उक्त्वा परशुरामश्चेति नत्वा तां रुरोद ह
Having spoken thus, Parashurama bowed to her and wept.
अमरो भव हे पुत्र वत्स सुस्थिरतां व्रज
Become immortal, O son; dear one, attain firm stability.
सर्वान्तरात्मा भगवांस्तुष्टस्स्यात्सन्ततं हरिः 3.45.
The blessed Hari, the inner soul of all, is always pleased.
इष्टदेवे गुरौ यस्य भक्तिर्भवति शाश्वती
He whose devotion to the chosen deity and to the guru is eternal.
श्रीकृष्णस्य च भक्तस्त्वं शिष्यो वै शंकरस्य च
You are a devotee of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and indeed a disciple of Śaṃkara.
अहो न कृष्णभक्तानामशुभं विद्यते क्वचित्
Truly, there is never any misfortune for the devotees of Kṛṣṇa.
चन्द्रमा बलवांस्तुष्टो येषां भाग्यवतां भृगो
O Bhṛgu, for those fortunate ones whom the Moon is pleased with, he becomes powerful.
यस्मै तुष्टः पालयति नरदेवो महान्सुखी
The great king, when pleased with someone, protects him and grants great happiness.
इत्युक्त्वा पार्वती तुष्टा दत्त्वा रामाय चाशिषम्
Having spoken thus, Pārvatī, being pleased, bestowed a blessing upon Rāma.
स्तोत्रं वै काण्वशाखोक्तं पूजाकाले च यः पठेत्
Whoever recites this hymn, as spoken in the Kāṇva branch, at the time of worship—
पुत्रार्थी लभते पुत्रं कन्यार्थी कन्यकां लभेत् भ्रष्टराज्यो लभेद्राज्यं नष्टवित्तो धनं लभेत्
One desiring a son obtains a son; one desiring a daughter obtains a daughter; one who has lost a kingdom regains it; one who has lost wealth obtains wealth.
यस्य रुष्टो गुरुर्देवो राजा वा बान्धवोऽथवा
If someone's guru, deity, king, or relative is angry with him—
दस्युग्रस्तः फणिग्रस्तश्शत्रुग्रस्तो भयानकः ।। 3.45.
Or if he is seized by robbers, by serpents, or by terrifying enemies—
राजद्वारे श्मशाने च कारागारे च बन्धने
At the king's gate, in the cremation ground, in prison, or in bondage—
स्वामिभेदे पुत्रभेदे मित्रभेदे च दारुणे
In the harshness of division with master, with son, or with friend—
कृत्वा हविष्यं वर्षं च स्तोत्रराजं शृणोति या
Whoever, having performed a year of offerings, listens to this king of hymns—
लभते सा दिव्यपुत्रं ज्ञानिनं चिरजीविनम्
She obtains a divine son, wise and long-lived.
कन्यामाता पुत्रहीना पञ्चमासं शृणोति या
A mother of a daughter, bereft of a son, who listens for five months—
नारायण उवाच स्तोत्रेण हरिणोक्तेन स तुष्टाव गणाधिपम्
Nārāyaṇa said: With the hymn spoken by Hari, he praised the lord of the Gaṇas.
पूजां चकार भक्त्या च नैवेद्यैर्विविधैरपि
He performed worship with devotion, using various offerings of food.
सम्पूज्य भ्रातरं भक्त्या स रामः शंकराज्ञया
Having worshipped his brother with devotion, Rāma did so by the command of Śaṃkara.
नारद उवाच नैवद्यैर्विविधैः पुष्पैस्तुलसीं च विना कथम्
Nārada said: How can one offer various foods and flowers without Tulasī?
तुलसी सर्वपुष्पाणां मान्या धन्या मनोहरा
Among all flowers, Tulasi is honored, blessed, and enchanting.
नारायण उवाच ब्रह्मकल्पस्य वृत्तान्तं निगूढं च मनोहरम्
Narayana spoke: The account of the Brahma-kalpa is secret and delightful.
एकदा तुलसी देवी प्रोद्भिन्ननवयौवना
Once, Tulasi Devi blossomed into fresh youth.
ददर्श गङ्गातीरे सा गणेशं यौवनान्वितम्
She saw Ganesha, endowed with youth, on the bank of the Ganga.
चन्दनोक्षितसर्वांगं रत्नभूषणभूषितम्
His entire body was smeared with sandalwood and adorned with jeweled ornaments.
जितेन्द्रियाणां प्रवरं योगीन्द्राणां गुरोर्गुरुम् 3.46.
He was the foremost among those who have mastered their senses, the guru of yogis and teachers.
तुलस्युवाच कथं लम्बोदरो देहो गजवक्त्रं कथं तव
Tulasi spoke: How is your body pot-bellied, and how do you have an elephant face?
एकदन्तः कथं वक्त्रे वदामुत्र च कारणम्
How is there a single tusk in your mouth? Tell me the reason for this.
