वाणिज्यरूपा वणिजां पापिनां कलहाङ्कुरा । दयारूपा च कथिता वेदोक्ता सर्वसम्मता
She is the form of commerce among merchants, the root of quarrels among the wicked, and is said to be compassion, as declared in the Vedas and accepted by all.
सर्वपूज्या सर्ववन्द्या चान्यां मत्तो निशामय । वाग्बुद्धिविद्याज्ञानाधिष्ठात्री च परमात्मनः
Worthy of worship and veneration by all, now hear from me of another: she who presides over speech, intellect, knowledge, and wisdom for the Supreme Self.
सर्वविद्यास्वरूपा या सा च देवी सरस्वती । सा बुद्धिः कविता मेधा प्रतिभा स्मृतिदा नृणाम्
She who is the embodiment of all knowledge, that Goddess Sarasvati, is intellect, poetry, intelligence, inspiration, and the giver of memory to people.
नानाप्रकारसिद्धान्तभेदार्थकलना मता । व्याख्याबोधस्वरूपा च सर्वसन्देहभञ्जिनी
She is considered the power of discerning the various kinds of doctrines and their differences, the essence of explanation and understanding, and the destroyer of all doubts.
विचारकारिणी ग्रन्थकारिणी शक्तिरूपिणी । स्वरसङ्गीतसन्धानतालकारणरूपिणी
She is the cause of inquiry, the creator of texts, the embodiment of power, and the form of melody, music, composition, and rhythm.
विषयज्ञानवाग्रूपा प्रतिविश्वोपजीविनी । व्याख्यावादकरी शान्ता वीणापुस्तकधारिणी
She is the form of knowledge, speech, and understanding of objects, sustaining the entire world; she brings forth explanation and discourse, is serene, and holds the vina and book.
शुद्धसत्त्वस्वरूपा च सुशीला श्रीहरिप्रिया । हिमचन्दनकुन्देन्दुकुमुदाम्भोजसन्निभा
She is of pure sattva nature, of good character, dear to Shri Hari, and resembles snow, sandalwood, jasmine, the moon, the water-lily, and the lotus.
यजन्ती परमात्मानं श्रीकृष्णं रत्नमालया । तपःस्वरूपा तपसां फलदात्री तपस्विनाम्

She shines like pure crystal, embodying pure existence; she is the form of supreme bliss, the highest and eternal one.
परब्रह्मस्वरूपा च निर्वाणपददायिनी । ब्रह्मतेजोमयी शक्तिस्तदधिष्ठातृदेवता
She is the very essence of the Supreme Brahman, the giver of the state of liberation; she is the power composed of Brahman’s radiance, the presiding deity over that energy.
यत्पादरजसा पूतं जगत्सर्वं च नारद । देवी चतुर्थी कथिता पञ्चमीं वर्णयामि ते
O Narada, the entire world is purified by the dust of her feet; this is the fourth form of the Goddess described—now I will tell you of the fifth.
पञ्चप्राणाधिदेवी या पञ्चप्राणस्वरूपिणी । प्राणाधिकप्रियतमा सर्वाभ्यः सुन्दरी परा

रासक्रीडाधिदेवी श्रीकृष्णस्य परमात्मनः । रासमण्डलसम्भूता रासमण्डलमण्डिता
She is the presiding deity of the rasa dance, of Sri Krishna, the Supreme Soul; born in the circle of the rasa, adorned by the circle of the rasa.
रासेश्वरी सुरसिका रासावासनिवासिनी । गोलोकवासिनी देवी गोपीवेषविधायिका
She is the sovereign of the rasa, delighting in divine play, dwelling in the abode of the rasa; the Goddess who resides in Goloka, the giver of the gopi form.
परमाह्लादरूपा च सन्तोषहर्षरूपिणी । निर्गुणा च निराकारा निर्लिप्ताऽऽत्मस्वरूपिणी
She is the embodiment of supreme joy, the form of satisfaction and delight; she is without qualities, without form, untouched, and of the nature of the Self.
निरीहा निरहङ्कारा भक्तानुग्रहविग्रहा । वेदानुसारिध्यानेन विज्ञाता मा विचक्षणैः
She is without desire, without ego, the embodiment of grace toward devotees; known only through meditation in accordance with the Vedas, not by the clever.
दृष्टिदृष्टा न सा चेशैः सुरेन्द्रैर्मुनिपुङ्गवैः । वह्निशुद्धांशुकधरा नानालङ्कारभूषिता
She is seen by vision, not by the senses, nor by the lords of gods or the foremost sages; she wears garments purified by fire, adorned with various ornaments.
कोटिचन्द्रप्रभा पुष्टसर्वश्रीयुक्तविग्रहा । श्रीकृष्णभक्तिदास्यैककरा च सर्वसम्पदाम्
Her form is endowed with the radiance of ten million moons and all prosperity; she holds in her hand the exclusive service of devotion to Sri Krishna, and all treasures.
अवतारे च वाराहे वृषभानुसुता च या । यत्पादपद्मसंस्पर्शात्पवित्रा च वसुन्धरा
In her Varaha incarnation, she is the daughter of Vrishabhanu; by the touch of her lotus feet, the earth itself becomes pure.
ब्रह्मादिभिरदृष्टा या सर्वैर्दृष्टा च भारते । स्त्रीरत्नसारसम्भूता कृष्णवक्षःस्थले स्थिता
She is unseen by Brahma and others, yet seen by all in Bharata; born from the essence of the jewels among women, she dwells on Krishna’s chest.
यथाम्बरे नवघने लोला सौदामनी मुने । षष्टिवर्षसहस्राणि प्रतप्तं ब्रह्मणा पुरा
O sage, just as a lightning flash moves playfully among new clouds in the sky, so for sixty thousand years Brahma performed austerities in ancient times.
यत्पादपद्मनखरदृष्टये चात्मशुद्धये । न च दृष्टं च स्वप्नेऽपि प्रत्यक्षस्यापि का कथा
Even for the sake of seeing the nails of her lotus feet for self-purification, he did not see her, not even in a dream—what then of direct vision?
तेनैव तपसा दृष्टा भुवि वृन्दावने वने । कथिता पञ्चमी देवी सा राधा च प्रकीर्तिता
By that very austerity, she was seen on earth, in the forest of Vrindavana; this fifth form of the Goddess is thus described, and she is renowned as Radha.
