वरं वरेण्यं वरदं वरिष्ठं वरकारणम् । गोपिकागोपवृन्दानां सर्वेषां प्रवरं प्रभुम्
The bestower of boons, the most excellent, the giver of blessings, the supreme cause of all boons, the foremost Lord of the gopīs, the cowherds, and all beings.
निरीहं च निराकारं निर्लिप्तं च निराश्रयम् । निर्गुणं च निरुत्साहं निर्विकारं निरञ्जनम्
Unattached, formless, untouched, without support, without qualities, without desire, unchanging, and pure.
स्वेच्छामयं च साकारं भक्तानुग्रहकारकम् । सत्त्वस्वरूपं सत्येशं साक्षिरूपं सनातनम्
Of his own will, with form, bestowing grace upon devotees, the embodiment of existence, Lord of truth, the eternal witness.
परं परेशं परमं परमात्मानमीश्वरम् । प्रणम्य तुष्टुवुः सर्वे भक्तिनम्रात्मकन्धराः
The supreme, the Lord of lords, the highest, the supreme Self, the ruler; all bowed and praised him, their heads bent in devotion.
सगद्गदाः साश्रुनेत्राः पुलकाङ्कितविग्रहाः । सर्वे संस्तूय सर्वेशं भगवन्तं परात्परम्
With choked voices, tear-filled eyes, and bodies thrilled with joy, all praised the Lord of all, the Supreme among the supreme.
ज्योतिर्मयं परं ब्रह्म सर्वकारणकारणम् । अमूल्यरत्ननिर्माणचित्रसिंहासनस्थितम्
The supreme Brahman, made of light, the cause of all causes, seated on a wondrous throne crafted from priceless jewels.
सेव्यमानं च गोपालैः श्वेतचामरवायुना । गोपालिकानृत्यगीतं पश्यन्तं सस्मितं मुदा
Served by cowherds, fanned by white cāmaras, beholding with delight the dance and song of the cowherd maidens, smiling with joy.
प्राणाधिकप्रियतमं राधावक्षःस्थलस्थितम् । तया प्रदत्तं ताम्बूलं भुक्तवन्तं सुवासितम्
Most beloved, dearer than life, seated upon Rādhā’s breast, having enjoyed the fragrant betel offered by her.
परिपूर्णतमं रासे ददृशुश्च सुरेश्वरम् । मुनयो मनवः सिद्धास्तापसाश्च तपस्विनः
The sages, Manus, Siddhas, ascetics, and great tapasvins beheld the Lord of the gods, utterly complete, in the Rāsa dance.
प्रहृष्टमनसः सर्वे जग्मुः परमविस्मयम् । परस्परं समालोक्य प्रोचुस्ते च चतुर्मुखम्
All, their minds filled with joy, were struck with supreme wonder; looking at one another, they spoke to the four-faced one.
निवेदितं जगन्नाथं स्वाभिप्रायमभीप्सितम् । ब्रह्मा तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा विष्णुं कृत्वा स्वदक्षिणे
They expressed to the Lord of the universe their own wishes and desires; Brahmā, hearing their words, placed Viṣṇu at his right.
वामतो वामदेवं च जगाम कृष्णसन्निधिम् । परमानन्दयुक्तं च परमानन्दरूपिणीम्
And Vāmadeva at his left, he approached Kṛṣṇa’s presence, filled with supreme bliss, before her who is the embodiment of supreme bliss.
सर्वं कृष्णमयं धाता ददर्श रासमण्डले । सर्वं समानवेषं च समानासनसंस्थितम्
The Creator beheld everything in the Rāsa circle as pervaded by Kṛṣṇa, all with the same form, all seated on equal thrones.
द्विभुजं मुरलीहस्तं वनमालाविभूषितम् । मयूरपिच्छचूडं च कौस्तुभेन विराजितम्
Two-armed, holding a flute, adorned with a garland of forest flowers, crowned with peacock feathers, shining with the Kaustubha gem.
अतीव कमनीयं च सुन्दरं शान्तविग्रहम् । गुणभूषणरूपेण तेजसा वयसा त्विषा
It was exceedingly lovely and beautiful, with a tranquil form, adorned by virtues, radiant with splendor, youth, and brilliance.
परिपूर्णतमं सर्वं सर्वैश्वर्यसमन्वितम् । किं सेव्यं सेवकं किं वा दृष्ट्वा निर्वक्तुमक्षमः
It was utterly complete in every way, endowed with all sovereignty; seeing it, one could not discern what was to be served or who was the servant, and was unable to describe it.
क्षणं तेजः स्वरूपं च रूपं तत्र स्थितं क्षणम् । निराकारं च साकारं ददर्श द्विविधं क्षणम्
For a moment, he beheld that form of radiance, and for a moment, that form remained; for a moment, he saw both the formless and the formed, in twofold manner.
एकमेव क्षणं कृष्णं राधया रहितं परम् । प्रत्येकासनसंस्थं च तया सार्धं च तत्क्षणम्
For a single moment, he saw Krishna alone, without Radha, seated separately; and in the next moment, together with her.
राधारूपधरं कृष्णं कृष्णरूपं कलत्रकम् । किं स्त्रीरूपं च पुरुषं विधाता ध्यातुमक्षमः
He saw Krishna taking the form of Radha, and Radha as Krishna's consort; whether it was a feminine or masculine form, the creator was unable to contemplate.
हृत्पद्मस्थं च श्रीकृष्णं ध्यात्वा ध्यानेन चक्षुषा । चकार स्तवनं भक्त्या परिहारमनेकधा
Meditating with the eye of contemplation upon Shri Krishna, who dwells in the lotus of the heart, he offered praises with devotion and repeatedly sought forgiveness.
ततः स्वचक्षुरुन्मील्य पुनश्च तदनुज्ञया । ददर्श कृष्णमेकं च राधावक्षःस्थलस्थितम्
Then, opening his own eyes and with their permission, he saw Krishna alone, resting upon Radha's chest.
स्वपार्षदैः परिवृतं गोपीमण्डलमण्डितम् । पुनः प्रणेमुस्तं दृष्ट्वा तुष्टुवुः परमेश्वरम्
Surrounded by his own attendants and adorned by the circle of gopis, seeing him again, they bowed and praised the Supreme Lord.
तदभिप्रायमाज्ञाय तानुवाच रमेश्वरः । सर्वात्मा स च सर्वज्ञः सर्वेशः सर्वभावनः
Understanding their intention, Rameshvara, the Lord of all, the knower of all, the soul of all, addressed them.
श्रीभगवानुवाच आगच्छ कुशलं ब्रह्मन्नागच्छ कमलापते । इहागच्छ महादेव शश्वत्कुशलमस्तु वः
The Blessed Lord said: Come, O Brahman, come, O Lotus-born; come here, O Mahadeva—may there always be well-being for you.
आगता हि महाभागा गङ्गानयनकारणात् । गङ्गा च चरणाम्भोजे भयेन शरणं गता
You have come, O greatly fortunate ones, for the purpose of bringing Ganga; and Ganga, out of fear, has taken refuge at the lotus feet.
राधेमां पातुमिच्छन्ती दृष्ट्वा मत्सन्निधानतः । दास्यामीमां च भवतां यूयं कुरुत निर्भयाम्
Desiring to protect her, Radha, seeing her in my presence, wishes to make her your servant—so you all make her fearless.
श्रीकृष्णस्य वचः श्रुत्वा सस्मितः कमलोद्भवः । तुष्टाव राधामाराध्यां श्रीकृष्णपरिपूजिताम्
Hearing the words of Shri Krishna, the Lotus-born, smiling, praised Radha, the worshipful one, honored by Shri Krishna.
वक्त्रैश्चतुर्भिः संस्तूय भक्तिनम्रात्मकन्धरः । धाता चतुर्णां वेदानामुवाच चतुराननः
With four mouths he praised her, bowing his head in devotion; the creator of the four Vedas, the four-faced one, spoke.
चतुरानन उवाच गङ्गा त्वदङ्गसम्भूता प्रभोश्च रासमण्डले । युवयोर्द्रवरूपा सा मुग्धयोः शङ्करस्वनात्
The Four-faced One said: Ganga, born from your body and in the circle of the Lord's rasa, is the liquid form of you both, enchanted by the sound of Shiva's drum.
कृष्णांशा च त्वदंशा च त्वत्कन्यासदृशी प्रिया । त्वन्मन्त्रग्रहणं कृत्वा करोतु तव पूजनम्
She is a portion of Krishna and of you, dear one, resembling your daughter; having received your mantra, let her perform your worship.
