अष्ठी वपति संसारे गृहस्थो विष्णुमायया
In this world, the householder sows eight kinds of seeds by the power of Viṣṇu's māyā.
पुण्यवान्पुण्यभूमौ च करोति सुचिरं तपः 1.14.
The virtuous person performs long austerities in the land of merit.
ब्राह्मणानां मुखे क्षेत्रे श्रेष्ठेऽनूषर एव च
In the mouths of brāhmaṇas, in the best field, and even in the uncultivated land.
न बलं न च सौन्दर्यं नैश्वर्यं न धनं सुतः
Neither strength, nor beauty, nor lordship, nor wealth is a son.
सेवते प्रकृतिं यो हि भक्त्या जन्मनि जन्मनि
He who serves Prakṛti with devotion, birth after birth,
श्रियं च निश्चलां पुत्रं पौत्रं भूमिं धनं प्रजाम्
Obtains unwavering prosperity, sons, grandsons, land, wealth, and progeny.
शिवं शिवस्वरूपं च शिवदं शिवकारणम्
The auspicious, the form of Śiva, the giver of auspiciousness, and the cause of auspiciousness.
तमीशं सेवते यो हि भक्त्या जन्मनि जन्मनि
He who serves that Lord with devotion, birth after birth,
विद्यां ज्ञानं सुकवितां पुत्रं पौत्रं परां श्रियम्
Obtains knowledge, wisdom, poetic skill, sons, grandsons, and supreme prosperity.
ब्रह्माणं भजते यो हि लभेत्सोऽपि प्रजां श्रियम्
He who worships Brahmā also attains progeny and prosperity.
यो नरो भजते भक्त्या दीननाथं दिनेश्वरम्
He who worships with devotion the Lord of the afflicted, the ruler of the poor,
गणेश्वरं यो भजते देवदेवं सनातनम् 1.14.
He who worships Gaṇeśvara, the eternal Lord of gods,
विघ्ननाशो भवेत्तस्य स्वप्ने जागरणेऽनिशम्
For him, the removal of obstacles occurs, in dreams, in waking, always.
ज्ञानं विद्यां सुकवितां लभते तद्वरेण च
He attains knowledge, learning, and poetic skill by that boon.
वरार्थी चेल्लभेत्सर्वं निर्वाणमन्यथा ध्रुवम्
If one desires a boon, he attains everything; otherwise, certainly liberation.
सर्वं तपः सर्वधर्मं यशः कीर्तिमनुत्तमाम्
All austerity, all righteousness, fame, and unsurpassed glory.
विडम्बितो विधात्राऽसौ मोहितो विष्णुमायया
He is mocked by the Creator, deluded by the māyā of Viṣṇu.
सा कृपां कुरुते यं च विष्णुमन्त्रं ददाति तम्
She shows compassion to whomever she gives the mantra of Viṣṇu.
इह लोके सुखं भुक्त्वा याति विष्णोः परं पदम्
Enjoying happiness in this world, he attains the supreme abode of Viṣṇu.
काले पश्चात्तेन सार्द्धं परं विष्णोः पदं लभेत्
In time, together with him, she attains the supreme abode of Viṣṇu.
ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादीनां सेव्यं बीजं परात्परम्
The seed, most supreme, worshipped by Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and others.
साकारं च निराकारं ज्योतिः स्वेच्छामयं विभुम् 1.14.
With form and without form, a light, sovereign, made of its own will, the all-pervading.
निर्लिप्तसाक्षिरूपं च भक्तानुग्रहविग्रहम्
Detached, as the witness, and taking form for the grace of devotees.
स सर्वं मन्यते तुच्छं सालोक्यादिचतुष्टयम्
He regards as insignificant all the four states, including Sālokya.
ऐश्वर्यं लोष्टतुल्यं च नश्वरं चैव मन्यते
He considers lordship as equal to a clod of earth, and as perishable.
जल बुद्बुदवद् बुद्ध्या चातितुच्छं न गण्यते
He does not count as anything, even in thought, what is utterly insignificant, like a bubble of water.
दास्यं विना न याचेत श्रीकृष्णस्य पदं परम्
Without servitude, one should not seek the supreme abode of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
परिपूर्णतमं ब्रह्म निषेव्यं सुस्थिरः सदा
Serving the most complete Brahman, one always remains steady.
श्वशुरस्य शतं पूर्वमुद्धृत्य चावलीलया
Having rescued a hundred of his father-in-law's line by playful grace,
उद्धरेत्कृष्णभक्तश्च गोलोकं याति निश्चितम्
A devotee of Kṛṣṇa rescues them and certainly goes to Goloka.
