From the breath of my brother, the guru of the gods, Brihaspati—
Yet, even so, he cursed him out of fear of violating righteousness.
Ah, Atri's unrighteous son is greedy for another's wife and deceitful.
The sons of Brahma who are devoted to righteousness, as well as Vaishnava Brahmanas.
Those Brāhmaṇas who are sāttvika are like the gods, and those who are rājasika are likewise.
The Brāhmaṇas who are devoted to their own duty and dedicated to Nārāyaṇa.
Brāhmaṇas who seek liberation, who are devoted to Viṣṇu, and who desire to serve.
The own duty of Brāhmaṇas is the worship of Kṛṣṇa, which is desired.
Those Brāhmaṇas who are Vaiṣṇavas and independent attain the supreme state.
Among the classes, Brāhmaṇas are the best, especially if they are virtuous Vaiṣṇavas.
Whether mature or immature, those who are Vaiṣṇavas and virtuous are indeed so.
Just as dry grass is always reduced to ashes in fire,
When the Viṣṇu-mantra is placed into one’s ear by the mouth of the guru,
It liberates a hundred ancestors of the father’s side and a hundred of the mother’s side.
In Gayā, by offering piṇḍa, those who give piṇḍa and those who partake of piṇḍa—
By merely receiving the mantra, a person becomes liberated while living.
Indeed, the holy places, including the Gaṅgā and others in Bhārata, purify.
As many sins as arise for sinners at the holy places—
By the dust of the feet of those who worship Kṛṣṇa’s mantra—
The wind, the air, the fire, and the sun—all purify.
I, Brahmā, Śeṣa, Dharma, and the witness of actions—
The result for all in Bhārata is according to their actions.
The Lord, who cherishes his devotees, destroys their previous karma.
Among the radiant ones, the foremost is the Vaishnava, descendant of Bhrigu.
Even Sudarshana, though powerful, is not capable of defeating Shukra.
Worship the true, supreme Brahman—Krishna, the Self, the Lord.
Brother, I will give you his mantra, the supreme wish-fulfilling tree.
From Brahma down to a blade of grass, all is perishable like a bubble of water; so long as there is desire for enjoyment, for pleasure with women, such desires exist among men here.
Until one receives the mantra of Hari from the lotus mouth of the guru,
Vaishnavas do not desire the status of Indra or immortality.
