ब्रह्मादिस्तम्बपर्यन्तं सर्वं नश्वरमेव च
Everything from Brahmā down to a blade of grass is indeed perishable.
ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादीनामहमाद्या परात्परा
Among Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and others, I am the first, the supreme beyond the supreme.
नित्या ऽनित्या सर्वरूपा सर्वकारणकारणम्
She is both eternal and non-eternal, of all forms, the cause of all causes.
पुण्ये वृन्दावने रम्ये गोलोके रासमण्डले
In the holy and beautiful Vṛndāvana, in Goloka, within the circle of the rāsa dance.
सावित्री वेदमाताऽहं ब्रह्माणी ब्रह्मलोकतः
I am Sāvitrī, the mother of the Vedas, and Brahmāṇī from the world of Brahmā.
नानाविधाऽहं कलया मायया सर्वयोषितः
By my various manifestations and by māyā, I am all women.
भ्रूभंगलीलया सृष्टो येन पुंसा महान्विराट्
By the playful movement of his eyebrow, the great Virāṭ was created by that Man.
असंख्यानि च तान्येव कृत्रिमाणि च मायया 2.65.
Those are countless, and also artificial by māyā.
सप्तसागरसंयुक्ता सप्तद्वीपा वसुन्धरा
The earth, joined with seven oceans and seven continents.
एवं विश्वं बहुविधं ब्रह्माण्डं ब्रह्मणा कृतम्
Thus, the diverse universe, the cosmic egg, was made by Brahmā.
सर्वेषामीश्वरः कृष्ण इति ज्ञानं परात्परम्
The supreme knowledge is that Kṛṣṇa is the Lord of all.
देवानां चैव सर्वेषां सारः कृष्ण इति स्मृतः
Kṛṣṇa is remembered as the essence of all the gods.
पवित्राणि च तीर्थानि तद्भक्तस्पर्शवायुना
Holy places and sacred waters are purified by the touch of the wind from his devotee.
मन्त्रग्रहणमात्रेण नरो नारायणो भवेत्
By merely reciting the mantra, a man becomes Nārāyaṇa.
मातामहानां शतकं पितॄणां च सहस्रकम्
A hundred of the maternal ancestors and a thousand of the paternal ancestors.
इदं ज्ञानं सारभूतं कथितं ते नराधिप
This essential knowledge has been told to you, O king.
अहं यमनुगृह्णामि तस्मै दास्यामि निर्मलाम् 2.65.
Whomever I favor, to him I will grant purity.
करोमि वञ्चनां यं यं तेभ्यो दास्यामि सम्पदम्
Whomever I deceive, from them I withhold prosperity.
इति ते कथितं ज्ञानं गच्छ वत्स यथासुखम्
Thus, this knowledge has been told to you; go, child, as you please.
राजा संप्राप्य राज्यं च नत्वा तां प्रययौ गृहम्
The king, having obtained his kingdom and bowed to her, returned home.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते महापुराणे द्वितीये प्रकृतिखण्डे नारदनारायणसंवादे दुर्गोपाख्याने प्रकृतिसुरथसंवादे ज्ञानकथनं नाम पञ्चषष्टितमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the sixty-fifth chapter, named 'The Teaching of Knowledge,' in the dialogue between Prakriti and Suratha, within the narration of Durga, in the conversation between Narada and Narayana, in the Prakriti Khanda of the great Brahmavaivarta Purana.
नारद उवाच प्रकृतेः कवचं स्तोत्रं ब्रूहि मे मुनिसत्तम
Narada said: O best of sages, tell me the hymn and protective mantra (kavaca) of Prakriti.
नारायण उवाच संपूज्य मधुमासे च संप्रीते रासमण्डले
Narayana said: Having worshipped in the month of Madhu, with devotion, in the circle of the rasa dance,
तत्रैव काले सा दुर्गा ब्रह्मणा प्राणसङ्कटे
At that very time, O sage, when Brahma was in mortal danger,
पुरा त्रिपुरयुद्धे च महाघोरतरे मुने
And formerly, in the exceedingly terrible battle of Tripura,
शक्रेण सर्वदेवैश्च घोरे च प्राणसङ्कटे
When Indra and all the gods were in dire peril of life,
संस्तुता पूजिता सा च कल्पे कल्पे परात्परा सुखदं मोक्षदं सारं भवसन्तारकारणम्
She, the supreme among the supreme, was praised and worshipped in every age; she is the giver of happiness and liberation, the essence, and the cause of crossing over worldly existence.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच त्वमेवाद्या सृष्टिविधौ स्वेच्छया त्रिगुणात्मिका
Sri Krishna said: You alone are the first, the origin of creation, by your own will, embodying the three gunas.
कार्य्यार्थे सगुणा त्वं च वस्तुतो निर्गुणा स्वयम्
For the sake of action, you possess qualities, but in truth, you are inherently without qualities.
तेजस्स्वरूपा परमा भक्तानुग्रविग्रहा
You are of the nature of radiance, supreme, and the embodiment of grace toward devotees.
