नानाप्रकारवाद्यैश्च रुद्रैर्वा पार्षदैः सह
With various kinds of instruments, along with Rudras or their attendants,
अथ शक्तिधरो हृष्टो दृष्ट्वा ऽऽरात्पार्वतीं तदा
Then the mighty one, delighted, upon seeing Pārvatī at that time,
तं पद्माप्रमुखं देवीगणं च मुनिकामिनीम्
And that assembly of goddesses headed by Padmā, beloved of the sages,
कार्त्तिकेयं शिवा दृष्ट्वा क्रोडे कृत्वा चुचुम्ब च
Śivā, seeing Kārttikeya, took him on her lap and kissed him,
पार्वतीप्रमुखा देव्यस्तथा देवश्च शङ्करः
The goddesses led by Pārvatī, and also the god Śaṅkara,
कुमारः स गणैः सार्द्धमागत्य च शिवालयम्
The boy, together with the attendants, having arrived at the abode of Śiva,
रत्नसिंहासनस्थं च रत्नभूषणभूषितम्
Seated upon a jeweled throne, adorned with jeweled ornaments,
ईषद्धास्यं प्रसन्नास्यं भक्तानुग्रहकारकम्
With a gentle smile, a gracious face, bestowing favor upon devotees,
तं दृष्ट्वा जगतां नाथं भक्तिनम्रात्मकन्धरः
Seeing him, the lord of the worlds, with head bowed in devotion,
विधिं धर्मं च देवांश्च मुनीन्द्रांश्च मुदाऽन्वितान्
Brahmā, Dharma, the gods, and the foremost sages, filled with joy,
पृथक्संभाष्य सर्वांश्चाप्युवास कनकासने
After speaking separately with them all, he seated them upon golden seats.
नारायण उवाच रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये वासयामास षण्मुखम्
Nārāyaṇa said: On a splendid throne adorned with jewels, he seated Ṣaṇmukha.
नानाविधानि वाद्यानि कांस्यतालादिकानि च
Various kinds of musical instruments, including cymbals and others, were played.
वेदमन्त्राभिषिक्तैश्च सर्वर्तीर्थोदपूर्णकैः
With vessels filled from all sacred waters, consecrated by Vedic mantras,
सद्रत्नसारखचितं किरीटं मङ्गलाङ्गदे
A crown set with excellent jewels and auspicious ornaments,
वह्निशुद्धांशुके दिव्ये क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम्
A divine garment, purified by fire, produced from the ocean of milk,
ब्रह्मा ददौ यज्ञसूत्रं वेदा वै वेदमातरम्
Brahmā gave the sacred thread, and the Vedas, the mother of knowledge.
कमण्डलुं च ब्रह्मास्त्रं विद्यां वै वैरिमर्दिनीम्
He gave the water-pot, the Brahmāstra weapon, and knowledge that destroys enemies.
परं मृत्युञ्जयं ज्ञानं सर्वशास्त्रावबोधनम्
He bestowed supreme knowledge of conquering death and understanding of all scriptures.
योगतत्त्वं सिद्धितत्त्वं ब्रह्मज्ञानं सुदुर्लभम् संहारास्त्रविनिक्षेपं तत्संहारे ददौ शिवः
The essence of yoga, the essence of accomplishment, and the rare knowledge of Brahman, as well as the deposit of weapons for destruction—Śiva gave these for the act of destruction.
श्वेतच्छत्रं रत्नमालां ददौ तस्मै जलेश्वरः
The Lord of Waters gave him a white parasol and a garland of jewels.
मनोयायिरथं सूर्य्यः सन्नाहं च मनोरमम् नानाशस्त्राण्युपायानि सर्वे देवा ददुर्मुदा
The Sun gave a chariot that moves by the mind and splendid armor; all the gods joyfully gave various weapons and means.
कामशास्त्रं कामदेवो ददौ तस्मै मुदाऽन्वितः
Kāmadeva, filled with joy, gave him the science of love.
पार्वती सस्मिता हृष्टा परमानन्दमानसा
Pārvatī, smiling and delighted, her mind filled with supreme bliss,
बुद्धिं सुनिर्मलां शान्तिं तुष्टिं पुष्टिं क्षमां धृतिम्
Gave pure intellect, peace, contentment, nourishment, forgiveness, and steadfastness.
प्रजापतिर्देवसेनां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
The Lord of Creatures gave Devasenā, adorned with jeweled ornaments,
ददौ तस्मै वेदमन्त्रैर्विवाहविधिना स्वयम्
He gave her to him with Vedic mantras, by the rite of marriage, with his own hands.
अभिषिच्य कुमारं च सर्वे देवा ययुर्गृहम्
After anointing Kumāra, all the gods returned to their homes.
नारायणं च ब्रह्माणं धर्मं तुष्टाव शंकरः
Śaṃkara praised Nārāyaṇa, Brahmā, and Dharma.
प्रीत्या ययौ च शैलेन्द्रः सगणः शंकरार्चितः
With joy, the lord of the mountains departed, honored by Śaṃkara along with his attendants.
