चकार श्रीहरिं क्रोडे विजहार स्मरातुरा
She embraced Śrī Hari and, overcome with love, sported with him.
वरं तस्यै ददौ प्रीत्या प्रसन्नवदनेक्षणः
With a pleased and smiling face, he granted her a boon out of affection.
यथा राधा तत्समा त्वं भविष्यसि प्रिया मम
Just as Rādhā is, so you shall be, my beloved.
इत्युक्तवंतं श्रीकृष्णं वसंतं विरजांतिके
To Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who spoke thus and was staying near Virajā—
श्रुत्वा रुरोष सा देवी सुष्वाप क्रोधमंदिरे 4.3.
Hearing this, that goddess became angry and slept in the mansion of wrath.
स तस्थौ राधिकाद्वारे श्रीदाम्ना सह नारद
Nārada, together with Śrīdāma, stood at the door of Rādhikā.
मत्तो बहुतराः कांता गोलोके संति ते हरे
O Hari, there are many more beloveds than me in Goloka.
विरजा प्रेयसी कांता सरिद्रूपा बभूव ह
Virajā, the beloved, became a river in form.
तत्तीरे मंदिरं कृत्वा तिष्ठ तिष्ठ च याहि ताम्
Build a temple on that bank and remain there; stay, and then go to her.
नदस्य नद्या सार्द्धं च संगमो गुणवान्भवेत्
The confluence of the river with the stream becomes endowed with virtue.
देवचूडामणेः क्रीडा नद्या सार्द्धमहो बत
Oh, how wondrous is the play of the crest-jewel of the gods together with the river!
ये त्वां वदंति सर्वेशं ते किं जानंति तत्त्वतः
Those who call you the Lord of all—what do they truly know of your reality?
इत्युक्त्वा राधिका देवी विरराम रुषाऽन्विता
Having spoken thus, the goddess Rādhikā ceased, filled with anger.
काश्चिच्चामरहस्ताश्च काश्चित्सूक्ष्मांशुकांबराः
Some held fly-whisks in their hands, and some were clad in fine, delicate garments.
वासितोदकराः काश्चित्काश्चित्पद्मकरा वराः 4.3.
Some carried perfumed water, and others, excellent ones, held lotuses in their hands.
रत्नालंकारहस्ताश्च काश्चित्कज्जलवाहिकाः
Some held jeweled ornaments in their hands, and others bore vessels of kohl.
काश्चिदावीरहस्ताश्च यंत्रहस्ताश्च काश्चन
Some held mirrors in their hands, and some held various instruments.
करतालकराः काश्चिद्गेंदुहस्ताश्च काश्चन
Some clapped their hands, and others held balls in their hands.
संगीतनिपुणाः काश्चित्काश्चिन्नर्तनतत्पराः
Some were skilled in music, and others were devoted to dancing.
सुधापात्रकराः काश्चिदंघ्रिपीठकराः पराः
Some held vessels of nectar, while others held footstools.
पुटांजलिकराः काश्चित्काश्चित्स्तुतिपरा वराः
Some held folded hands in reverence, and others, excellent ones, were devoted to praise.
बहिर्देशस्थिताः काश्चित्कोटिशः कोटिशः सदा
Some always stood outside, in countless multitudes.
कृष्णमभ्यंतरं गंतुं न ददुर्द्वारसंस्थिताः नानुरूपमत्यकथ्ययमयोग्यमतिकर्कशम्
Those stationed at the door did not allow Krishna to enter within; they spoke words unfitting, inappropriate, and exceedingly harsh.
हे कृष्ण विरजाकांत गच्छ मत्पुरतो हरे
O Krishna, beloved of Virajā, go, O Hari, before me.
शीघ्रं पद्मावतीं गच्छ रत्नमालां मनोरमाम् 4.3.
Quickly go to Padmāvatī, to Ratnamālā, the delightful one.
हे नदीकांत देवेश देवानां च गुरोर्गुरो
O beloved of the river, Lord of the gods, teacher of the gods and their guru!
शश्वत्ते मानुषाणां च व्यवहारस्य लंपट
People are always eager for dealings that are self-serving.
राधिकावचनं श्रुत्वा तमूचुर्गोपिका हरिम्
Hearing Rādhikā’s words, the gopīs spoke to Hari.
काश्चिदूचुरिति हरे गच्छ स्थानांतरं क्षणम्
Some said, 'O Hari, go to another place for a moment.'
काश्चिदूचुरिति प्रीत्या क्षणं गच्छ गृहांतरम्
Some said affectionately, 'Go for a moment to another house.'
