Pleased by their hymn, after bathing and worshipping her in purity—
Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: Today your words are clearly full of deceit, O beautiful-faced one.
O Kṛṣṇa, you are always my life, my very soul.
Therefore, O Mother of the World, all your words are false.
Our words are true; what I say, that you have heard.
Unable to protect you, my life departs without you.
With qualities, you are by your power; yet you are yourself without qualities.

Nārāyaṇa, by you as Lakṣmī, is the lord and protector of the world.
Śeṣa sustains creation, having placed you upon his head, and supports the earth.
And all the world, endowed with power, is lifeless without you.
Just as a potter, possessing strength, always makes a pot from clay,
Without you, I am inert and powerless everywhere.
You are the burning power in fire; fire is powerless without you.
