ते गत्वा ब्रह्मणो लोकं ब्रह्माणं तुष्टुवुस्तदा
They went to the world of Brahma and then praised Brahma.
महेन्द्र उवाच गवां बीजस्वरूपायै नमस्ते जगदम्बिके
Mahendra said: O Mother of the universe, obeisance to you, who are the seed-form of cows.
नमो राधाप्रियायै च पद्मांशायै नमो नमः कल्पवृक्षस्वरूपायै प्रदात्र्यै सर्वसंपदाम्
Obeisance again and again to her who is dear to Radha, who is a portion of Padma, who is of the form of the wish-fulfilling tree, and who bestows all wealth.
श्रीदायै धनदायै च बुद्धिदायै नमो नमः
Obeisance again and again to the giver of prosperity, the giver of wealth, and the giver of wisdom.
यशोदायै सौख्यदायै धर्मज्ञायै नमो नमः
Obeisance again and again to Yashoda, the giver of happiness, and the knower of righteousness.
आविर्बभूव तत्रैव ब्रह्मलोके सनातनी
There itself, in Brahma's world, the eternal one manifested.
जगाम सा च गोलोकं ययुर्देवादयो गृहम्
She went to Goloka, and the gods and others returned to their homes.
दुग्धाद् घृतं ततो यज्ञस्ततः प्रीतिः सुरस्य च 2.47.
From milk comes ghee, then sacrifice, then the joy of the gods.
स गोमान्धनवांश्चैव कीर्त्तिमान्पुण्यवान्भवेत्
He who possesses cows and wealth becomes renowned and virtuous.
इह लोके सुखं भुक्त्वा यात्यन्ते कृष्णमन्दिरम्
Enjoying happiness in this world, at the end he goes to Krishna's abode.
न पुनर्भवनं तस्य ब्रह्मपुत्र भवे भवेत्
O son of Brahma, for him, rebirth does not occur in any existence.
इति श्रीब्रह्मवैवर्त्ते महापुराणे द्वितीये प्रकृतिखण्डे नारदनारायणसंवादे सुरभ्युपाख्याने तदुत्पत्ति तत्पूजादिकथनं नाम सप्तचत्वारिंशत्तमोऽध्यायः
Thus ends the forty-seventh chapter named 'The Account of Surabhi, Her Origin, and the Description of Her Worship,' in the dialogue between Narada and Narayana, in the Prakriti Khanda of the glorious Brahma Vaivarta Mahapurana.
नारद उवाच नारायणांश भगवन्ब्रूहि नारायणीं कथाम्
Narada said: O Lord, portion of Narayana, please tell the story of Narayani.
श्रुतं सुरभ्युपाख्यानमतीव सुमनोहरम्
I have heard the account of Surabhi, which is exceedingly delightful.
अधुना श्रोतुमिच्छामि राधिकाख्यानमुत्तमम्
Now I wish to hear the supreme story of Radhika.
श्रीनारायण उवाच सिद्धेशं सिद्धिदं सर्वस्वरूपं शंकरं परम्
Sri Narayana said: The supreme Shiva, lord of accomplishments, giver of perfection, embodiment of all forms.
प्रफुल्लवदनं प्रीतं सस्मितं मुनिभिः स्तुतम्
With blooming face, pleased, smiling, praised by sages.
रासोत्सवरसाख्यानं रासमण्डलवर्णनम्
The narration of the festival of rasa, the description of the rasa circle.
पप्रच्छ पार्वती स्फीता सस्मिता प्राणवल्लभम् ।। स्तवनं कुर्वती भीता प्राणेशेन प्रसादिता
Parvati, flourishing and smiling, questioned her beloved, while offering praise, fearful, and appeased by the lord of life.
प्रोवाच तं महादेवं महादेवी सुरेश्वरी
The great goddess, queen of the gods, spoke to the great god.
श्रीपार्वत्युवाच पाञ्चरात्रादिकं नीतिशास्त्रयोगं च योगिनाम्
Sri Parvati said: The Pancaratra and other treatises, the discipline of yoga for yogis.
सिद्धानां सिद्धिशास्त्रं च नानातन्त्रं मनोहरम् 2.48.
The treatise of perfection for the accomplished, and various enchanting tantras.
श्रुतौ श्रुतं प्रशस्तं च राधायाश्च समासतः
In the scriptures, I have heard the praised account of Radha in brief.
आगमाख्यानकाले च भवता स्वीकृतं पुरा
And during the narration of the Agamas, it was formerly accepted by you.
तदुत्पतिं च तद्ध्यानं नाम्नो माहात्म्यमुत्तमम्
Her origin, her meditation, and the supreme greatness of her name.
आराधनविधानं च पूजापद्धतिमीप्सिताम्
The method of worship and the desired procedure for her puja.
कथं न कथितं पूर्वमागमाख्यानकालतः
Why was it not told earlier during the narration of the Agamas?
पञ्चवक्त्रश्च भगवाञ्छुष्ककण्ठोष्ठतालुकः
The blessed one with five faces, with dry throat, lips, and palate.
सस्मार कृष्णं ध्यानेनाभीष्टदेवं कृपानिधिम्
She remembered Krishna, her chosen deity and ocean of compassion, through meditation.
निषिद्धोऽहं भगवता कृष्णेन परमात्मना
I have been forbidden by the Blessed Lord Krishna, the Supreme Self.
