श्रीमहेश्वर उवाच पुरा मह्यं निगदितं गोलोके परमात्मनः
Sri Maheshvara said: Long ago, it was spoken to me in Goloka by the Supreme Self.
अतिगुह्यं परं तत्त्वं सर्वमन्त्रौघविग्रहम्
It is the most secret, supreme truth, the embodiment of all collections of mantras.
यद्धृत्वाऽहं तव स्वामी सर्वमाता सुरेश्वरी
Having taken this, I became your master, and the supreme mother, the ruler of the gods.
यद्धृत्वा परमात्मा च निर्गुणं प्रकृतेः परः
Having taken this, the Supreme Self, beyond qualities and transcending nature, exists.
विष्णुः पाता च यद्धृत्वा संप्राप्तस्सिन्धुकन्यकाम्
Having taken this, Viṣṇu, the protector, attained the daughter of the ocean.
प्रत्येकं लोमकूपेषु ब्रह्माण्डानि महान्विराट्
In each pore of the skin, there are countless universes, vast and immense.
यद्धारणाच्च पठनाद्धर्म्मः साक्षी च सर्वतः
By holding and reciting this, dharma stands as witness everywhere.
इन्द्रः सुराणामीशश्च पठनाद्धारणाद्विभुः
Indra, lord of the gods, is great through recitation and holding of this.
श्रीमांश्चन्द्रश्च यद्धृत्वा राजसूयं चकार सः 2.56.
Having taken this, the glorious Moon performed the royal sacrifice.
यद्धृत्वा पठनादग्निर्जगत्पूतं करोति च
Having taken and recited this, Agni purifies the world.
यद्धृत्वा च स्वतन्त्रो हि मृत्युश्चरति जन्तुषु
Having taken this, Death moves independently among creatures.
जामदग्न्यश्च रामश्च पठनाद्धारणात्प्रभू
Jāmadagnya and Rāma became powerful through recitation and holding of this.
सनत्कुमारो भगवान्यद्धृत्वा ज्ञानिनां गुरुः
Having taken this, the blessed Sanatkumāra became the guru of the wise.
यद्धृत्वा पठनात्सिद्धो वसिष्ठो ब्रह्मपुत्रकः
Having taken and recited this, Vasiṣṭha, son of Brahmā, attained perfection.
यस्माद्भृगुश्च मां द्वेष्टि कूर्म्मः शेषं बिभर्त्ति च
Because of this, Bhṛgu hates me, and the tortoise bears Śeṣa.
ईशानो दिक्पतिश्चैव यमः शास्ता यतः शिवे
Īśāna is the lord of the directions, and Yama is the ruler because of Śiva.
यद्धृत्वा गौतमः सिद्धः कश्यपश्च प्रजापतिः
Having taken this, Gautama became accomplished, and Kaśyapa became the progenitor.
पुरा स्वजायाविच्छेदे दुर्वासा मुनिपुङ्गवः
Long ago, at the separation from his own wife, Durvāsā, the foremost sage, acted thus.
पुरा नलश्च संप्राप दमयन्तीं यतः सतीम् 2.56.
Long ago, Nala attained Damayantī, the virtuous woman, because of this.
वृषो वहति मां दुर्गे यतो हि गरुडो हरिम्
The bull carries me in the difficult place, just as Garuḍa carries Hari.
यद्धृत्वा च महालक्ष्मीः प्रदात्री सर्वसम्पदाम्
Having taken this, Mahālakṣmī, the bestower of all wealth, grants prosperity.
सावित्री वेदमाता च यतः सिद्धिमवाप्नुयात्
Sāvitrī, the mother of the Vedas, attains perfection by means of this.
यद्धृत्वा तुलसी पूता गङ्गा भुवनपावनी
Having taken this, Tulasī is purified, and Gaṅgā becomes the purifier of the worlds.
यद्धृत्वा मनसादेवी सिद्धा वै विश्वपूजिता
Having taken this, the goddess of the mind becomes accomplished and is worshipped by the universe.
पतिव्रता च यद्धृत्वा लोपामुद्राऽप्यरुन्धती
Having taken this, even the devoted wives Lopāmudrā and Arundhatī,
प्रियव्रतोत्तानपादौ सुतौ प्राप च तत्प्रसूः
The mother obtained sons Priyavrata and Uttānapāda by its grace.
एवं सर्वे सिद्धगणाः सर्वैश्वर्य्यमवाप्नुयुः
Thus, all groups of perfected beings attain all sovereignty.
ऋषिच्छन्दोऽस्य गायत्री देवी रासेश्वरी स्वयम्
Its meter is Ṛṣi-chandas, Gāyatrī; the goddess is Rāseśvarī herself.
शिष्याय कृष्णभक्ताय ब्राह्मणाय प्रकाशयेत् 2.56.
It should be revealed to a disciple, a devotee of Kṛṣṇa, or a brāhmaṇa.
राज्यं देयं शिरो देयं न देयं कवचं प्रिये
One may give away a kingdom or one's head, but never this armor, dear one.
