विष्णुः प्रमुदितस्तत्र वादयामास दुन्दुभिम् वेदांश्च पाठयामास पुराणानि च नारद
There, Vishnu, delighted, sounded the drum, and, O Narada, recited the Vedas and the Puranas.
मुनीन्द्रानानयामास पूजयामास तान्मुदा सार्द्धं देवश्चै देवीभिर्ददौ तस्मै शुभाशिषः
He brought the great sages and joyfully honored them; together with the gods and goddesses, he bestowed auspicious blessings upon him.
विष्णुरुवाच पराक्रमे मया तुल्यः सर्वसिद्धीश्वरो भव
Vishnu said: In valor, be equal to me; become the lord of all accomplishments.
ब्रह्मोवाच सर्वेषां पुरतः पूजा भवत्वतिसुदुर्लभा
Brahma said: Let worship before all, which is exceedingly rare, be yours.
धर्म्म उवाच सर्वज्ञश्च दयायुक्तो हरिभक्तो हरेः समः
Dharma said: Be all-knowing, endowed with compassion, devoted to Hari, and equal to Hari.
महादेव उवाच विद्यावान्पुण्यवाञ्छान्तो दान्तश्च प्राणवल्लभ
Mahadeva said: Be learned, virtuous, peaceful, self-controlled, and dear to life.
लक्ष्मीरुवाच पतिव्रता मया तुल्या शान्ता कान्ता मनोहरा
Lakshmi said: May your wife be devoted, equal to me, tranquil, lovely, and enchanting.
सरस्वत्युवाच स्मृतिर्विवेचनाशक्तिर्भवत्वतितरां सुत
Sarasvati said: May you, my child, possess memory and the power of discernment in abundance.
सावित्र्युवाच मन्मन्त्रजपशीलश्च प्रवरो वेदवादिनाम्
Savitri said: Be skilled in reciting my mantra, and foremost among those who speak the Vedas.
हिमालय उवाच श्रीकृष्णतुल्यो गुणवान्भव कृष्णपरायणः
Himalaya said: Be virtuous like Shri Krishna, and devoted to Krishna.
मेनकोवाच श्रीयुक्तः श्रीपतिसमो धर्म्मे धर्मसमो भव
Menaka said: Be endowed with fortune, equal to the lord of fortune, and in righteousness, equal to Dharma.
वसुन्धरोवाच निर्विघ्नो विघ्ननिघ्नश्च भव वत्स शुभाश्रयः
Vasundhara said: Be free from obstacles, remover of obstacles, and, my child, have auspicious refuge.
पार्वत्युवाच मृत्युञ्जयश्च भगवान्भवत्वतिविशारदः
Parvati said: May you be the blessed conqueror of death, exceedingly wise.
ऋषयो मुनयः सिद्धाः सर्वे युयुजुराशिषः
All the sages, ascetics, and accomplished ones bestowed blessings.
सर्वं ते कथितं वत्स सर्वमङ्गलमङ्गलम्
All has been told to you, my child, the auspicious among all auspicious things.
इमं सुमंगलाध्यक्षं यः शृणोति सुखं यतः
Whoever hears this account of the chief of auspiciousness attains happiness thereby.
अपुत्रो लभते पुत्रमधनो लभते धनम्
The childless obtains a son; the poor acquires wealth.
भार्य्यार्थी लभते भार्य्यां प्रजार्थी लभते प्रजाम्
One seeking a wife obtains a wife; one desiring offspring obtains children.
भ्रष्टपुत्रं नष्टधनं प्रोषितं च प्रियं लभेत्
He regains a lost son, lost wealth, and a beloved who has departed.
यत्पुण्यं लभते मर्त्यो गणेशाख्यानकश्रुतौ
Whatever merit a mortal gains by hearing the narration of Ganesha,
अयं च मङ्गलाध्यायो यस्य गेहं च तिष्ठति
And this auspicious chapter, wherever it remains in a house,
यात्राकाले च पुण्याहे यः शृणोति समाहितः
Whoever listens attentively during a journey or on a holy day,
नारायण उवाच देवैश्च मुनिभिः सार्द्धमवसत्तत्र संसदि
Narayana said: Along with the gods and sages, he resided there in the assembly.
दक्षिणे शंकरस्तस्य वामे ब्रह्मा प्रजापतिः
On his right was Shankara; on his left, Brahma, the lord of creatures.
तथा धर्मसमीपे च सूर्य्यः शक्रः कलानिधिः
Nearby were Dharma, Surya, Shakra, and the moon.
ननर्त्त नर्त्तकश्रेणी जगुर्गन्धर्व किन्नराः
A troupe of dancers performed; Gandharvas and Kinnaras sang.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे तत्र द्रष्टुं शङ्करनन्दनम्
Meanwhile, there, to see the son of Shankara,
अत्यन्तनम्रवदन ईषन्मुद्रितलोचनः
With a face extremely humble and eyes slightly smiling,
तपःफलाशी तेजस्वी ज्वलदग्निशिखोपमः
Desiring the fruit of austerity, radiant, resembling a blazing flame,
प्रणम्य विष्णुं ब्रह्माणं शिवं धर्मं रविं सुरान्
He bowed to Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, Dharma, Ravi, and the gods.
