ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादीनां सेव्यं बीजं परात्परम्
The seed, most supreme, worshipped by Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and others.
साकारं च निराकारं ज्योतिः स्वेच्छामयं विभुम् 1.14.
With form and without form, a light, sovereign, made of its own will, the all-pervading.
निर्लिप्तसाक्षिरूपं च भक्तानुग्रहविग्रहम्
Detached, as the witness, and taking form for the grace of devotees.
स सर्वं मन्यते तुच्छं सालोक्यादिचतुष्टयम्
He regards as insignificant all the four states, including Sālokya.
ऐश्वर्यं लोष्टतुल्यं च नश्वरं चैव मन्यते
He considers lordship as equal to a clod of earth, and as perishable.
जल बुद्बुदवद् बुद्ध्या चातितुच्छं न गण्यते
He does not count as anything, even in thought, what is utterly insignificant, like a bubble of water.
दास्यं विना न याचेत श्रीकृष्णस्य पदं परम्
Without servitude, one should not seek the supreme abode of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
परिपूर्णतमं ब्रह्म निषेव्यं सुस्थिरः सदा
Serving the most complete Brahman, one always remains steady.
श्वशुरस्य शतं पूर्वमुद्धृत्य चावलीलया
Having rescued a hundred of his father-in-law's line by playful grace,
उद्धरेत्कृष्णभक्तश्च गोलोकं याति निश्चितम्
A devotee of Kṛṣṇa rescues them and certainly goes to Goloka.
यमस्तल्लिखनं दूरं करोति तत्क्षणं भिया 1.14.
Yama, out of fear, instantly erases his record from the register.
अहो विलङ्घ्य मल्लोकं मार्गेणानेन यास्यति
Ah! Crossing over the world of death, he will go by this path.
दुरितानि च भीतानि कोटिजन्मकृतानि च
Sins, even those committed over millions of births, become afraid.
पुरातनं कृतं कर्म यद्यत्तस्य शुभाशुभम्
Whatever old deeds he has done, whether good or bad,
तं विहाय जरा मृत्युर्याति चक्रभिया सति
Abandoning him, old age and death depart when there is fear of the discus.
निःशङ्को याति गोलोकं विहाय मानवीं तनुम्
Without fear, he goes to Goloka, leaving behind his human body.
यावत्कृष्णो हि गोलोके तावद्भक्तो वसेत्सदा
As long as Krishna remains in Goloka, so long does the devotee always dwell there.
ब्राह्मण उवाच सर्वरोगचिकित्सां च जानामि च चिकित्सकः
The Brahmin said: I know the treatment for all diseases, and I am a physician.
मृततुल्यं मृतं रोगात्सप्ताहाभ्यन्तरे सति
If, within seven days, a person afflicted by disease becomes like the dead or dies—
राजमृत्युं यमं कालं व्याधिमानीय त्वत्पुरः
I have brought royal death, Yama, and Time, along with disease, before you.
यतो न सञ्चरेद्व्याधिर्देहेषु देहधारिणाम्
Therefore, disease does not move among the bodies of embodied beings.
यतो न सञ्चरेद्व्याधिबीजं दुष्टममङ्गलम्
Therefore, the evil and inauspicious seed of disease does not spread.
यो वा योगेन खेदेन देहत्यागं करोति च
Or, one who by yoga or by hardship gives up the body—
ब्राह्मणस्य वचः श्रुत्वा स्फीता मालावती सती
Hearing the words of the Brahmin, Mālāvatī, who was flourishing, remained steadfast.
मालावत्युवाच वयसाऽतिशिशुर्दृष्टो ज्ञानं योगविदां परम्
Mālāvatī said: Though you appear very young in age, your knowledge is supreme among those skilled in yoga.
त्वया कृता प्रतिज्ञा च कान्तं जीवयितुं मम
You have made a promise to bring my beloved back to life.
जीवयिष्यति मत्कान्तं पश्चाद्वेदविदां वरः 1.15.
Afterwards, the best among the knowers of the Veda will revive my beloved.
सभायां जीविते कान्ते तस्य तीव्रस्य सन्निधौ
In the assembly, when her beloved was alive and in the presence of that intense one—
एते ब्रह्मादयो देवा विद्यमानाश्च संसदि
These gods, beginning with Brahmā, and those present in the assembly—
नारीं रक्षति भर्त्तां चेन्न कोऽपि खण्डितुं क्षमः
If a woman protects her husband, then no one is able to harm him.
