को वाऽस्य मन्त्रस्याराध्यः किं फलं कवचस्य च
Who is the deity to be worshipped for this mantra, and what is the result of the armor?
नारायण उवाच गोलोकनाथः श्रीकृष्णो गोपगोपीश्वरः प्रभुः
Nārāyaṇa said: The Lord of Goloka, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, master of the cowherds and gopīs.
त्रैलोक्यविजयं नाम कवचं परमाद्भुतम्
The armor named 'Victory over the Three Worlds' is supremely wondrous.
मन्त्रं कल्पतरुं नाम सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
The mantra called 'Kalpataru' grants all desired fruits.
स्वयंप्रभानदीतीरे पारिजातवनान्तरे
On the bank of the self-luminous river, within the grove of Pārijāta trees.
महादेव उवाच पुत्राधिकोऽसि प्रेम्णा मे कवचग्रहणं कुरु
Mahādeva said: You are dearer to me than a son; accept the armor out of my love.
शृणु राम प्रवक्ष्यामि ब्रह्माण्डे परमाद्भुतम्
Listen, Rāma, I will declare to you something supremely wondrous in the universe.
श्रीकृष्णेन पुरा दत्तं गोलोके राधिकाश्रमे
It was formerly given by Śrī Kṛṣṇa in Goloka, at Rādhikā's hermitage.
अतिगुह्यतरं तत्त्वं सर्वमन्त्रौघविग्रहम् 3.31.
This truth is exceedingly secret, the embodiment of all collections of mantras.
यद्धृत्वा पठनाद्देवी मूलप्रकृतिरीश्वरी
By taking and reciting it, the goddess, the primal nature and sovereign, attained it.
यद्धृत्वाऽहं च जगतां संहर्त्ता सर्वतत्त्ववित्
By taking it, I became the destroyer of worlds and knower of all principles.
यद्धृत्वा पठनाद्ब्रह्मा ससृजे सृष्टिमुत्तमाम्
By taking and reciting it, Brahmā created the most excellent creation.
यद्धृत्वा कूर्मराजश्च शेषं धत्ते हि लीलया
Having taken it, King Kurma effortlessly supports Śeṣa.
यद्धृत्वा वरुणः सिद्धः कुबेरश्च धनेश्वरः
Having taken it, Varuṇa attains perfection, and Kubera becomes lord of wealth.
यद्धृत्वा भाति भुवने तेजोराशिः स्वयं रविः
Having taken it, the radiant Sun himself shines in the world as a mass of light.
अगस्त्यः सागरान्सप्त यद्धृत्वा पठनात्पपौ
Having taken it and recited, Agastya drank the seven oceans.
यद्धृत्वा पठनाद्देवी सर्वाधारा वसुन्धरा
Having taken it and recited, the goddess Vasundharā, the support of all, endures.
यद्धृत्वा जगतां साक्षी धर्मो धर्मभृतां वरः
Having taken it, Dharma, the witness of worlds and foremost among the upholders of righteousness, endures.
यद्धृत्वा जगतां लक्ष्मीरन्नदात्री परात्परा 3.31.
Having taken it, Lakṣmī, the supreme giver of food to the worlds, endures.
वेदाश्च धर्म्मवक्तारो यद्धृत्वा पठनाद् भृगो सनत्कुमारो भगवान्यद्धृत्वा ज्ञानिनां वरः
Having taken it and recited, the Vedas and the proclaimers of dharma endure; having taken it, the venerable Bhṛgu and Sanatkumāra, the foremost among the wise, endure.
दातव्यं कृष्णभक्ताय साधवे च महात्मने
It should be given to a devotee of Kṛṣṇa, and to a virtuous, great-souled person.
त्रैलोक्यविजयस्यास्य कवचस्य प्रजापतिः
This armor for victory over the three worlds was given by Prajāpati.
त्रैलोक्यविजयप्राप्तौ विनियोगः प्रकीर्त्तितः
The application for attaining victory over the three worlds has been declared.
प्रणवो मे शिरः पातु श्रीकृष्णाय नमः सदा
Let the praṇava always protect my head: 'Salutations to Śrī Kṛṣṇa.'
कृष्णेति पातु नेत्रे च कृष्ण स्वाहेति तारकम्
'Kṛṣṇa'—let it protect my eyes; 'Kṛṣṇa svāhā'—the liberating syllable.
ॐ गोविंदाय स्वाहेति नासिकां पातु सन्ततम्
'Om govindāya svāhā'—let it always protect my nose.
ॐ नमो गोपाङ्गनेशाय कर्णौ पातु सदा मम
'Om namo gopāṅganeśāya'—let it always protect my ears.
ॐ गोविन्दाय स्वाहेति दन्तौघं मे सदाऽवतु
'Om govindāya svāhā'—let it always protect my array of teeth.
ॐ श्रीकृष्णाय स्वाहेति जिह्विकां पातु मे सदा 3.31.
'Om śrīkṛṣṇāya svāhā'—let it always protect my tongue.
राधिकेशाय स्वाहेति कण्ठं पातु सदा मम
'Rādhikeśāya svāhā'—let it always protect my throat.
