यस्याश्चांशांशकलया बभूवुः सर्वयोषितः । सर्वे विश्वस्थिता लोका मोहिताः स्युश्च मायया
By a mere fraction of her power, all women came into being; all the worlds existing in the universe are deluded by her Māyā.
सर्वैश्वर्यप्रदात्री च कामिनां गृहवासिनाम् । कृष्णभक्तिप्रदा या च वैष्णवानां च वैष्णवी
She is the bestower of all prosperity to householders who desire, the giver of devotion to Kṛṣṇa, and the Vaiṣṇavī among the Vaiṣṇavas.
मुमुक्षूणां मोक्षदात्री सुखिनां सुखदायिनी । स्वर्गेषु स्वर्गलक्ष्मीश्च गृहलक्ष्यीर्गृहेषु च
She grants liberation to those who seek it, happiness to the happy, is the goddess of fortune in the heavens, and the household prosperity in homes.
तपस्विषु तपस्या च श्रीरूपा तु नृपेषु च । या वह्नौ दाहिकारूपा प्रभारूपा च भास्करे
Among ascetics she is austerity, among kings she is splendor; in fire she is the power to burn, and in the sun she is radiance.
शोभारूपा च चन्द्रे च सा पद्मेषु च शोभना । सर्वशक्तिस्वरूपा या श्रीकृष्णे परमात्मनि
She is beauty in the moon, auspiciousness in lotuses, the embodiment of all powers in Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Supreme Self.
यया च शक्तिमानात्मा यया च शक्तिमज्जगत् । यया विना जगत्सर्वं जीवन्मृतमिव स्थितम्
By her the Self is empowered, by her the world is empowered; without her, the entire world exists as if alive yet dead.
या च संसारवृक्षस्य बीजरूपा सनातनी । स्थितिरूपा वृद्धिरूपा फलरूपा च नारद
She is the eternal seed of the tree of worldly existence, its form of stability, growth, and fruit, O Nārada.
क्षुत्पिपासादयारूपा निद्रा तन्द्रा क्षमा मतिः । शान्तिलज्जातुष्टिपुष्टिभ्रान्तिकान्त्यादिरूपिणी
She takes the forms of hunger, thirst, sleep, drowsiness, forgiveness, intelligence, peace, modesty, satisfaction, nourishment, delusion, and beauty.
सा च संस्तूय सर्वेशं तत्पुरः समुवास ह । रत्नसिंहासनं तस्यै प्रददौ राधिकेश्वरः
Having been praised, she remained before the Lord of all; Rādhikeśvara gave her a jeweled lion-throne.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र सस्त्रीकश्च चतुर्मुखः । पद्मनाभेर्नाभिपद्मान्निःससार महामुने
At that moment, O great sage, the four-faced one, accompanied by his consort, emerged from the lotus growing from the navel of Padmanābha.
कमण्डलुधरः श्रीमांस्तपस्वी ज्ञानिनां वरः । चतुर्मुखैस्तं तुष्टाव प्रज्वलन्ब्रह्मतेजसा
Bearing a water pot, radiant with fortune, an ascetic, the foremost among the wise—he was praised by the Four-Faced One, blazing with the brilliance of Brahman.
सा तदा सुन्दरी सृष्टा शतचन्द्रसमप्रभा । वह्निशुद्धांशुकाधाना रत्नभूषणभूषणा
Then she was created as a beautiful woman, shining like a hundred moons, clad in garments purified by fire, adorned with jeweled ornaments.
रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये संस्तूय सर्वकारणम् । उवास स्वामिना सार्धं कृष्णस्य पुरतो मुदा
Seated upon a splendid jeweled throne, praised as the cause of all, she dwelled joyfully with her Lord before Krishna.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे कृष्णो द्विधारूपो बभूव सः । वामार्धाङ्गो महादेवो दक्षिणे गोपिकापतिः
At that moment, Krishna appeared in two forms: on the left side as Mahadeva, and on the right as the Lord of the Gopis.
शुद्धस्फटिकसंकाशः शतकोटिरविप्रभः । त्रिशूलपट्टिशधरो व्याघ्रचर्माम्बरो हरः
Resembling pure crystal, shining with the radiance of a hundred million suns, Hara bore a trident and spear, and was clothed in a tiger skin.
तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णाभो जटाभारधरः परः । भस्मभूषितगात्रश्च सस्मितश्चन्द्रशेखरः
Of the hue of molten gold, bearing matted locks, his body adorned with ashes, smiling, and crowned with the moon.
दिगम्बरो नीलकण्ठः सर्पभूषणभूषितः । बिभ्रद्दक्षिणहस्तेन रत्नमालां सुसंस्कृताम्
Naked in the directions, blue-throated, adorned with serpents, he held in his right hand a well-crafted garland of jewels.
प्रजपन्पञ्चवक्त्रेण ब्रह्मज्योतिः सनातनम् । सत्यस्वरूपं श्रीकृष्णं परमात्मानमीश्वरम्
Reciting with his five mouths the eternal light of Brahman, the true form, Shri Krishna, the supreme self, the Lord.
कारणं कारणानां च सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गलम् । जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिशोकभीतिहरं परम्
The cause of causes, the most auspicious among all that is auspicious, the supreme remover of birth, death, old age, disease, sorrow, and fear.
संस्तूय मृत्योर्मृत्युं तं यतो मृत्युञ्जयाभिधः । रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये समुवास हरेः पुरः
Having praised the Death of death, who is thus called Mrityunjaya, he sat upon the splendid jeweled throne before Hari.
ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेश्वरादिदेवतोत्पत्तिवर्णनम् श्रीनारायण उवाच अथ डिम्भो जले तिष्ठन्यावद्वै ब्रह्मणो वयः । ततः स काले सहसा द्विधाभूतो बभूव ह
Description of the origin of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshvara, and other deities. Shri Narayana said: Then, as the egg remained in the waters for the age of Brahma, suddenly, in due time, it split into two.
तन्मध्ये शिशुरेकश्च शतकोटिरविप्रभः। क्षणं रोरूयमाणश्च स्तनान्धः पीडितः क्षुधा
In its midst was an infant, shining with the brilliance of a hundred million suns, crying for a moment, pressed by hunger for the breast.
पित्रा मात्रा परित्यक्तो जलमध्ये निराश्रयः। ब्रह्माण्डासंख्यनाथो यो ददर्शोर्ध्वमनाथवत्
Abandoned by father and mother, shelterless in the midst of the waters, the lord of countless universes gazed upward, as if orphaned.
स्थूलास्थूलतमः सोऽपि नाम्ना देवो महाविराट्। परमा्णुर्यथा सूक्ष्मात्परः स्थूलात्तथाप्यसौ
He, called the Great Cosmic Being, is both gross and most subtle; just as the atom is subtler than the subtle, so is he beyond the gross.
तेजसा षोडशांशोऽयं कृष्णस्य परमात्मनः। आधारः सर्वविश्वानां महाविष्णुश्च प्राकृतः
By his radiance, he is one-sixteenth portion of Krishna, the supreme self; he is the foundation of all worlds, and is called the primordial Mahavishnu.
प्रत्येकं लोमकूपेषु विश्वानि निखिलानि च। अस्यापि तेषां संख्यां च कृष्णो वक्तुं नहि क्षमः
In each of his hair follicles exist all the universes; even Krishna is not able to state their number.
संख्या चेद्रजसामस्ति विश्वानां न कदाचन। ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादीनां तथा संख्या न विद्यते
If there is a number for the grains of dust, never is there a number for the universes; likewise, the number of Brahmas, Vishnus, and Shivas is not known.
प्रतिविश्वेषु सन्त्येवं ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादयः। पातालाद् ब्रह्मलोकान्तं ब्रह्माण्डं परिकीर्तितम्
In each universe, there are Brahmas, Vishnus, and Shivas in this way; from the netherworld up to Brahmaloka, the cosmic egg is described.
तत ऊर्ध्वं च वैकुण्ठो ब्रह्माण्डाद् बहिरेव सः। तत ऊर्ध्वं च गोलोकः पञ्चाशत्कोटियोजनः
Above that is Vaikuntha, situated outside the cosmic egg; and above that is Goloka, fifty crore yojanas higher.
नित्यः सत्यस्वरूपश्च यथा कृष्णस्तथाप्ययम्। सप्तद्वीपमिता पृध्वी सप्तसागरसंयुता
It is eternal and of the nature of truth, just as Krishna is; the earth is measured as seven continents, accompanied by seven oceans.
