् । स भवेद्विष्णुतुल्यस्तु गोलोकं याति सन्ततम्
Whoever worships the goddess Radha, the supreme queen of the rasa dance, becomes equal to Vishnu and attains Goloka eternally.
यः कार्तिक्यां पौर्णमास्यां राधाजन्मोत्सव बुधः । कुरुते तस्य सान्निध्यं दद्याद्रासेश्वरी परा
Whoever, wise, celebrates Radha's birth festival on the full moon of Kartika, receives the presence of the supreme queen of the rasa dance.
केनचित्कारणेनैव राधा वृन्दावने वने । वृषभानुसुता जाता गोलोकस्थायिनी सदा
For some reason, Radha, daughter of Vrishabhanu, was born in the forest of Vrindavan, though she always resides in Goloka.
अत्रोक्तानां तु मन्त्राणां वर्णसंख्याविधानतः । पुरश्चरणकर्मोक्तं दशांशं होममाचरेत्
According to the prescribed number of syllables for the mantras mentioned here, one should perform a homa as a tenth part of the purashcharana ritual.
तिलैस्त्रिस्वादुसंयुक्तैर्जुहुयाद्भक्तिभावतः । नारद उवाच स्तोत्रं वद मुने सम्यग्येन देवी प्रसीदति
One should offer with devotion sesame seeds mixed with three kinds of sweets. Narada said: O sage, tell me the hymn by which the Goddess is truly pleased.
श्रीनारायण उवाच नमस्ते परमेशानि रासमण्डलवासिनि । रासेश्वरि नमस्तेऽस्तु कृष्णप्राणाधिकप्रिये
Sri Narayana said: Salutations to You, Supreme Lady, Dweller in the circle of the rasa dance. O Queen of the rasa, I bow to You, Beloved of Krishna, dearer to Him than life.
नमस्त्रैलोक्यजननि प्रसीद करुणार्णवे । ब्रह्मविष्ण्वादिभिर्देवैर्वन्द्यमानपदाम्बुजे
Salutations to You, Mother of the three worlds, be gracious, O ocean of compassion, whose lotus feet are worshipped by Brahma, Vishnu, and other gods.
नमः सरस्वतीरूपे नमः सावित्रि शङ्करि । गङ्गापद्मावतीरूपे षष्ठि मङ्गलचण्डिके
Salutations to You in the form of Sarasvati, salutations to You as Savitri and Shankari; in the forms of Ganga and Padmavati, as Shashti and auspicious Chandika.
नमस्ते तुलसीरूपे नमो लक्ष्मीस्वरूपिणि । नमो दुर्गे भगवति नमस्ते सर्वरूपिणि
Salutations to You in the form of Tulasi, salutations to You as Lakshmi; salutations to You, O Goddess Durga, salutations to You who take all forms.
मूलप्रकृतिरूपां त्वां भजामः करुणार्णवाम् । संसारसागरादस्मानुद्धराम्ब दयां कुरु
We worship You as the form of primordial nature, O ocean of compassion; Mother, lift us from the ocean of worldly existence, show us Your mercy.
इदं स्तोत्रं त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेद्राधां स्मरन्नरः । न तस्य दुर्लभं किञ्चित्कदाचिच्च भविष्यति
Whoever recites this hymn at the three junctions of the day, remembering Radha, will never find anything unattainable at any time.
देहान्ते च वसेन्नित्यं गोलोके रासमण्डले । इदं रहस्यं परमं न चाख्येयं तु कस्यचित्
At the end of life, he will always dwell in Goloka, in the circle of the rasa dance. This is the highest secret and must not be revealed to anyone.
अधुना शृणु विप्रेन्द्र दुर्गादेव्या विधानकम् । यस्याः स्मरणमात्रेण पलायन्ते महापदः
Now listen, O best of Brahmins, to the procedure for worshipping Goddess Durga, by whose mere remembrance great calamities flee.
एनां न भजते यो हि तादृङ्नास्त्येव कुत्रचित् । सर्वोपास्या सर्वमाता शैवी शक्तिर्महाद्भुता
He who does not worship Her in this way is nowhere to be found; She is worshipped by all, Mother of all, the Shaiva power, wondrous indeed.
