यत्पादपद्मसंस्पर्शात्सद्यः पूता वसुन्धरा । यत्स्पर्शदर्शने चैवेच्छन्ति तीर्थानि शुद्धये
By the touch of her lotus feet, the earth is instantly purified; holy places desire her touch and sight for their own purification.
यया विना च विश्वेषु सर्वकर्म च निष्फलम् । मोक्षदा या मुमुक्षूणां कामिनी सर्वकामदा
Without her, all actions in the worlds are fruitless; she grants liberation to those who seek it and fulfills all desires.
कल्पवृक्षस्वरूपा या भारते वृक्षरूपिणी । भारतीनां प्रीणनाय जाता या परदेवता
She is the wish-fulfilling tree in form, appearing as a tree in Bharata; she was born to delight the people of Bharata, the supreme goddess.
प्रधानांशस्वरूपा या मनसा कश्यपात्मजा । शङ्करप्रियशिष्या च महाज्ञानविशारदा
The one whose essential form is the principal portion, born from the mind as the daughter of Kashyapa, is the beloved disciple of Shankara and expert in great knowledge.
नागेश्वरस्यानन्तस्य भगिनी नागपूजिता । नागेश्वरी नागमाता सुन्दरी नागवाहिनी
She is the sister of Ananta, lord of the Nagas, worshipped by serpents; she is the queen of Nagas, mother of Nagas, beautiful, and rides upon serpents.
नागेन्द्रगणसंयुक्ता नागभूषणभूषिता । नागेन्द्रवन्दिता सिद्धा योगिनी नगशायिनी
Surrounded by hosts of serpent lords, adorned with serpent ornaments, worshipped by serpent kings, accomplished, a yogini, and resting upon a serpent.
विष्णुरूपा विष्णुभक्ता विष्णुपूजापरायणा । तपःस्वरूपा तपसां फलदात्री तपस्विनी
She is of the form of Vishnu, devoted to Vishnu, intent on worshipping Vishnu; she is the embodiment of austerity, bestower of the fruits of austerity, and herself an ascetic.
दिव्यं त्रिलक्षवर्षं च तपस्तप्त्वा च या हरेः । तपस्विनीषु पूज्या च तपस्विषु च भारते
Having performed divine austerity for three hundred thousand years for Hari, she is honored among ascetic women and among ascetics in Bharata.
सर्वमन्त्राधिदेवी च ज्वलन्ती ब्रह्मतेजसा । ब्रह्मस्वरूपा परमा ब्रह्मभावनतत्परा
She is the presiding goddess over all mantras, blazing with the radiance of Brahman, supreme in essence, and devoted to the contemplation of Brahman.
जरत्कारुमुनेः पत्नी कृष्णांशस्य पतिव्रता । आस्तीकस्य मुनेर्माता प्रवरस्य तपस्विनाम्
She is the wife of the sage Jaratkaru, devoted to her husband who is a portion of Krishna, and the mother of the sage Astika, foremost among ascetics.
प्रधानांशस्वरूपा या देवसेना च नारद । मातृकासु पूज्यतमा सा षष्ठी च प्रकीर्तिता
O Narada, she who is the very form of the principal portion, is also known as Devasena; among the Mothers she is the most worthy of worship, and is called Shashthi.

प्रकृतेर्मुखसम्भूता सर्वमङ्गलदा सदा । सृष्टौ मङ्गलरूपा च संहारे कोपरूपिणी
Born from the face of Prakriti, she always bestows all auspiciousness; in creation she is the form of good fortune, in dissolution she is the form of wrath.
तेन मङ्गलचण्डी सा पण्डितैः परिकीर्तिता । प्रतिमङ्गलवारेषु प्रतिविश्वेषु पूजिता
Therefore, the learned call her Mangala Chandika; she is worshipped on every auspicious day and in every world.
पुत्रपौत्रधनैश्वर्ययशोमङ्गलदायिनी । परितुष्टा सर्ववाञ्छाप्रदात्री सर्वयोषिताम्
She grants sons, grandsons, wealth, prosperity, fame, and good fortune; when pleased, she fulfills all desires of all women.
रुष्टा क्षणेन संहर्तुं शक्ता विश्वं महेश्वरी । प्रधानांशस्वरूपा सा काली कमललोचना
If angered, the great goddess is able to destroy the universe in a moment; she, the principal portion, is Kali, with lotus-like eyes.
दुर्गाललाटसम्भूता रणे शुम्भनिशुम्भयोः । दुर्गार्धांशस्वरूपा सा गुणेन तेजसा समा
Born from the forehead of Durga in battle with Shumbha and Nishumbha, she is the half-portion of Durga, equal in virtue and power.
कोटिसूर्यसमाजुष्टपुष्टजाज्वलविग्रहा । प्रधाना सर्वशक्तीनां बला बलवती परा
Her form blazes with the radiance of ten million suns; she is the foremost of all powers, supremely strong among the strong.
सर्वसिद्धिप्रदा देवी परमा योगरूपिणी । कृष्णभक्ता कृष्णतुल्या तेजसा विक्रमैर्गुणैः
The goddess bestows all accomplishments, supreme in the form of yoga; devoted to Krishna, she is equal to Krishna in brilliance, valor, and virtues.
कृष्णभावनया शश्वत्कृष्णवर्णा सनातनी । संहर्तुं सर्वब्रह्माण्डं शक्ता निःश्वासमात्रतः
By constant contemplation of Krishna, she is eternally dark-hued; she is able to destroy the entire universe with a single breath.
रणं दैत्यैः समं तस्याः क्रीडया लोकशिक्षया । धर्मार्थकाममोक्षांश्च दातुं शक्ता च पूजिता
Her battle with the demons is but sport for her, a lesson for the worlds; when worshipped, she is able to grant dharma, wealth, pleasure, and liberation.
ब्रह्मादिभिः स्तूयमाना मुनिभिर्मनुभिर्नरैः । प्रधानांशस्वरूपा सा प्रकृतेश्च वसुन्धरा
Praised by Brahma and others, by sages, Manus, and men, she is the principal portion and the very earth of Prakriti.
आधाररूपा सर्वेषां सर्वसस्या प्रकीर्तिता । रत्नाकरा रत्नगर्भा सर्वरत्नाकराश्रया
She is proclaimed as the foundation of all, the source of all crops; the ocean of jewels, the womb of gems, and the abode of all precious stones.
प्रजाभिश्च प्रजेशैश्च पूजिता वन्दिता सदा । सर्वोपजीव्यरूपा च सर्वसम्पद्विधायिनी
Ever worshipped and honored by all beings and their rulers, she is the sustainer of all, the bestower of every wealth.
यया विना जगत्सर्वं निराधारं चराचरम् । प्रकृतेश्च कला या यास्ता निबोध मुनीश्वर
Without her, the entire universe, both moving and unmoving, is without support; she is the power of Nature—listen, O great sage, to these aspects.
यस्य यस्य च या पत्नी तत्सर्वं वर्णयामि ते । स्वाहादेवी वह्निपत्नी प्रतिविश्वेषु पूजिता
Of every being, whatever wife there is, I shall describe them all to you: Svāhā is the wife of Agni, worshipped in every world.
