आशिषं युयुजे विष्णुः शिशुं च शिशुमातरम्
Viṣṇu bestowed blessings upon the child and his mother.
ब्रह्मा ददौ स्वमुकुटं धर्मो वै रत्नभूषणम्
Brahmā gave his own crown, and Dharma presented a jeweled ornament.
तुष्टाव तं महादेवश्चात्यन्तं हृष्टमानसः
The great Lord Mahādeva, his heart overflowing with joy, offered praise to him.
अश्वानां च गजानां च सहस्राणि शतानि च
Hundreds of thousands of horses and elephants were given.
हिमालयश्च संतुष्टो हृष्टा देवाश्च तत्र वै
The Himālaya was satisfied, and the gods there were filled with joy.
ब्राह्मणान्भोजयामास कारयामास मङ्गलम्
He fed the brāhmaṇas and arranged for auspicious rites.
शनिं संलज्जितं दृष्ट्वा पार्वती कोपशालिनी
Seeing Śani abashed, Pārvatī, filled with anger, spoke.
दृष्ट्वा शप्तं शनिं सूर्य्यः कश्यपश्च यमस्तथा
Seeing Śani cursed, Sūrya, Kaśyapa, and Yama likewise reacted.
रक्ताक्षास्ते रक्तमुखाः कोपप्रस्फुरिताधराः
Their eyes were red, their faces flushed, and their lips quivered with wrath.
ब्रह्मा तान्बोधयामास विष्णुना प्रेरितः सुरैः
Prompted by Viṣṇu and the gods, Brahmā sought to pacify them.
ब्रह्माणमूचुस्ते तत्र क्रमेण समयोचितम्
There, they spoke to Brahmā in proper sequence and manner.
कश्यप उवाच बालं ददर्श यत्नेन तस्य वै मातुराज्ञया
Kaśyapa said: By the command of his mother, he carefully beheld the child.
श्रीसूर्य्य उवाच यत्पुत्रोऽतिप्रयत्नेन ह्यपश्यत्पार्वतीसुतम्
Sūrya said: My son, with great effort, gazed upon Pārvatī's child.
यथा निरपराधेन मत्पुत्रं सा शशाप ह
How, though my son was blameless, she pronounced a curse upon him.
यम उवाच वयं शपामः कोऽधर्मो जिघांसोश्च विहिंसने
Yama said: If we curse, what unrighteousness or intent to harm is there?
ब्रह्मोवाच सर्वेषां वचनेनैव क्षन्तुमर्हन्तु साधवः
Brahmā said: By the words of all, the virtuous ought to forgive.
दुर्गे दत्त्वा त्वमाज्ञां च पुत्रदर्शनहेतवे
In the fortress, having given you permission for the sake of seeing your son,
इत्युक्त्वा शनिमादाय बोधयित्वा च पार्वतीम्
Having said this, he took Śani and awakened Pārvatī.
बभूव पार्वती तुष्टा ब्रह्मणो वचनान्मुने
Pārvatī became pleased, O sage, by the words of Brahmā.
उवाच पार्वती तत्र सन्तुष्टा तं शनैश्चरम्
There, Pārvatī, satisfied, spoke to Śanaiścara.
पार्वत्युवाच चिरजीवी च योगीन्द्रो हरिभक्तस्य का विपत्
Pārvatī said: 'A long-lived yogi—what misfortune can befall a devotee of Hari?'
अद्यप्रभृति निर्विघ्ना हरौ भक्तिर्दृढाऽस्तु ते
From today onward, may your devotion to Hari be firm and unobstructed.
इत्युक्त्वा पार्वती तुष्टा बालं धृत्वा च वक्षसि
Having said this, Pārvatī, pleased, held the boy to her breast.
शनिर्जगाम देवानां समीपं हृष्टमानसः
Śani went to the assembly of the gods, his mind delighted.
नारायण उवाच पूजयामास तं बालमुपहारैरनुत्तमैः
Nārāyaṇa said: He worshipped the boy with the finest offerings.
सर्वाग्रे तव पूजा च मया दत्ता सुरोत्तम
Above all, your worship was granted by me, O best of gods.
वनमालां ददौ तस्मै ब्रह्मज्ञानं च मुक्तिदम्
He gave him a garland of forest flowers and the knowledge of Brahman, which grants liberation.
ददौ द्रव्याणि चारूणि चोपचारांश्च षोडश
He gave beautiful substances and sixteen kinds of ritual offerings.
विघ्नेशश्च गणेशश्च हेरम्बश्च गजाननः
Vighneśa, Gaṇeśa, Heramba, and Gajānana—
एतान्यष्टौ च नामानि सर्वसिद्धिप्रदानि च
These eight names grant all accomplishments.
