नृपस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा जहास मुनिपुङ्गवः
Hearing the king's words, the foremost of sages laughed.
अतिथिरुवाच कश्यपस्य सुताः सर्वे प्राप्ता देवत्वमीप्सितम्
The guest said: All the sons of Kaśyapa attained the desired status of divinity.
तेषु त्वष्टा महाज्ञानी चकार परमं तपः
Among them, Tvaṣṭṛ, the great knower, performed supreme austerity.
सिषेवे ब्राह्मणार्थं च देवदेवं हरिं परम्
He worshipped the supreme Lord Hari for the sake of the brāhmaṇas.
ततो बभूव तेजस्वी विश्वरूपस्तपोधनः
Then Viśvarūpa, rich in austerity and radiant, was born.
मातामहेभ्यो दैत्येभ्यो दत्तवन्तं घृताहुतिम्
He offered oblations of ghee to the maternal uncles, the Daityas.
विश्वरूपस्य तनयो विरूपो मत्पिता नृप
O King, Virūpa is the son of Viśvarūpa and my father.
महादेवो मम गुरुर्विद्याज्ञानमनुप्रदः
Mahādeva is my teacher, the giver of knowledge and wisdom.
तच्चिन्तयामि पादाब्जं न मे वाञ्छा ऽस्ति सम्पदि 2.53.
I contemplate his lotus feet; I have no desire for prosperity.
तेन दत्तं न गृह्णामि विना तत्सेवनं शुभम्
I do not accept what is given by him unless it is accompanied by his auspicious service.
भक्तिव्यवहितं मिथ्याभ्रममेव तु नश्वरम्
That which is devoid of devotion is merely false delusion and perishable.
न मन्ये जलरेखेति नृपत्वं केन गण्यते
I do not consider kingship to be of any value, like a line drawn on water.
लालसां विष्णुभक्तिं ते संप्रापयितुमागतः
I have come to grant you the longing for devotion to Viṣṇu.
समुद्धृतश्च पतितो घोरे निम्ने भवार्णवे
One who has fallen into the dreadful deep ocean of worldly existence is lifted out.
ते पुनन्त्युरुकालेन कृष्णभक्ताश्च दर्शनात्
Those devoted to Kṛṣṇa purify others even by their sight, in due course of time.
पुत्रे न्यस्य प्रियां साध्वीं गच्छ वत्स वनं द्रुतम्
Entrust your beloved wife to your son, dear one, and quickly go to the forest.
श्रीकृष्णं भज राधेशं परमात्मा नमीश्वरम्
Worship Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of Rādhā, the Supreme Self, the revered Lord.
दिक्पालाश्च दिगीशाश्च भ्रमन्त्येवास्य मायया ।। 2.53.
The guardians of the directions and the lords of the quarters wander about by his māyā.
निशापतिः शशी शश्वत्सस्यसुस्निग्धताकरः
The lord of night, the moon, is always the source of gentle nourishment for crops.
काले वर्षति शक्रश्च दहत्यग्निश्च कालतः
At the proper time, Indra sends rain and Agni burns according to time.
कालः संहरते काले काले सृजति पाति च
Time withdraws at the appointed time; at the proper time it creates and sustains.
स्वदेशे पर्वताश्चैव स्वाः पातालाः स्वदेशतः
Mountains remain in their own regions, and the heavens and netherworlds in theirs.
शैलसागरसंयुक्ताः पातालाः सप्त चैव हि
The seven netherworlds are indeed joined with mountains and oceans.
सन्त्येव प्रतिविध्यण्डे ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवादयः
Indeed, in every universe exist Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and others.
आपातालाद्ब्रह्मलोकपर्य्यन्तं डिम्बरूपकम्
From Pātāla up to Brahmaloka, it is in the form of an egg.
नाभिपद्मे विराड्विष्णोः क्षुद्रस्य जलशायिनः
In the navel-lotus of the cosmic Viṣṇu, the small one who lies on the waters.
एवं सोऽपि शयानस्स्याज्जलतल्पे सुविप्लुते
In this way, he too lies upon the vast bed of water.
कालभीतश्च कालेशं कृष्णमात्मानमीश्वरम् ।। । महाविष्णोर्लोमकूपसाधारः सोऽस्ति विस्तृते 2.53.
Fearing time, he contemplates Kṛṣṇa, the Lord, his own Self, who is the master of time; he is common to the pores of Mahāviṣṇu's body, and is vast.
महाविष्णोर्गात्रलोम्नां ब्रह्माण्डानां च भूमिप
O King, the universes arise from the body hairs of Mahāviṣṇu.
महाविष्णुः प्राकृतिकः सोऽपि डिम्बोद्भवः सदा
That Mahāviṣṇu, born from the egg, is also of material nature.
