श्रीनारायण उवाच शृणु नारद वक्ष्यामि रहस्यं श्रुतिचोदितम् । यन्न कस्यापि चाख्यातं सारात्सारं परात्परम्
Of whom the entire universe, both moving and unmoving, is a portion and subject; by devotion to whom liberation is attained—tell now that method.
श्रुत्वा परस्मै नो वाच्यं यतोऽतीव रहस्यकम् । मूलप्रकृतिरूपिण्याः संविदो जगदुद्भवे
Sri Narayana said: Listen, Narada, I will tell you the secret prescribed by the scriptures, which has not been revealed to anyone, the essence of essences, the highest of the high.
प्रादुर्भूतं शक्तियुग्मं प्राणबुद्ध्यधिदैवतम् । जीवानां चैव सर्वेषां नियन्तृप्रेरकं सदा
Having heard it, it should not be spoken to another, for it is extremely secret, concerning the consciousness of the Primordial Nature at the origin of the universe.
तदधीनं जगत्सर्वं विराडादिचराचरम् । यावत्तयोः प्रसादो न तावन्मोक्षो हि दुर्लभः
A pair of powers arose, presiding over life and intellect, always the rulers and inspirers of all living beings.
ततस्तयोः प्रसादार्थं नित्यं सेवेत तद्द्वयम् । तत्रादौ राधिकामन्त्रं शृणु नारद भक्तितः
Therefore, for their grace, one should always serve both of them; now, Nārada, listen with devotion to the mantra of Rādhikā first.
ब्रह्मविष्ण्वादिभिर्नित्यं सेवितो यः परात्परः । श्रीराधेति चतुर्थ्यन्तं वह्नेर्जाया ततः परम्
That supreme mantra, eternally worshipped by Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and others, is 'Śrī Rādhe' in the dative case, the foremost consort of Agni.
षडक्षरो महामन्त्रो धर्माद्यर्थप्रकाशकः । मायाबीजादिकश्चायं वाञ्छाचिन्तामणिः स्मृतः
This six-syllabled great mantra reveals dharma and other meanings; it contains the seed of Māyā and is known as the wish-fulfilling gem.
वक्त्रकोटिसहस्रैस्तु जिह्वाकोटिशतैरपि । एतन्मन्त्रस्य माहात्म्यं वर्णितुं नैव शक्यते
Even with a thousand crore mouths and a hundred crore tongues, the greatness of this mantra cannot truly be described.
जग्राह प्रथमं मन्त्रं श्रीकृष्णो भक्तितत्परः । उपदेशान्मूलदेव्या गोलोके रासमण्डले
Śrī Kṛṣṇa, devoted to bhakti, first received this mantra from the original Goddess in Goloka, within the circle of the rāsa dance.
विष्णुस्तेनोपदिष्टस्तु तेन ब्रह्मा विराट् तथा । तेन धर्मस्तेन चाहमित्येषा हि परम्परा
Viṣṇu was instructed by Him, then Virāṭ Brahmā by Viṣṇu, then Dharma by Brahmā, and then I; this is the lineage.
अहं जपामि तं मन्त्रं तेनाहमृषिरीडितः । ब्रह्माद्याः सकला देवा नित्यं ध्यायन्ति तां मुदा
I recite that mantra, and thus I am called its seer; Brahmā and all the other gods always meditate upon her with joy.
कृष्णार्चायां नाधिकारो यतो राधार्चनं विना । वैष्णवैः सकलैस्तस्मात्कर्तव्यं राधिकार्चनम्
There is no right to worship Kṛṣṇa without worshipping Rādhā; therefore, all Vaiṣṇavas must worship Rādhikā.
कृष्णप्राणाधिदेवी सा तदधीनो विभुर्यतः । रासेश्वरी तस्य नित्यं तया हीनो न तिष्ठति
She is the presiding goddess of Kṛṣṇa's very life, and the Lord is dependent on her; as the queen of the rāsa, he never exists without her.
राध्नोति सकलान्कामांस्तस्माद्राधेति कीर्तिता । अत्रोक्तानां मनूनां च ऋषिरस्म्यहमेव च
Because she fulfills all desires, she is called Rādhā; of the mantras mentioned here, I am the seer.
छन्दश्च देवी गायत्री देवतात्र च राधिका । तारो बीजं शक्तिबीजं शक्तिस्तु परिकीर्तिता
The meter is Devī Gāyatrī, the deity here is Rādhikā; the seed is Tāra, the power-seed is Śakti, and the energy is so proclaimed.
मूलावृत्त्या षडङ्गानि कर्तव्यानीतरत्र च । अथ ध्यायेन्महादेवीं राधिकां रासनायिकाम्
With the root repetition, the six limbs must be performed as elsewhere; then one should meditate on the great Goddess Rādhikā, the leader of the rāsa dance.
पूर्वोक्तरीत्या तु मुने सामवेदे विगीतया । श्वेतचम्पकवर्णाभां शरदिन्दुसमाननाम्
O sage, according to the method previously described and sung in the Sāma Veda, meditate on her with the radiance of white campaka flowers and a face like the autumn moon.
कोटिचन्द्रप्रतीकाशां शरदम्भोजलोचनाम् । बिम्बाधरां पृथुश्रोणीं काञ्चीयुतनितम्बिनीम्
Her brilliance equals ten million moons, her eyes are like autumn lotuses, her lips are bimba fruit, her hips broad, and her waist adorned with a girdle.
कुन्दपङ्क्तिसमानाभदन्तपङ्क्तिविराजिताम् । क्षौमाम्बरपरीधानां वह्निशुद्धांशुकान्विताम्
Her teeth shine in rows like clusters of jasmine, she is clothed in fine linen, and adorned with garments purified by fire.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यां करिकुम्भयुगस्तनीम् । सदा द्वादशवर्षीयां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
Her face is slightly smiling and radiant, her breasts are like twin elephant pots, she is ever twelve years old, and adorned with jeweled ornaments.
शृङ्गारसिन्धुलहरीं भक्तानुग्रहकातराम् । मल्लिकामालतीमालाकेशपाशविराजिताम्
She is a wave in the ocean of love, eager to bestow grace upon devotees, her hair beautifully decorated with garlands of jasmine and mālatī flowers.
सुकुमाराङ्गलतिकां रासमण्डलमध्यगाम् । वराभयकरां शान्तां शश्वत्सुस्थिरयौवनाम्
Her limbs are tender as young vines, she stands at the center of the rāsa circle, her hands grant boons and dispel fear, and her youth is eternally steady and serene.
रत्नसिंहासनासीनां गोपीमण्डलनायिकाम् । कृष्णप्राणाधिकां वेदबोधितां परमेश्वरीम्
Seated upon a jeweled throne, the leader of the circle of gopis, more dear to Krishna than life itself, revealed by the Vedas as the supreme goddess.
एवं ध्यात्वा ततो बाह्ये शालग्रामे घटेऽथवा । यन्त्रे वाष्टदले देवीं पूजयेत्तु विधानतः
Having meditated thus, then externally, in a Shalagrama stone, a pot, or a yantra with eight petals, one should worship the goddess according to the proper method.
आवाह्य देवीं तत्पश्चादासनादि प्रदीयताम् । मूलमन्त्रं समुच्चार्य चासनादीनि कल्पयेत्
After invoking the goddess, one should then offer a seat and other items; reciting the root mantra, arrange the seat and related articles.
पाद्यं तु पादयोर्दद्यान्मस्तकेऽर्घ्यं समीरितम् । मुखे त्वाचमनीयं स्यात्त्रिवारं मूलविद्यया
Offer water for her feet, arghya upon her head, and for her mouth, give water for sipping three times with the root mantra.
मधुपर्कं ततो दद्यादेकां गां च पयस्विनीम् । ततो नयेत्स्नानशालां तां च तत्रैव भावयेत्
Then offer madhuparka and a single milch cow; afterwards, lead her to the bathing chamber and contemplate her there.
अभ्यङ्गादिस्नानविधिं कल्पयित्वाथ वाससी । ततश्च चन्दनं दद्यान्नानालङ्कारपूर्वकम्
Having prepared the procedures for oil massage and bathing, then provide garments, and afterwards offer sandalwood along with various ornaments.
पुष्पमाला बहुविधास्तुलसीमञ्जरीयुताः । पारिजातप्रसूनानि शतपत्रादिकानि च
Garlands of many kinds, adorned with tulasi flower clusters, parijata blossoms, and lotus flowers, should be offered.
ततः कुर्यात्पवित्रं तत्परिवारार्चनं विभोः । अग्नीशासुरवायव्यमध्ये दिक्ष्वङ्गपूजनम्
Then one should purify the place, worship the goddess's attendants, and perform the worship of the limbs in the directions—fire, lord of ghosts, wind, and others.
