The king gave that mantra and armor with utmost reverence.
I wish to hear the armor and that ten-syllable mantra.
Nārāyaṇa said: The armor must be kept secret; it is rare in the three worlds.
The ten-syllable mantra is: Oṃ hrīṃ śrīṃ klīṃ kālikāyai svāhā.
By reciting it one hundred thousand times, perfection of the mantra was attained in ancient times.
Having attained perfection with the armor, he came to Ayodhyā.
Nārada said: Now I wish to hear the armor; speak it to me, Lord.
Nārāyaṇa said: That which was once given by Nārāyaṇa, out of compassion, to the trident-bearer,
For the terrible destruction of Tripura and for the victory of Śiva,
And that which was given by Durvāsas to the great-souled Sucandra,
Oṃ hrīṃ śrīṃ klīṃ kālikāyai svāhā—may this protect my head.
Oṃ hrīṃ trilocane svāhā—may this always protect my nose.
May the syllable 'klīṃ', O Auspicious Kālikā, with svāhā, protect my pair of lips.
Om hrīṃ, for Kālikā, svāhā—may she always guard my pair of ears.
Om krīṃ, for Auspicious Kālikā, svāhā—may she always protect my chest.
Om hrīṃ, for Kālikā, svāhā—may she always guard my back.
Om hrīṃ klīṃ, for Muṇḍamālinī, svāhā—may she always protect my feet.
In the east, may Mahākālī protect; in the southeast, Raktadantikā.
In the west, may Śyāmā protect; in the northwest, may Caṇḍikā guard.
Above, may Lolajihvā protect; below, may Māyā and others always guard.
Thus, O child, I have told you the embodiment of all the multitude of mantras.
The king Sucandra, lord of the seven islands, by its power—
Pracetas and Lomaśa, indeed, became accomplished because of it.
If one possesses the perfected armor, he becomes lord of all accomplishments; certainly, even the sixteenth part of this armor's power is unattainable.
Without knowing this armor, one who worships Kāli, the mother of the world—
Thus ends the thirty-seventh chapter named 'Description of Bhadrakālī's Armor' in the third book, in the section of Ganapati, in the dialogue between Nārada and Nārāyaṇa, of the glorious Brahmavaivarta Mahāpurāṇa.
Nārāyaṇa said: Puṣkarākṣa arrived, accompanied by an army of three akṣauhiṇīs.
A great king, born of the solar dynasty, the noble son of Sucandra.
And around his neck was the enchanting armor of Mahālakṣmī.
Seeing him, all the brothers of the wise Raiṇukeya—
