न जेता ते त्रिभुवने ह्यसुरेंद्रो भविष्यसि
You will not be victorious in the three worlds; you shall not become king of the demons.
आगमिष्यसि पंचाशद्युगांते तु ममाशिषा 4.3.
At the end of fifty yugas, you will return by my blessing.
त्वद्भक्तिरहितं मां च कदाचिन्न करिष्यसि
You will never make me devoid of your devotion.
पश्चाज्जगाम सा देवी रुरोद च पुनःपुनः
Afterwards, the goddess departed and wept again and again.
श्रीदामाऽपि च तां नत्वा रुरोद प्रेमविह्वलः
Śrīdāma also bowed to her and wept, overwhelmed by love.
गते श्रीदाम्नि सा देवी जगामेश्वरसन्निधिम्
When Śrīdāma had departed, the goddess went to the presence of the Lord.
शोकातुरां च तां कृष्णो बोधयामास प्रेयसीम्
Kṛṣṇa comforted his beloved, who was afflicted with sorrow.
राधा जगाम धरणीं वाराहे हरिणा सह
Rādhā went to the earth along with Hari in the form of a boar.
इत्येवं कथितं सर्वं श्रीकृष्णाख्यानमंगलम्
Thus, everything has been narrated—the auspicious story of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
आजगाम जगन्नाथो वद वेदविदां वर
The Lord of the universe arrived; speak, O best among those who know the Vedas.
भृशं बभूव शोकार्ता ब्रह्माणं शरणं ययौ
Greatly afflicted by sorrow, she sought refuge with Brahmā.
सुरैश्चासुरसंतप्तैर्भृशमुद्विग्नमानसैः
And with her came the gods, tormented by the demons, their minds deeply troubled.
ददर्श तस्यां देवेशं ज्वलंतं ब्रह्मतेजसा
There she beheld the Lord of the gods, blazing with the radiance of Brahman.
अप्सरोगणनृत्यं च पश्यंतं सस्मितं मुदा
He was watching the dance of the assembly of apsarases, smiling with delight.
जपंतं परमं ब्रह्म कृष्ण इत्यक्षरद्वयम्
He was reciting the supreme Brahman, the two syllables 'Kṛṣṇa.'
भक्त्या सा त्रिदशैः सार्द्धं प्रणम्य चतुराननम् साऽश्रुपूर्णा सपुलका तुष्टाव च रुरोद च
With devotion, together with the gods, she bowed to the four-faced one; filled with tears and her hair standing on end, she praised him and wept.
तामुवाच जगद्धाता कथं स्तौषि च रोदिषि
The creator of the world spoke to her: 'Why do you praise and weep?'
सुस्थिरा भव कल्याणि भयं किं ते मयि स्थिते
'Be steadfast, O auspicious one; what fear is there for you while I am present?'
कथमागमनं देवा युष्माकं मम सन्निधिम्
'What is the reason for your coming, O gods, into my presence?'
भाराक्रांता च वसुधा दस्युग्रस्ता वयं प्रभो
'The earth is weighed down, O Lord, and we are oppressed by robbers.'
गतिस्त्वमस्या भो ब्रह्मन्निर्वृतिं कर्तुमर्हसि
'You are her refuge, O Brahmā; you ought to bring her relief.'
वयं तेनैव दुःखार्तास्तद्भारहरणं कुरु
'We are distressed because of this; remove that burden.'
दूरीकृत्य भयं वत्से सुखं तिष्ठ ममांतिकम्
'Cast aside your fear, child, and remain happily near me.'
अपनेष्यामि तं भद्रे भद्रं ते भविता धुवम् पीडिता येन येनैवं प्रसन्नवदनेक्षणा
'I shall remove that, O blessed one; surely good will come to you, afflicted as you are, as she gazed with a gracious countenance.'
विना बंधुं सविश्वासं नान्यं कथितुमर्हति
'Without a trusted relative, one should not speak of this to another.'
स्त्रीजातिरबला शश्वद्रक्षणीया स्वबंधुभिः
'Women are always weak and must be protected by their own kin.'
त्वया पृष्टा जगत्तात न लज्जा कथितुं मम
'Since you have asked, O Lord of the world, I am not ashamed to speak.'
कृष्णभक्तिविहीना ये ये च तद्भक्तनिंदकाः
Those who are devoid of devotion to Kṛṣṇa, and those who revile his devotees—
स्वधर्माचारहीना ये नित्यकृत्यविवर्जिताः
Those who are devoid of proper conduct according to their own duty and neglect their daily prescribed actions,
पितृमातृगुरुस्त्रीणां पोषणं पुत्रपोष्ययोः
Who fail to support their fathers, mothers, teachers, wives, and sons who require care,
