कृष्णस्तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा बोधयामास सुंदरीम्
Krishna, hearing those words, instructed the beautiful one.
महीतलं गमिष्यामि वाराहे च वरानने
I will descend to the earth, O beautiful-faced one, in the Varaha age.
व्रजं गत्वा व्रजे देवि विहरिष्यामि कानने
Going to Vraja, O goddess, I will delight in the forests there.
किं वा तस्य भयं कंसाद्भयांतकारकस्य च
What fear could there be for him, the destroyer of Kamsa and of fear itself?
विजहार तया सार्धं गोपवेषं विधाय सः
He sported with her, adopting the cowherd form.
ब्रह्मणा प्रार्थितः कृष्णः समागत्य महीतलम्
Krishna, requested by Brahma, descended to the earth.
नारद उवाच संक्षेपात्कथितं पूर्वं संव्यस्य कथयाधुना ।। 4.2.
Narada said: Previously, the story was told briefly; now narrate it in detail.
एकदा राधया सार्धं गोलोके श्रीहरिः स्वयम्
Once, together with Radha, Shri Hari Himself was in Goloka.
राधिकासुखसंभोगाद् बुबुधे न स्वकं परम्
Absorbed in the pleasure of union with Rādhikā, he was unaware of anything else, even himself.
गोपिकां विरजामन्यां शृङ्गारार्थं जगाम ह
For the sake of love, he went to another gopī, Virajā.
तस्या वयस्याः सुंदर्यो गोपीनां शतकोटयः
Her companions were beautiful, and there were hundreds of millions of gopīs.
रत्नसिंहासनस्था सा ददर्श हरिमन्तिके
Seated upon a jeweled throne, she beheld Hari before her.
मनोहरां सस्मितां च पश्यंतीं वक्रचक्षुषा
She gazed with sidelong glances, charming and smiling.
रत्नालंकारशोभाढ्यां भूषितां शुक्लवाससा
Adorned with splendid jeweled ornaments, she was dressed in white garments.
दृष्ट्वा तां श्रीहरिस्तूर्णं विजहार तया सह
Seeing her, Śrī Hari at once sported with her.
मूर्च्छामवाप विरजा कृष्णशृंगारकौतुकात्
Virajā fell unconscious from the excitement of Kṛṣṇa's amorous play.
तया सक्तं श्रीहरिं च रत्नमंडपसंस्थितम् 4.2.
Śrī Hari, attached to her, remained in the jeweled pavilion.
तासां च वचनं श्रुत्वा सुष्वाप च चुकोप ह
Hearing their words, he slept soundly and was angered.
ता उवाच महादेवी मां तं दर्शयितुं क्षमाः
The great goddess said to them, 'You are able to show me him.'
करिष्यामि फलं गोप्याः कृष्णस्य च यथोचितम्
I will give the gopī and Kṛṣṇa the result that is fitting.
शीघ्रमानयताल्यश्च तया सार्द्धं हरिं प्रियम्
Quickly bring my beloved Hari here together with her.
मदाश्रयं समागंतुं यूयं दासं न दास्यथ
If you do not bring him to my presence, you shall not remain my servants.
राधिकावचनं श्रुत्वा काश्चिद्गोप्यो भयान्विताः तामूचुः पुरतः स्थित्वा सर्वा एव प्रियां सतीम्
Hearing Rādhikā's words, some gopīs, filled with fear, stood before her, the beloved and virtuous one, and spoke.
वयं तं दर्शयिष्यामो विरजासहितं विभुम्
We will show you the Lord together with Virajā.
तासां च वचनं श्रुत्वा रथमारुह्य सुंदरी
Hearing their words, the beautiful one mounted the chariot.
रत्नेंद्रसाररचितं कोटिसूर्यसमप्रभम्
It was fashioned from the best of jewels and shone with the brilliance of ten million suns.
राजितं चित्रराजीभिर्वैजयंतीविराजितम् 4.2.
Adorned with rows of splendid banners and resplendent with the Vaijayanti garland,
मणिसारविकारैश्च कोटिस्तंभैः सुशोभितम्
Made beautiful by pillars of pure jewels, shining in their millions,
सिंदूराकारमणिभिर्मध्यदेशे विभूषितैः
With the central region decorated by jewels of a vermilion hue,
चतुर्लक्षपरिमितैश्चित्रघंटासमन्वितैः
And furnished with four hundred thousand ornate bells,
