पुटांजलिकराः काश्चित्काश्चित्स्तुतिपरा वराः
Some held folded hands in reverence, and others, excellent ones, were devoted to praise.
बहिर्देशस्थिताः काश्चित्कोटिशः कोटिशः सदा
Some always stood outside, in countless multitudes.
कृष्णमभ्यंतरं गंतुं न ददुर्द्वारसंस्थिताः नानुरूपमत्यकथ्ययमयोग्यमतिकर्कशम्
Those stationed at the door did not allow Krishna to enter within; they spoke words unfitting, inappropriate, and exceedingly harsh.
हे कृष्ण विरजाकांत गच्छ मत्पुरतो हरे
O Krishna, beloved of Virajā, go, O Hari, before me.
शीघ्रं पद्मावतीं गच्छ रत्नमालां मनोरमाम् 4.3.
Quickly go to Padmāvatī, to Ratnamālā, the delightful one.
हे नदीकांत देवेश देवानां च गुरोर्गुरो
O beloved of the river, Lord of the gods, teacher of the gods and their guru!
शश्वत्ते मानुषाणां च व्यवहारस्य लंपट
People are always eager for dealings that are self-serving.
राधिकावचनं श्रुत्वा तमूचुर्गोपिका हरिम्
Hearing Rādhikā’s words, the gopīs spoke to Hari.
काश्चिदूचुरिति हरे गच्छ स्थानांतरं क्षणम्
Some said, 'O Hari, go to another place for a moment.'
काश्चिदूचुरिति प्रीत्या क्षणं गच्छ गृहांतरम्
Some said affectionately, 'Go for a moment to another house.'
काश्चिदूचुरिति प्रेम्णा राधिकायां हरिं मुने
Some, out of love for Rādhikā, spoke to Hari, O sage.
काश्चिदित्यूचुरीशं च परिहासपरं वचः
Some said to the Lord words filled with playful mockery.
काश्चनोचुरिति हरिं सस्मितं पुरतः स्थितम् 4.3.
Some spoke to Hari, who stood before them, smiling.
काश्चनोचुरिति प्राणनाथं गोप्यो दुरक्षरम्
Some gopīs spoke indistinct words to their beloved Lord.
काश्चनोचुरिति विभुं व्रज स्थानांतरं हरे
Some said to the all-pervading Hari, 'Go to another place in Vraja.'
काश्चनोचुरितीदं तं प्रगल्भाः प्रमदोत्तमाः
Some bold and foremost women spoke these words to him.
काश्चिन्निवारयामासुर्माधवं प्रमदोत्तमाः
Some of the foremost women tried to restrain Mādhava.
गोपीर्भिर्वार्यमाणे च जगत्कारणकारणे
While the gopīs tried to restrain him, who is the cause of the cause of the universe—
कोपादुवाच श्रीदामा राधिकां परमेश्वरीम्
Out of anger, Śrīdāmā spoke to Rādhikā, the supreme goddess.
विचारणां विना देवि करोषि भर्त्सनं वृथा
'Without any inquiry, O goddess, you rebuke in vain.'
ब्रह्मानंतेशदेवेशं जगत्कारणकारणम्
'He is the Lord of Brahmā, Ananta, and Śiva, the cause of the cause of the world.'
यस्य पादार्चनेनैव सर्वेषामीश्वरी परा 4.3.
By worshipping whose feet, the supreme goddess of all becomes sovereign—
भ्रूभंगलीलया कृष्णः स्रष्टुं शक्तश्च त्वद्विधाः
With a playful movement of his brow, Kṛṣṇa is able to create beings like you.
वैकुंठे श्रीहरेरस्य चरणांबुजमार्जनम्
In Vaikuṇṭha, the service is to wash the lotus feet of Śrī Hari.
सरस्वती च स्तवनैः कर्णपीयूषसुंदरैः
And Sarasvati, with praises sweet as nectar to the ears,
भीता च प्रकृतिर्माया सर्वेषां बीजरूपिणी
Prakriti, the power of illusion, fearful, the seed-form of all beings,
स्तुवंति सततं वेदा महिम्नः षोडशीं कलाम्
The Vedas constantly praise the sixteenth part of her greatness,
वक्त्रैश्चतुर्भिर्यं ब्रह्मा वेदानां जनको विभुः
Brahma, the lord, creator of the Vedas, with his four faces,
शंकरः पंचभिर्वक्त्रैः स्तौति यं योगिनां गुरुः
Shankara, the guru of yogis, praises her with his five faces,
शेषः सहस्रवदनैः परमात्मानमीश्वरम्
Shesha, with a thousand mouths, praises the Supreme Self, the Lord,
