यथादितिः कश्यपे च वसिष्ठेऽरुन्धती सखी । यथाहल्या गौतमे च देवहूतिश्च कर्दमे
As Aditi is to Kaśyapa, Arundhatī to Vasiṣṭha, Ahalyā to Gautama, and Devahūti to Kardama—
यथा बृहस्पतौ तारा शतरूपा मनौ यथा । यथा च दक्षिणा यज्ञे यथा स्वाहा हुताशने
As Tārā is to Bṛhaspati, Śatarūpā to Manu, as Dakṣiṇā is at the sacrifice, and Svāhā to the Fire-god—
यथा शची महेन्द्रे च यथा पुष्टिर्गणेश्वरे । देवसेना यथा स्कन्दे धर्मे भूर्तिर्यथा सती
As Śacī is to Indra, Puṣṭi to Gaṇeśvara, Devasenā to Skanda, and Bhūti, the chaste one, to Dharma—
सौभाग्या सुप्रिया त्वं च शङ्खचूडे तथा भव । अनेन सार्धं सुचिरं सुन्दरेण च सुन्दरि
So may you, beautiful one, be fortunate and dearly beloved to Śaṅkhacūḍa; live long with this handsome one, O lovely lady.
स्थाने स्थाने विहारं च यथेच्छं कुरु सन्ततम् । पश्चात्प्राप्यसि गोलोके श्रीकृष्णं पुनरेव च । चतुर्भुजं च वैकुण्ठे शङ्खचूडे मृते सति
In every place, enjoy as you wish, continually; afterwards, upon Śaṅkhacūḍa’s death, you will attain Śrī Kṛṣṇa in Goloka again, and the four-armed one in Vaikuṇṭha.
शङ्खचूडेन सह तुलसीसङ्गमवर्णनम् नारद उवाच विचित्रमिदमाख्यानं भवता समुदाहृतम् । श्रुतेन येन मे तृप्तिर्न कदापि हि जायते
The union of Tulasī with Śaṅkhacūḍa is described. Nārada said: This wondrous tale you have recounted—I never tire of hearing it.
ततः परं तु यज्जातं तत्त्वं वद महामते । श्रीनारायण उवाच इत्येवमाशिषं दत्त्वा स्वालयं च ययौ विधिः
Now, O wise one, tell me truly what happened next. Śrī Nārāyaṇa said: Thus, having given his blessing, Brahmā returned to his own abode.
गान्धर्वेण विवाहेन जगृहे तां च दानवः । स्वर्गे दुन्दुभिवाद्यं च पुष्पवृष्टिर्बभूव ह
The Dānava took her as his wife through the Gandharva marriage rite; in heaven, there was the sound of celestial drums and a shower of flowers.
स रेमे रामया सार्धं वासगेहे मनोरमे । मूर्च्छां सा प्राप तुलसी नवसङ्गमसङ्गता
He enjoyed himself with Rāma in the delightful abode, and Tulasī, united in new intimacy, fell into a swoon.
निमग्ना निर्जले साध्वी सम्भोगसुखसागरे । चतुःषष्टिकलामानं चतुःषष्टिविधं सुखम्
Immersed in the ocean of pleasure, the virtuous woman experienced the sixty-four arts, the sixty-four kinds of delight.
कामशास्त्रे यन्निरुक्तं रसिकानां यथेप्सितम् । अङ्गप्रत्यङ्गसंश्लेषपूर्वकं स्त्रीमनोहरम्
Whatever is described in the science of love, whatever pleases the connoisseurs, preceded by the embrace of limbs and sub-limbs, enchanting to women—
तत्सर्वं रसशृङ्गारं चकार रसिकेश्वरः । अतीव रम्यदेशे च सर्वजन्तुविवर्जिते
All that, the lord of pleasure performed, in a place exceedingly lovely, devoid of all other creatures.
पुष्पचन्दनतल्पे च पुष्पचन्दनवायुना । पुष्पोद्याने नदीतीरे पुष्पचन्दनचर्चिते
On a bed of flowers and sandalwood, with breezes scented by flowers and sandalwood, in a flower garden by the riverbank, adorned with flowers and sandalwood.
गहीत्वा रसिको रासे पुष्पचन्दनचर्चिताम् । भूषितो भूषणेनैव रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
The connoisseur, in the dance, took her, adorned with flowers and sandalwood, ornamented with jewels and ornaments.
सुरते विरतिर्नास्ति तयोः सुरतिविज्ञयोः । जहार मानसं भर्तुर्लोलया लीलया सती
For those two, experts in love, there was no cessation of amorous play; the chaste woman, with playful charm, captivated her husband's mind.
चेतनां रसिकायाश्च जहार रसभाववित् । वक्षसश्चन्दनं राज्ञस्तिलकं विजहार सा
And the expert in pleasure captivated the consciousness of the connoisseur; she removed the sandal paste and tilaka from the king's chest.
स च जहार तस्याश्च सिन्दूरं बिन्दुपत्रकम् । तद्वक्षस्युरोजे च नखरेखां ददौ मुदा
He removed her sindūra and the dot and leaf mark; and on her breast, with delight, he left the mark of his nails.
सा ददौ तद्वामपार्श्वे करभूषणलक्षणम् । राजा तदोष्ठपुटके ददौ रदनदंशनम्
She gave him, on her left side, the sign of the elephant ornament; the king, on her lips, left the mark of his teeth.
तद्गण्डयुगले सा च प्रददौ तच्चतुर्गुणम् । आलिङ्गनं चुम्बनं च जङ्घादिमर्दनं तथा
On her cheeks, she gave him four times as much; embrace, kissing, and massaging of thighs and other limbs as well.
एवं परस्परं क्रीडां चक्रतुस्तौ विजानतौ । सुरते विरते तौ च समुत्थाय परस्परम्
Thus, the two, knowing, played with each other; when their amorous play ceased, they arose together.
सुवेषं चक्रतुस्तत्र यद्यन्मनसि वाञ्छितम् । चन्दनैः कुङ्कुमारक्तैः सा तस्य तिलकं ददौ
There, they adorned themselves as they wished in their minds; with sandalwood and red kuṅkuma, she gave him a tilaka.
सर्वाङ्गे सुन्दरे रम्ये चकार चानुलेपनम् । सुवासं चैव ताम्बूलं वह्निशुद्धे च वाससी
On his beautiful and charming body, she applied ointment; fine garments and betel, and clothes purified by fire.
पारिजातस्य कुसुमं जरारोगहरं परम् । अमूल्यरत्ननिर्माणमङ्गुलीयकमुत्तमम्
A flower of pārijāta, supreme, removing age and disease; a ring of priceless gems, excellent.
सुन्दरं च मणिवरं त्रिषु लोकेषु दुर्लभम् । दासी तवाहमित्येवं समुच्चार्य पुनः पुनः
A beautiful precious jewel, rare in the three worlds; saying again and again, 'I am your servant.'
ननाम परया भक्त्या स्वामिनं गुणशालिनम् । सस्मिता तन्मुखाम्भोजं लोचनाभ्यां पुनः पुनः
She bowed with supreme devotion to her master, endowed with virtues; smiling, she gazed again and again at his lotus-like face with her eyes.
निमेषरहिताभ्यां चाप्यपश्यत्कामसुन्दरम् । स च तां च समाकृष्य चकार वक्षसि प्रियाम्
With eyes unblinking, she looked upon the beautiful one, desired by love; and he, drawing her close, placed his beloved upon his chest.
सस्मितं वाससाच्छन्नं ददर्श मुखपङ्कजम् । चुचुम्ब कठिने गण्डे बिम्बोष्ठौ पुनरेव च
He beheld her lotus-face, smiling and veiled in cloth, and kissed her firmly on the cheek and again on her bimba-like lips.
ददौ तस्यै वस्त्रयुग्मं वरुणादाहृतं च यत् । तदाहृतां रत्नमालां त्रिषु लोकेषु दुर्लभाम्
He gave her a pair of garments brought by Varuna, and a garland of gems, rare in all the three worlds.
ददौ मञ्जीरयुग्मं च स्वाहाया आहृतं च यत् । केयूरयुग्मं छायाया रोहिण्याश्चैव कुण्डलम्
He gave her a pair of anklets, brought by Svaha, and a pair of armlets from Chaya, and earrings from Rohini.
अङ्गुलीयकरत्नानि रत्याश्च करभूषणम् । शङ्खं च रुचिरं चित्रं यद्दत्तं विश्वकर्मणा
He gave her jeweled rings and hand ornaments from Rati, and a beautiful, variegated conch crafted by Vishvakarma.
