चतुर्दशेन्द्रावच्छिन्नं ब्रह्मणो दिनमुच्यते
The day of Brahma is said to be bounded by fourteen Indras.
कालरात्रिश्च सा ज्ञेया वेदेषु परिकीर्त्तिता
That is known as the Night of Time, as described in the Vedas.
सप्तकल्पे चिरंजीवी मार्कण्डेयो महातपाः
In seven cycles, Markandeya, the great ascetic, lives for a long time.
उत्थितेनैव सहसा सङ्कर्षणमुखाग्निना
He arose suddenly with the fire from the mouth of Sankarshana.
ब्रह्मरात्रिव्यतीते तु पुनश्च ससृजे विधिः 2.54.
After the passing of Brahma's night, the Creator again produced creation.
देवाश्च मनवश्चैव तत्र दग्धा नरादयः
There, the gods, Manus, and Narada were burned.
वर्षं द्वादशमासैश्च ब्रह्मसम्बन्धि चैव हि दैनंदिनस्तु प्रलयो वेदेषु परिकीर्त्तितः
A year, consisting of twelve months, is related to Brahma; the daily dissolution is described in the Vedas.
मोहरात्रिश्च सा प्रोक्ता वेदविद्भिः पुरातनैः
That is called the Night of Delusion by ancient knowers of the Vedas.
आदित्या वसवो रुद्रा मनवो मानवादयः
The Adityas, Vasus, Rudras, Manus, and their descendants.
मार्कण्डेयो लोमशश्च पेचकश्चिरजीविनः
Markandeya, Lomasha, and Pecaka are long-lived.
नाडीजंघो बकश्चैव सर्वे नष्टाश्च तत्र वै
Nadijangha and Baka, all of them, were destroyed there.
ब्रह्मलोकं ययुः सर्वे ब्रह्मपुत्रादयस्तथा
All the sons of Brahma and others went to Brahmaloka.
एवं शताब्दपर्य्यन्तं परमायुः प्रजापतेः
Thus, the supreme lifespan of the progenitor extends up to a hundred years.
देवमाता च सावित्री वेदा धर्म्मादयस्तथा 2.54.
The mother of the gods, Savitri, the Vedas, Dharma, and others likewise.
नारायणे प्रलीनाश्च विश्वस्था वैष्णवास्तथा
Those established in the world, as well as the Vaiṣṇavas, are dissolved into Nārāyaṇa.
मृत्युञ्जये महादेवे प्रलीनः स तमो गुणः
The quality of darkness is dissolved into Mṛtyuñjaya, the great god.
नारायणस्य शम्भोश्च महाविष्णोश्च निश्चितम्
Certainly, Nārāyaṇa, Śambhu, and Mahāviṣṇu are one.
कृष्णो निमेषरहितो निर्गुणः प्रकृते परः
Kṛṣṇa is beyond the blink of an eye, without qualities, and transcends nature.
निर्गुणस्य च नित्यस्य चाद्यन्तरहितस्य च
Of the one who is without qualities, eternal, and free from beginning and end,
षष्टिदण्डात्मिकास्तस्या वासरश्च प्रकीर्त्तितः
Her day is said to consist of sixty daṇḍas.
एवं गते शताब्दे च श्रीकृष्णे प्रकृतेर्लयः
When a hundred years have thus passed, Śrī Kṛṣṇa merges nature.
सर्वान्संहृत्य सा चैका महाविष्णोः प्रसूश्च या
Having withdrawn all, she alone remains, who is the source of Mahāviṣṇu.
बुद्ध्यधिष्ठातृदेवी च श्रीकृष्णस्यैव निर्गुणाम् 2.54.
And the goddess who presides over intellect is also the qualityless one of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
प्राणाधिष्ठातृदेवीं च प्रेम्णा प्राणाधिकां वराम्
And the goddess who presides over life-breath, most excellent and dearer than life itself.
नारायणश्च शम्भुश्च संहृत्य स्वगणान्बहून्
Nārāyaṇa and Śambhu, having withdrawn their many attendants,
गोपा गोप्यश्च गावश्च सवत्साश्च नराधिप । महाविष्णौ विलीनाश्च ते सर्वे क्षुद्रविष्णवः
The cowherds, the cowherd women, the cows, and the calves, O king, all those minor Viṣṇus are dissolved into Mahāviṣṇu.
प्रकृतिर्योगनिद्रा च श्रीकृष्णनयनद्वये
Nature and yogic sleep are in the two eyes of Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
प्रकृतेर्वासरो यावन्मितः कालः प्रकीर्त्तितः
The measured time of nature's day is declared.
अमूल्य रत्नतल्पे च वह्निशुद्धांशुकार्चिते
On a priceless jeweled couch, adorned with garments purified by fire,
पुनः प्रजागरे तस्य सर्वसृष्टिर्भवेत्पुनः
When he awakens again, all creation arises again.
