तस्मै ददामि सालोक्यं यावद्वै ब्रह्मणो वयः
To him I grant residence in my world for as long as the age of Brahma lasts.
तस्मै ददामि सारूप्यमसंख्यं प्राकृतं लयम्
To him I grant resemblance in form and countless dissolutions into the elements.
सद्यः प्रयाति गोलोकं मम तुल्यो भवेद् धुवम्
He immediately attains Goloka and becomes equal to me, eternally.
मन्मंत्रोपासकानां तु नित्यं नैवेद्यभोजिनाम्
But those who worship me with my mantra and always partake of the food offered to me,
रत्नेंद्रसार यानेन गोलोकं संप्रयांति च
They journey to Goloka in a chariot adorned with the finest jewels.
प्रयांति रत्नयानेन गोलोकं चातिदुर्लभम्
They go by a jeweled chariot to Goloka, which is extremely difficult to attain.
जीवन्मुक्ताश्च ते पूता मद्भक्ते संविधानतः
They are liberated while living, purified, and established as my devotees.
स्तुहि गंगामिमां भक्त्या पूजां च कुरु सांप्रतम्
Now praise this Ganga with devotion and perform her worship at this very moment.
कौथुमोक्तेन ध्यानेन स्तोत्रेणापि पुनः पुनः
With the meditation and hymn prescribed by Kauthuma, again and again.
भगीरथश्च गंगा च सोंऽतर्धानं चकार ह केन ध्यानेन स्तोत्रेण केन पूजाक्रमेण च ।। 9.11.
Bhagiratha and Ganga both became invisible—by what meditation, by what hymn, and by what method of worship?
पूजां चकार नृपतिर्वद वेदविदां वर स्नात्वा नित्यक्रियां कृत्वा धृत्वा धौते च वाससी
Tell me, O best of those who know the Vedas, how the king performed the worship, having bathed, completed his daily rites, and donned clean garments.
संपूज्य देवषट्कं च संयतो भक्तिपूर्वकम्
Having worshipped the six deities with self-control and with devotion,
संपूज्य देवषट्कं च सोऽधिकारी च पूजने
Having worshipped the six deities, he became qualified for the act of worship.
वह्निं शौचाय विष्णुं च लक्ष्म्यर्थं पूजयेन्नरः
A man should worship fire for purity and Vishnu for the sake of Lakshmi.
संपूज्यैताँल्लभेत्प्राज्ञो विपरीतमतोऽन्यथा
The wise person, by worshipping these, attains the desired result; otherwise, the opposite occurs.
गङ्गोपाख्यानवर्णनम् श्रीनारायण उवाच श्वेतपंकजवर्णाभां गंगां पापप्रणाशिनीम्
Description of the story of the Ganga. Sri Narayana said: I praise Ganga, whose radiance is like a white lotus, who destroys sins.
कृष्णविग्रहसम्भूतां कृष्णतुल्यां परां सतीम्
She who arose from the form of Krishna, who is equal to Krishna, the supreme and virtuous one.
शरत्पूर्णेंदुशतकमृष्टशोभाकरां पराम्
She who shines with the brilliance of a hundred autumn full moons, supreme in splendor.
नारायणप्रियां शांतां तत्सौभाग्यसमन्विताम्
Beloved of Narayana, peaceful, endowed with his good fortune.
सिंदूरबिंदुललितं सार्धं चन्दनबिंदुभिः
Adorned with vermilion marks, together with dots of sandalwood paste.
पक्वबिंबविनिंद्याच्छ चार्वोष्ठपुटमुत्तमम्
Her lips are as red as ripe bimba fruit, surpassingly beautiful.
सुचारुवक्त्रनयनं सकटाक्षं मनोहरम्
Her face and eyes are exceedingly lovely, with sidelong glances, enchanting.
बृहच्छ्रोणिं सुकठिनां रंभास्तंभविनिंदिताम्
Her hips are broad and firm, rivaling the stems of plantains.
रत्नपादुक संयुक्तं कुंकुमाक्तं सयावकम्
She is adorned with jeweled sandals, anointed with saffron and red lac.
सुरसिद्धमुनींद्रैश्च दत्तार्घसंयुतं सदा 9.12.
She is always offered arghya by the gods, siddhas, and great sages.
मुक्तिप्रदं मुमुक्षूणां कामिनां सर्वभोगदम्
She grants liberation to those who seek it, and all enjoyments to those who desire them.
श्रीविष्णोः पददात्रीं च भजे विष्णुपदीं सतीम्
I worship the virtuous one who bestowed the feet of Vishnu, the beloved of Vishnu.
दत्त्वा संपूजयेद्ब्रह्मन्नुपचाराणि षोडश
Having offered, O Brahman, one should worship her with sixteen services.
धूपदीपं च नैवेद्यं तांबूलं शीतलं जलम्
Incense, lamp, food offering, betel, and cool water.
मनोहरं सुतल्पं च देयान्येतानि षोडश
And a delightful, soft bed—these sixteen should be given.
