Having spoken thus, the teacher repeatedly entered the house.
Again and again he fell unconscious, and then regained his senses.
Then, in the meantime, the great knower was awakened by the wise.
That teacher was honored with hospitality by Marutvat.
Hearing the words of Brihaspati, his eyes became red like a lotus smeared with mud.
Mahendra said: 'Extremely skillful and capable is he, fit for the attainment of truth.'
Wherever the sinful Chandra is, together with Tara, by my measure—
Abandon worry, O greatly fortunate one; all will turn out well.
Having said this, Shunashira dispatched a thousand messengers.
Those messengers wandered for a hundred years, even in deserted places.
And they found Chandra in the house of Shukra, free from fever.
Hearing this, Shunashira, with bowed head, approached Brihaspati.
Mahendra said: 'Abandon fear, O greatly fortunate one; all will turn out well.'
Shukra has not been conquered by you, nor have I conquered the son of Diti.
Go quickly to Brahmaloka together with us.
Having spoken thus, Mahendra, afflicted, went with his teacher.
There, seeing Brahma, he bowed together with his teacher.
Hearing Mahendra’s words, the lotus-born laughed.
Brahma spoke: To him, the eternal Krishna, the teacher, gives suffering.
I am the creator, and Vishnu, the eternal, is the protector of creation.
Dharma is the constant witness of all and the cause of everything.
Bṛhaspati, Utathya, and Saṃvarta, who has conquered his senses.
To Saṃvarta, the youngest, the teacher gave nothing.
To Utathya, the middle one, he gave his wife, Gurvi.
Whoever, driven by desire, takes his brother’s wife, whether she is willing or not,
He goes to Kumbhīpāka until the moon and sun endure.
After crossing over, the sinner is born as a worm in excrement.
Then he becomes a great sinner for a thousand million years.
He is born as a vulture for a thousand million births, and as a dog for a hundred births.
Whoever, though strong, does not give inheritance to the weak,
