श्रीपार्वत्युवाच पाञ्चरात्रादिकं नीतिशास्त्रयोगं च योगिनाम्
Sri Parvati said: The Pancaratra and other treatises, the discipline of yoga for yogis.
सिद्धानां सिद्धिशास्त्रं च नानातन्त्रं मनोहरम् 2.48.
The treatise of perfection for the accomplished, and various enchanting tantras.
श्रुतौ श्रुतं प्रशस्तं च राधायाश्च समासतः
In the scriptures, I have heard the praised account of Radha in brief.
आगमाख्यानकाले च भवता स्वीकृतं पुरा
And during the narration of the Agamas, it was formerly accepted by you.
तदुत्पतिं च तद्ध्यानं नाम्नो माहात्म्यमुत्तमम्
Her origin, her meditation, and the supreme greatness of her name.
आराधनविधानं च पूजापद्धतिमीप्सिताम्
The method of worship and the desired procedure for her puja.
कथं न कथितं पूर्वमागमाख्यानकालतः
Why was it not told earlier during the narration of the Agamas?
पञ्चवक्त्रश्च भगवाञ्छुष्ककण्ठोष्ठतालुकः
The blessed one with five faces, with dry throat, lips, and palate.
सस्मार कृष्णं ध्यानेनाभीष्टदेवं कृपानिधिम्
She remembered Krishna, her chosen deity and ocean of compassion, through meditation.
निषिद्धोऽहं भगवता कृष्णेन परमात्मना
I have been forbidden by the Blessed Lord Krishna, the Supreme Self.
मदर्द्धांगस्वरूपा त्वं न मद्भिन्ना स्वरूपतः 2.48.
You are of my own half-body form; in essence, you are not different from me.
मदिष्टदेवकान्ताया राधायाश्चरितं सति
Of Radha, beloved of my chosen Lord, her deeds are indeed true.
जानामि तदहं दुर्गे सर्वं पूर्वापरं वरम्
I know all that, O Durga, everything—past and future—most excellent.
न तत्सनत्कुमारश्च न च धर्मः सनातनः
Neither Sanatkumara nor the eternal Dharma knows that.
मत्तो बलवती त्वं च प्राणांस्त्यक्तुं समुद्यता
You are stronger than I, Durga, and are prepared to give up your life.
शृणु दुर्गे प्रवक्ष्यामि रहस्यं परमाद्भुतम्
Listen, O Durga, I shall tell you a most wondrous secret.
पुरा वृन्दावने रम्ये गोलोके रासमण्डले
Long ago, in beautiful Vrindavana, in Goloka, within the circle of the rasa dance—
रत्नसिंहासने रम्ये तस्थौ तत्र जगत्पतिः
There, upon a splendid jeweled throne, the Lord of the universe was seated.
रिरंसोस्तस्य जगतां पत्युस्तन्मल्लिकावने
Desiring to enjoy, the Lord of the worlds was in that jasmine grove.
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे दुर्गे द्विधारूपो बभूव सः
At that moment, O Durga, he assumed a dual form.
बभूव रमणी रम्या रासेशा रमणोत्सुका 2.48.
There arose a beautiful woman, eager for enjoyment, the mistress of the rasa dance.
वह्निशुद्धांशुकाधाना कोटिपूर्णशशिप्रभा
She was clad in garments purified by fire, radiant as a million full moons.
सस्मिता सुदती शुद्धा शरत्पद्मनिभानना
Smiling, with beautiful teeth, pure, her face like a lotus in autumn.
रत्नमालां च दधती ग्रीष्मसूर्य्यसमप्रभाम्
She wore a garland of jewels, shining like the summer sun.
संयुक्तं वर्तुलोत्तुंगं सुमेरु गिरिसन्निभम्
Her breasts were full, round, and high, resembling Mount Sumeru.
मांगल्यं मंगलार्हं च स्तनयुग्मं च बिभ्रती
She bore auspicious, worship-worthy, twin breasts.
कामातुरः सस्मितां तां ददर्श रसिकेश्वरः
The Lord of delight, overcome by desire, beheld her as she smiled.
दृष्ट्वा चैनं सुकान्तं च सा दधार हरेः पुरः
And seeing him, so handsome, she stood before Hari.
राधा भजति तं कृष्णं स च तां च परस्परम्
Rādhā worships that Kṛṣṇa, and he worships her, each the other.
भवनं धावनं रासे स्मरत्यालिंगनं जपन्
He remembers, while reciting her embrace, their dwelling and running together in the dance.
