तस्यैव पादरजसा सद्यःपूता वसुन्धरा । मोदते स च वैकुण्ठे यावच्चन्द्रदिवाकरौ
By the dust of his feet, the earth is instantly purified; and he enjoys happiness in Vaikuntha as long as the moon and sun endure.
पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य हरिभक्तिं लभेद् ध्रुवम् । जीवन्मुक्तोऽतितेजस्वी तपस्विप्रवरो भवेत्
Having again obtained an excellent birth, he surely attains devotion to Hari; he becomes liberated while living, exceedingly radiant, and the foremost among ascetics.
स्वधर्मनिरतः शुद्धो विद्वांश्च स जितेन्द्रियः । मीनकर्कटयोर्मध्ये गाढं तपति भास्करः
Engaged in his own duty, pure, learned, and self-controlled, he performs intense austerity when the sun is between Pisces and Cancer.
भारते यो ददात्येव जलमेव सुवासितम् । स मोदते च कैलासे यावदिन्द्राश्चतुर्दश
Whoever gives fragrant water in Bharata, he enjoys happiness in Kailasa as long as the fourteen Indras reign.
पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य रूपवांश्च सुखी भवेत् । शिवभक्तश्च तेजस्वी वेदवेदाङ्गपारगः
Having again obtained an excellent birth, he becomes handsome and happy, a devotee of Shiva, radiant, and accomplished in the Vedas and their branches.
वैशाखे सक्तुदानं च यः करोति द्विजातये । सक्तुरेणुप्रमाणाब्दं मोदते शिवमन्दिरे
Whoever gives saktu (parched grain) to a twice-born in the month of Vaishakha, enjoys happiness in Shiva’s abode for as many years as there are particles of saktu.
करोति भारते यो हि कृष्णजन्माष्टमीव्रतम् । शतजन्मकृतं पापं मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
Whoever observes the vow of Krishna Janmashtami in Bharata is freed from the sin accumulated over a hundred births—of this there is no doubt.
वैकुण्ठे मोदते सोऽपि यावदिन्द्राश्चतुर्दश । पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य कृष्णे भक्तिंलभेद् ध्रुवम्
He too enjoys happiness in Vaikuntha as long as the fourteen Indras reign; having again obtained an excellent birth, he surely attains devotion to Krishna.
इहैव भारते वर्षे शिवरात्रिं करोति यः । मोदते शिवलोके स सप्तमन्वन्तरावधि
Whoever observes Shivaratri here in the land of Bharata, enjoys happiness in Shiva’s world for the duration of seven Manvantaras.
शिवाय शिवरात्रौ च बिल्वपत्रं ददाति यः । पत्रमानयुगं तत्र मोदते शिवमन्दिरे
Whoever offers a bilva leaf to Shiva on Shivaratri, enjoys happiness in Shiva’s abode for as many ages as there are veins in the leaf.
पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य शिवभक्तिं लभेद्ध्रुवम् । विद्यावान्पुत्रवाञ्छ्रीमान् प्रजावान्भूमिमान्भवेत्
Again attaining an excellent birth, one surely attains devotion to Shiva, and becomes learned, possessed of sons, prosperous, endowed with progeny and land.
चैत्रमासेऽथवा माघे शङ्करं योऽर्चयेद्व्रती । करोति नर्तनं भक्त्या वेत्रपाणिर्दिवानिशम्
Whoever, observing a vow, worships Shankara in the month of Chaitra or Magha, and dances with devotion, holding a staff in hand, day and night—
मासं वाप्यर्धमासं वा दश सप्त दिनानि च । दिनमानयुगं सोऽपि शिवलोके महीयते
Whether for a month, half a month, or for ten or seven days, or even for a single day and night, he is honored in Shiva's realm.
श्रीरामनवमीं यो हि करोति भारते पुमान् । सप्तमन्वन्तरं यावन्मोदते विष्णुमन्दिरे
Whoever, in India, observes Shri Rama's birthday festival, enjoys happiness in Vishnu's abode for seven manvantaras.
पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य रामभक्तिं लभेद्ध्रुवम् । जितेन्द्रियाणां प्रवरो महांश्च धनवान्भवेत्
Again attaining an excellent birth, one surely attains devotion to Rama, and becomes foremost among those who have mastered their senses, great, and wealthy.
शारदीयां महापूजां प्रकृतेर्यः करोति च । महिषैश्छागलैर्मेषैः खड्गैर्भेकादिभिः सति
Whoever performs the great autumnal worship of the Goddess with buffaloes, goats, rams, swords, frogs, and the like—
नैवेद्यैरुपहारैश्च धूपदीपादिभिस्तथा । नृत्यगीतादिभिर्वाद्यैर्नानाकौतुकमङ्गलम्
With offerings of food, gifts, incense, lamps, and so forth, with dance, song, and music, and with various festivities and auspicious rites—
शिवलोके वसेत्सोऽपि सप्तमन्वन्तरावधि । पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य नरो बुद्धिं च निर्मलाम्
He dwells in Shiva's realm for seven manvantaras, and, again attaining an excellent birth, is born with pure intellect.
अतुलां श्रियमाप्नोति पुत्रपौत्रविवर्धनीम् । महाप्रभावयुक्तश्च गजवाजिसमन्वितः
He attains incomparable wealth, which increases sons and grandsons, is endowed with great power, and accompanied by elephants and horses.
राजराजेश्वरः सोऽपि भवेदेव न संशयः । ततः शुक्लाष्टमीं प्राप्य महालक्ष्मीं च योऽर्चयेत्
He becomes a king of kings—of this there is no doubt. Then, attaining the bright eighth lunar day, whoever worships Mahalakshmi—
नित्यं भक्त्या पक्षमेकं पुण्यक्षेत्रे च भारते । दत्त्वा तस्यै प्रकृष्टानि चोपचाराणि षोडश
With devotion, daily for a fortnight, in a sacred place in India, offering her the sixteen excellent services—
गोलोके च वसेत्सोऽपि यावदिन्द्राश्चतुर्दश । पुनः सुयोनिं सम्प्राप्य राजराजेश्वरो भवेत्
He dwells in Goloka as long as the fourteen Indras reign, and, again attaining an excellent birth, becomes a king of kings.
कार्तिकीपूर्णिमायां च कृत्वा तु रासमण्डलम् । गोपानां शतकं कृत्वा गोपीनां शतकं तथा
On the full moon of Kartika, performing the rasa circle, making a hundred cowherds and a hundred cowherdesses—
शिलायां प्रतिमायां च श्रीकृष्णं राधया सह । भारते पूजयेद्भक्त्या चोपचाराणि षोडश
And worshipping Shri Krishna together with Radha, in India, with devotion, using sixteen services, at a stone image—
गोलोके वसते सोऽपि यावद्वै ब्रह्मणो वयः । भारतं पुनरागत्य कृष्णे भक्तिं लभेद्दृढाम्
He dwells in Goloka for the lifespan of Brahma, and, returning to India, attains firm devotion to Krishna.
क्रमेण सुदृढां भक्तिं लब्ध्वा मन्त्रं हरेरहो । देहं त्यक्त्वा च गोलोकं पुनरेव प्रयाति सः
Gradually attaining steadfast devotion, and receiving the mantra of Hari, upon leaving the body, he again goes to Goloka.
ततः कृष्णस्य सारूप्यं पार्षदप्रवरो भवेत् । पुनस्तत्पतनं नास्ति जरामृत्युहरो भवेत्
Then he attains resemblance to Krishna, becomes foremost among his attendants, and never falls again; he is freed from old age and death.
शुक्लां वाप्यथवा कृष्णां करोत्येकादशीं च यः । वैकुण्ठे मोदते सोऽपि यावद्वै ब्रह्मणो वयः
Whoever observes either the bright or dark Ekadashi, enjoys happiness in Vaikuntha for the lifespan of Brahma.
भारते पुनरागत्य कृष्णभक्तिं लभेद्ध्रुवम् । क्रमेण भक्तिं सुदृढां करोत्येकां हरेरहो
Returning again to Bharata, one certainly attains devotion to Krishna; gradually, one establishes firm, singular devotion to Hari—ah!
देहं त्यक्त्वा च गोलोकं पुनरेव प्रयाति सः । ततः कृष्णस्य सारूप्यं सम्प्राप्य पार्षदो भवेत्
Having abandoned the body, he again goes to Goloka; there, attaining resemblance to Krishna, he becomes an attendant.
