ये मिथ्यावादिनस्तात दयासत्य विवर्जिताः
Those, O dear one, who speak falsely and are devoid of compassion and truthfulness,
मित्रद्रोही कृतघ्नश्च मिथ्यासाक्ष्यप्रदायकः
One who betrays friends, is ungrateful, or gives false testimony,
कल्याणसूक्तसामानि हरेर्नामैकमंगलम्
Auspicious hymns and chants are many, but the name of Hari alone is supremely auspicious.
जीवघाती गुरुद्रोही ग्रामयाजी च लुब्धकः
One who kills living beings, betrays the teacher, performs village sacrifices, or is a hunter,
पूजायज्ञोपवासादि व्रतानि विविधानि च
Various vows such as worship, sacrifice, fasting, and others,
सदा द्विषंति ये पापा गोविप्रसुरवैष्णवान्
Those sinful ones who always hate cows, Brahmins, gods, and Vaishnavas,
शंखादीनां च भारेण पीडिताऽहं यथा विधे
O Creator, I am oppressed by the burden of conch shells and other objects,
इत्येवं कथितं सर्वं मद्व्यथाया निवेदनम्
Thus, all my suffering has been described and submitted.
इत्येवमुक्त्वा वसुधा रुरोद च मुहुर्मुहुः
Having spoken thus, the Earth wept again and again.
भारं तवापनेष्यामि दस्यूनामप्युपायतः
I will remove your burden, even by means of the destruction of the wicked.
कालेन भारहरणं करिष्यति मदीश्वरः
In due time, my Lord will accomplish the removal of the burden.
मधुकाष्ठं चंदनं च कस्तूरीं तीर्थमृत्तिकाम्
Honey, sandalwood, musk, and sacred clay from holy places,
इंद्रनीलं सूर्यमणिं रुद्राक्षं कुशमूलकम्
Indranila gem, sunstone, rudraksha, and kusha root,
शंखं प्रदीपमालां च शिलामर्च्यां च घंटिकाम् ग्रंथियुक्तं यज्ञसूत्रं दर्पणं श्वेतचामरम्
Conch, garland of lamps, stone for worship, small bell, sacred thread with knots, mirror, and white yak-tail fan,
गोरोचनं च मुक्तां च शुक्तिं माणिक्यमेव च
Cow's gall, pearl, oyster shell, and also ruby,
रजतं कांचनं चैव प्रवालं रत्नमेव च
Silver, gold, coral, and also precious gems,
त्वयि ये स्थापयिष्यंति मूढाश्चैतानि सुन्दरि
O beautiful one, those foolish people who will establish these in you—
ब्रह्मा पृथ्वीं समाश्वास्य देवताभिस्तया सह
Brahma, having comforted the earth together with the deities—
गत्वा तमाश्रमं रम्यं ददर्श शंकरं विधिः
Having gone to that delightful hermitage, the creator saw Shankara.
व्याघ्रचर्मपरीधानं दक्षकन्यास्थिभूषणम्
Clad in a tiger skin, adorned with the bones of Daksha’s daughters—
नानासिद्धैः परिवृतं योगींद्रगणसेवितम्
Surrounded by various accomplished beings, served by groups of great yogis—
गंधर्वाणां च संगीतं श्रुतवंतं कुतूहलात्
Out of curiosity, he heard the singing of the Gandharvas—
जपंतं पञ्चवक्त्रेण हरेर्नामैकमङ्गलम्
Reciting, with his five mouths, the single auspicious name of Hari—
एतस्मिन्नंतरे ब्रह्मा तस्थावग्रे स धूर्जटेः
Meanwhile, Brahma stood before Dhurjati (Shiva).
उत्तस्थौ शंकरः शीघ्रं भक्त्या दृष्ट्वा जगद्गुरुम्
Shankara quickly rose, seeing the teacher of the world with devotion.
प्रणेमुर्देवताः सर्वे शंकरं चंद्रशेखरम्
All the deities bowed to Shankara, the moon-crested one.
वृत्तांतं कथयामास पार्वतीशं प्रजापतिः
The lord of creatures narrated the events to Parvati’s lord.
भक्तापायं समाकर्ण्य पार्वतीपरमेश्वरौ
Hearing of the loss of devotion, Parvati and the supreme lord—
ततो ब्रह्मा महेशश्च सुरसंघान्वसुंधराम्
Then Brahma and Mahesha, along with the hosts of gods and the earth—
ततो देवेश्वरैस्तूर्णमागत्य धर्ममंदिरम्
Then, with the lords of the gods, they swiftly arrived at the temple of Dharma.
