नानासिद्धैः परिवृतं योगींद्रगणसेवितम्
Surrounded by various accomplished beings, served by groups of great yogis—
गंधर्वाणां च संगीतं श्रुतवंतं कुतूहलात्
Out of curiosity, he heard the singing of the Gandharvas—
जपंतं पञ्चवक्त्रेण हरेर्नामैकमङ्गलम्
Reciting, with his five mouths, the single auspicious name of Hari—
एतस्मिन्नंतरे ब्रह्मा तस्थावग्रे स धूर्जटेः
Meanwhile, Brahma stood before Dhurjati (Shiva).
उत्तस्थौ शंकरः शीघ्रं भक्त्या दृष्ट्वा जगद्गुरुम्
Shankara quickly rose, seeing the teacher of the world with devotion.
प्रणेमुर्देवताः सर्वे शंकरं चंद्रशेखरम्
All the deities bowed to Shankara, the moon-crested one.
वृत्तांतं कथयामास पार्वतीशं प्रजापतिः
The lord of creatures narrated the events to Parvati’s lord.
भक्तापायं समाकर्ण्य पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ
Hearing of the loss of devotion, Parvati and the supreme lord—
ततो ब्रह्मा महेशश्च सुरसंघान्वसुंधराम्
Then Brahma and Mahesha, along with the hosts of gods and the earth—
ततो देवेश्वरैस्तूर्णमागत्य धर्ममंदिरम्
Then, with the lords of the gods, they swiftly arrived at the temple of Dharma.
वैकुंठं परमं धाम जरामृत्युहरं परम् कोटियोजनमूर्ध्वं च ब्रह्मलोकात्सनातनम्
Vaikuntha, the supreme abode, which removes old age and death, supreme, ten million yojanas above, eternal beyond Brahma’s world—
वर्णनीयं न कविभिर्विचित्रं रत्ननिर्मितम्
It cannot be described by poets, wondrous, made of gems—
ते मनोयायिनः सर्वे संप्रापुस्तं मनोहरम्
All of them, traveling by mind, reached that enchanting place.
रत्नसिंहासनस्थं च रत्नालंकारभूषितम्
Seated upon a throne of gems, adorned with jewel ornaments—
रत्नकुण्डलयुग्मेन गंडस्थलविराजितम्
Adorned with a pair of jeweled earrings, radiant upon the cheeks.
शांतं सरस्वतीकांतं लक्ष्मीधृतपदांबुजम्
Serene, beloved of Sarasvati, with Lakshmi holding his lotus feet.
सुनंदनंदकुमुदैः पार्षदैरुपसेवितम् परमानंदरूपं च भक्तानुग्रहकारकम्
Attended by companions Sunanda, Nanda, and Kumuda; of supreme blissful form, bestowing grace upon devotees.
तं प्रणेमुः सुरेंद्राश्च भक्त्या ब्रह्मादयो मुने परमानंदभारार्ताः पुलकांचितविग्रहाः
The lords of the gods, including Brahma and others, bowed to him with devotion, O sage, overwhelmed by supreme bliss, their bodies thrilled with joy.
ब्रह्मोवाच नमामि कमलाकांतं शांतं सर्वेष्टमच्युतम्
Brahma said: I bow to the beloved of Lakshmi, serene, the wish-fulfilling, the imperishable.
मनवश्च मुनींद्राश्च मानुषाश्च चराचराः
The Manus, the foremost sages, humans, and all moving and unmoving beings.
शंकर उवाच अनादिमादिमानंदरूपिणं सर्वरूपिणम्
Shankara said: The beginningless, the source of bliss, of all forms.
अणिमादिकसिद्धीनां कारणं सर्वकारणम्
The cause of all, and the origin of the powers such as aṇimā and others.
वेदे निर्वचनीयं यत्तन्निर्वक्तुं च कः क्षमः
That which is described in the Vedas—who is capable of describing it?
तदतिरिक्तं स्तवनं किमहं स्तौमि निर्गुणम्
What further praise can I offer? How can I praise the attributeless?
पठित्वा मुच्यते दुर्गाद्वाञ्छितं च लभेन्नरः
By reciting this, one is freed from difficulty, and a person attains what they desire.
गोलोकं यात यूयं च यामि पश्चाच्छ्रिया सह
You all go to Goloka; I shall go later with Shri.
एते यास्यंति गोलोके तथा देवी सरस्वती सावित्री वेदमाता च पश्चाद्यास्यंति निश्चितम्
These will go to Goloka, as will the goddess Sarasvati and Savitri, the mother of the Vedas; certainly, they will go afterwards.
नारायणश्च कृष्णोऽहं श्वेतद्वीपनिवासकृत्
Narayana, Krishna, and I reside in Shvetadvipa.
कलाकलांशकलया सुरासुरनरादयः
By portions and partial portions, the gods, demons, and humans.
वयं पश्चाद्गमिष्यामः सर्वेषामिष्टसिद्धये
We shall go afterwards, for the fulfillment of everyone's wishes.
