गणपतिरुवाच पितुर्भ्रातुर्मुखाज्ज्ञानं दुर्लभं भाग्यवाँल्लभेत्
Gaṇapati said: Knowledge from the mouth of one's father or brother is rare; only the fortunate obtain it.
श्रुतं ज्ञानं विशिष्टं च ज्ञानिनामपि दुर्लभम्
Even heard knowledge, and that which is exceptional, is difficult to attain even for the wise.
यो निर्गुणः स निर्लिप्तः शक्तिभिर्न हि संयुतः
He who is without qualities is untouched; he is not associated with powers.
यावन्ति च शरीराणि भोगार्हाणि महामुने
O great sage, as many bodies as there are fit for enjoyment—
ध्यायन्ति योगिनस्तं च शुद्धज्योतिस्स्वरूपिणम्
Yogis meditate upon him, whose form is pure light.
वैष्णवास्ते नमस्यन्ति भक्तानुग्रहकारकम्
The Vaiṣṇavas worship him, who bestows grace upon devotees.
ज्योतिरभ्यन्तरे नित्यं शरीरं श्यामसुन्दरम् 3.42.
Within the light, always, is the body of Śyāmasundara.
अतीवामूल्यसद्रत्नभूषणैश्च विभूषितम्
It is adorned with ornaments made of exceedingly precious jewels.
तदा दास्ये नियुक्तास्ते भवन्त्येवेश्वरेच्छया
Then, those appointed as servants act only by the will of the Lord.
यदा सृष्ट्युन्मुखः कृष्णः ससृजे प्रकृतिं मुदा । तद्योनौ ह्यर्पितं वीर्यं वीर्य्याड्डिम्भो बभूव ह
When Kṛṣṇa, eager for creation, joyfully produced Prakṛti, the seed placed in that womb became an embryo.
दिव्येन लक्षवर्षेण गर्भाड्डिम्भो विनिर्गतः
After a divine hundred thousand years, the embryo emerged from the womb.
निश्श्वासेन समं भ्रातर्मुखबिन्दुर्विनिर्गतः
Along with his breath, a drop from his brother's mouth came forth.
तज्जले च स्थितो डिम्भो दिव्यवर्षाणि लक्षकम्
That embryo remained in the water for a hundred thousand divine years.
यावन्ति गात्रलोमानि तस्य सन्ति महात्मनः
As many body hairs as there are on that great soul—
तत्रैव प्रतिविध्यण्डे ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेश्वराः
In each corresponding egg, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Maheśvara reside.
महाविराडाश्रयश्च सर्वस्य च जनस्य च
He is the refuge of the great Virāṭ and of all beings.
महाविष्णुश्च कलया ततः क्षुद्रविराडभूत् 3.42.
From Mahāviṣṇu, by his portion, the lesser Virāṭ was born.
विष्णुस्तदंशः पाता यः श्वेतद्वीपनिवासकृत्
Viṣṇu's portion is the protector, who dwells in Śvetadvīpa.
स्वयं च स्वांशकलया नानामूर्त्तिधरो हरिः
Hari himself, by his own portion and power, assumes various forms.
कथं लज्जादिरहितः स च स्वच्छामयो महान्
How is it that he, though of pure essence, is without shame and the like?
लज्जा नास्त्येव लज्जाया मतोऽयं सर्वसम्मतः
There is truly no shame in her; this is the opinion accepted by all.
सर्वशक्तिमती दुर्गा प्रकृत्या सा च शैलजा
Durga, endowed with all powers, is by nature the daughter of the mountain.
पञ्चधा प्रकृतिर्या च श्रीकृष्णस्य बभूव ह
That Prakriti, which became fivefold, belonged to Shri Krishna.
प्राणाधिष्ठातृदेवी या कृष्णस्य परमात्मनः
She who is the goddess presiding over life is of Krishna, the Supreme Self.
विद्याधिष्ठातृदेवी या सावित्री ब्रह्मणः प्रिया
She who is the goddess presiding over knowledge is Savitri, beloved of Brahma.
सरस्वती द्विधा भूत्वा कृष्णस्य मुख निर्गता
Sarasvati, having become twofold, emerged from the mouth of Krishna.
बुद्ध्यधिष्ठातृदेवी या ज्ञानसूः शक्तिसंयुता 3.42.
She who is the goddess presiding over intellect, the source of knowledge, endowed with power.
प्रकृतिः पञ्चधा भ्रातर्गोलोके च बभूव ह
Brother, Prakriti became fivefold also in Goloka.
विप्रेन्द्र नित्यं वैकुण्ठं ब्रह्माण्डात्परमुच्यते
O best of Brahmins, Vaikuntha is always said to be beyond the cosmic egg.
तत्र नारायणो देवः कृष्णार्द्धांशश्चतुर्भुजः
There, Narayana, the god, is present, four-armed, as a partial expansion of Krishna.
