Whatever old deeds he has done, whether good or bad,

If, within seven days, a person afflicted by disease becomes like the dead or dies—
I have brought royal death, Yama, and Time, along with disease, before you.

Hearing the words of the Brahmin, Mālāvatī, who was flourishing, remained steadfast.

You have made a promise to bring my beloved back to life.
Afterwards, the best among the knowers of the Veda will revive my beloved.
In the assembly, when her beloved was alive and in the presence of that intense one—

A maiden born in a noble family, who is obedient to her husband—
But the wicked one, the lowest among women, serves another man—
I am Upabarhaṇa’s wife, and also the daughter of Citraratha.
You, best of those who know the Veda, are able to measure all time.
Hearing the words of Mālāvatī, the best of the knowers of the Veda—

First, the virtuous Mālatī saw the maiden of death.

The chaste woman saw Time, a portion of Nārāyaṇa, standing before her.
