They themselves, like their ancestors, are devoted to the worship of the Blessed Lord; the people of those regions worship the Supreme Lord in the form of Brahma.
With actions and yoga, they worship, having been instructed; whatever is the form of action, let the people worship the Brahma-form, which is singular, non-dual, peaceful—salutations to that Blessed Lord.
Description of the sun's movement. Nārāyaṇa said: Beyond that is the immovable mountain called Lokāloka; and between Lokāloka and the worlds, that which is established.
As far as there is space, O sage, between Mānasa-Uttara and Sumeru, there exists a pure, golden land.
That land is like the interior of a mirror, devoid of all living beings; whatever object is sent there, nothing returns.
Therefore, O Nārada, since it is devoid of all groups of living beings, it is explained as Lokāloka, as established here.
In the space between Lokāloka, its existence always remains; by the Lord, it was made the boundary of the three worlds.
The rays of the sun and others up to Dhruva, according to their influence, sometimes extend to the three worlds below.
But those that are directed outward do not reach, O Nārada; so great is the height of the chief mountain, Mahodaya.
Thus is the arrangement of the worlds, with their boundaries and characteristics; the poets have calculated it as fifty crore.
Lokāloka mountain, O sage, is a quarter of the earth-globe; above it, in the four directions, Brahma, the self-born, has placed—
The guardian elephants of the directions; listen to their names: Ṛṣabha, Puṣpacūḍa, Vāmana, and Aparājita.
These have been described as the causes for the existence of all the worlds; and the increase of their own powers is by their manifold energies.
The Blessed Hari, endowed with pure sattva and sovereignty, abides with the eight siddhis, surrounded by Vishvaksena and others.
The Supreme Lord sits, encircled on all sides by His own weapons and mighty arms, for the welfare of all the worlds.
Thus, until the end of the kalpa, the eternal Vishnu assumes this form, fulfilling His own purpose through the cowherd's abode fashioned by His own maya.
By this, the inner expanse, which measures the world, has been explained—what is called the outer Lokāloka mountain, as its boundary.
Beyond that, the pure path of the yogis is said to exist; the sun, situated in the middle of the cosmic egg, is the space between heaven and earth.
Between the sun and the cosmic egg, there are twenty-five crores; when the egg perishes, in this, the one called Martanda is born.
He is called Hiranyagarbha because he arises from the golden egg; by the sun, the directions, the sky, heaven, and earth are divided.
Heaven, liberation, hells, and all the regions of the waters, as well as the gods, animals, humans, reptiles, and plants—
For all living beings, the sun is the self, the lord of sight; thus is described the arrangement of the earth's sphere.
By this, those who know describe the measure of the sky, just as with the two halves of split pulses and other seeds.
Between those two is the atmosphere, joined at both ends; and in the middle, the Blessed Sun, best among the shining ones, abides.
With his heat, he illuminates and scorches the three worlds; upon reaching the northern course, he brings about slowness of movement.
Having reached the ascending station, he increases the length of the day; upon reaching the southern course, he brings about swiftness of movement.
Going to the descending station, he makes the day shorter; upon reaching the equinoctial point, he brings about equality of movement.
Upon reaching the equal station, he causes equality of days; and when the sun moves through Aries and Libra—
Then, day and night are made equal, composed of the three Vedas; when the sun shines in the five signs beginning with Taurus—
Then, the days increase and the nights become shorter; when the sun moves through the signs beginning with Scorpio—
